Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Faltine's Maw

Chapter 31: Faltine's Maw

2023-07-20 Author: Great Demon Spirit

The efficiency of the Xenomorphs—creatures capable of both physical combat and energy attacks—was unbelievably high when they fought in perfect coordination.

With Du Wa acting as a central hub—linking the minds of every Xenomorph, monitoring their perspectives and statuses, and issuing commands in real-time—their combat was nothing short of a beautiful, deadly art.

Despite this, weaker Xenomorphs constantly died amidst the energy whips, bound and sliced apart by their power, reduced to countless chunks of flesh.

But in their final moments, they would scream desperately, deliberately and violently tearing their own bodies apart to ensure their corrosive blood splattered over a wider area, melting more of the energy whips.

As far as the eye could see, whips constantly snapped, creating clearings in their midst. Upon closer inspection, one would be astonished to find that these clearings actually linked together, forming a somewhat irregular "channel"!

The entire process was as smooth as flowing water, achieved at the cost of fearlessness, silence, and sacrifice. It was as if it had been rehearsed countless times—terrifyingly efficient.

"How is this possible?!"

Even Kaecilius was startled. He wasn't afraid of the Xenomorphs' power; he was simply shocked by their absolute obedience and coldness. Despite being creatures of flesh and blood, they possessed the mechanical precision of robots.

"Nothing is impossible. You can become a part of me, too!"

Relying on his superior agility, Du Wa closed the distance to Kaecilius.

As long as he didn't let this guy use large-scale spatial magic like the Mirror Dimension, they had a fighting chance! With his own power, the Abomination Xenomorph, and several Deviant Xenomorphs, it wasn't an impossible opportunity.

In fact, with the power Du Wa now commanded, he was definitely a being that all the world's powers and organizations had to take very seriously.

However, his current opponent was Kaecilius, who belonged to the echelon just below the Ancient One.

"Let me show you true terror—the power I received from the great Dormammu."

Kaecilius felt the surging dark magic within him. It was clear that Dormammu had temporarily raised the upper limit of the power he could borrow.

While using the energy whips to buy himself time, Kaecilius began to invoke Dormammu's dark magic.

A vortex of magic, like a black hole, slowly began to brew before him.

"Behold this magic, the Maw of Faltine! The great Dormammu used this very spell to devour countless pocket universes and inhabited worlds!"

"You won't get the chance to use that spell!"

Du Wa continuously broke through the constraints of the energy whips, rapidly advancing with his many transcendent Xenomorphs, attempting to kill Kaecilius before he could successfully cast the spell.

Countless golden-red threads were born and destroyed. Xenomorphs constantly died from the burns and lacerations of the energy whips. Even Du Wa himself, covered in wounds, personally snapped many of the whips as he fought his way to Kaecilius.

Just as the two began to truly clash, Kaecilius perceived something. His expression changed abruptly, and he retreated at extreme speed, simultaneously opening a portal and choosing to flee without hesitation.

Du Wa's expression flickered. In a flash, he displayed superhuman reflexes, resolving to attack Kaecilius no matter the cost!

Roar!

The Abomination Xenomorph let out a cry. Its body, pierced like a sieve by countless energy whips, had been motionless as if dead. But at Du Wa's command, it erupted in a frenzy, its body rapidly swelling. Seizing the moment Kaecilius's attention was diverted, it viciously slammed into Du Wa from behind.

Using this force, Du Wa ignored the grievous injuries to his body and shot directly toward Kaecilius.

He was still a bit too late. Kaecilius's entire body had already entered the portal.

He revealed a smile of clear relief and began to turn. The shape of his mouth changed—even at a time like this, he maintained his elegance, displaying the noble bearing of an archmage.

Du Wa knew what this guy was about to say.

"We will meet again."

"Meet my ass! Give it here!"

A ferocious light spilled from Du Wa's eyes as he shot out both arms. It was a crazed, suicidal act; he could be split in two at any moment by the portal's closure, but Du Wa did it anyway.

Smack!

With immense speed and strength, Du Wa plunged both his arms through the barrier of magic particles. A huge amount of his flesh was instantly destroyed. Every moment, a part of his body disintegrated into countless specks of dust.

Even so, Du Wa didn't retreat or hesitate in the slightest. Using two arms that had been stripped nearly to bare white bone, he violently seized the turning Kaecilius by the shoulders. As the portal rapidly closed, he brutally held on with one arm and tore with the other, ripping the sorcerer's own arm from its socket!

The scene was exceptionally brutal—a mangled mess of flesh and blood, muscle separated but tendons still connected.

Kaecilius's composure instantly shattered. His elegance vanished as he let out a miserable scream!

He cherished his body immensely, as it was the capital with which he pursued the Truth and an important vessel for paying his dues to Dormammu. He usually took meticulous care of it, even styling his hair to be immaculate—he had never suffered physical damage of this magnitude before!

The portal closed completely, leaving Du Wa's two arms on the other side.

"He shouldn't have used the Maw of Faltine. The spell's channeling time is too long. Against an opponent like you, who is skilled at seizing opportunities and willing to self-harm, he miscalculated."

Behind Du Wa, a golden portal opened, and a portly figure rushed through. But he was a step too late, witnessing only the final clash between Kaecilius and Du Wa. He spoke with a sense of helplessness.

It had all happened too quickly. From Kaecilius opening the portal, retreating, and escaping, it all took less than a second. For him to open his own portal, step through, and then consider what magic to use to intervene—it was truly asking too much of him.

"You must be a sorcerer from Kamar-Taj. If it weren't for you, I don't think Kaecilius would have fled so quickly." Du Wa's expression switched from ferocious to gentle in a single second. The speed of his change was dumbfounding.

If not for the terrifying, self-healing wounds all over his body and his empty sleeves, Wong would have thought he was conversing with a gentleman.

Wong chose his words carefully as he looked around. The ancient building was a scene of devastation. Human corpses lay among piles of ash—the remains of those slain by Blade's silver weapons—and the fragmented bodies of Xenomorphs.

This alarmed him. It had clearly been an extremely brief confrontation, yet the battle had been this brutal.
