Chapter 201 - Chapter 201

"Grass Village, huh? Good," Kushina Uzumaki exuded a murderous aura. "Once I come back to life, if I don't make Grass Village pay dearly for what they did, my name isn't Kushina Uzumaki!"

Chapter 185: Sasuke's Little Fan Girl [Part 2]

"Don't worry, we'll make Grass Village pay eventually. You can take revenge on your mother's behalf yourself!"

After all, a mere Grass Village wouldn't stand a chance against Leaf Village. How to deal with Grass would ultimately be Karin's decision since she was the victim.

"Now that you mention it, Sasuke, how exactly did you meet Karin?"

Sakura tilted her head in confusion. Sasuke had only been gone about ten minutes when he came back bringing Karin with him. What's more, Karin seemed completely awestruck by Sasuke. What could possibly have happened in just those ten minutes?

"I went out for some fresh air and ran into Karin who was being attacked by a bear. I saved her just in time!" Sasuke briefly explained the situation before adding a question of his own. "By the way, Karin, where are your teammates? Surely Grass Village didn't send you alone to participate in the Chunin Exams?"

"They were all killed by traps. I managed to survive using my own ability. Right after escaping from a trap, I encountered a bear, and then you came and rescued me like a hero!" Karin gazed at Sasuke like he was a shining hero, blushing by the end of her explanation.

When she'd already lost all hope, Sasuke—the heroic savior who suddenly descended from the heavens—had appeared, rescuing her from the bear. The image of Sasuke's back as he cut the bear down with one sword stroke had already been deeply imprinted in Karin's mind.

"You're a ninja, right? How could you be afraid of just a regular bear?" Hinata asked with some confusion. While the beasts in the Forest of Death were fiercer than average animals, none of them reached the level of summoning techniques. An ordinary bear should be easily handled even by a freshly graduated Genin!

"I...I don't know any ninja techniques," Karin lowered her head, saying awkwardly. "Grass Village only taught me chakra refinement methods but never instructed me in any Ninjutsu or Taijutsu!"

"That's terrible! They clearly had ulterior motives!" Hinata frowned and pointed out firmly, "They taught you chakra refinement, but kept you from learning any Ninjutsu or Taijutsu at all. Most likely, they wanted you to refine chakra to help them heal injuries, but they feared you might retaliate once you possessed real abilities, so they directly eliminated this possibility at its root."

"Why don't you stay with us now? Once we reach the Central Tower, we'll go see the Third Hokage and ask him to provide you with official identification. After that, you can live peacefully in Konoha!" Sakura said softly. As for whether the Third would actually issue Karin identity documentation, there was no need to even think about it—the Third would obviously never turn down such a request. Simply bearing the Uzumaki surname carried sufficient weight to ensure his cooperation.

"But if the Grass Village ninja come looking for the Hokage..." Karin asked with concern. The Grass Village surely wouldn't let her go so easily. Would the Third Hokage really risk a conflict with Grass just to protect someone like her?

"Don't worry. If the Grass Village ninja dare cause any trouble, we'll just squash them flat!"

Hinata took on that big sister vibe, speaking without even a hint of hesitation. Grass was just a minor village—its strongest members were only jonin. Konoha didn't even need to get involved; the Hyūga clan alone could wipe them out.

"Thank you all."

Tears welling up, Karin looked at Sakura and the others, overwhelmed with gratitude. She had never imagined that one day she would escape from Grass Village—the living hell she used to call home.

"Hey, Sasuke, since your house is big enough anyway, why don't you let Karin stay there after we leave the Forest of Death? And you better take good care of her!"

Sakura exchanged knowing smiles with Mikoto Uchiha and immediately placed Karin in Sasuke's care.

"...Fine." Though Sasuke wanted to say he wasn't good at taking care of people, seeing the expectation in his mother's eyes and the clear threat behind Sakura's gaze, he could only sigh helplessly and agree.

"Really? That's great!" Karin suddenly threw herself forward and tightly hugged Sasuke. To her, Sasuke was the closest person since her mother had passed away. In this unfamiliar environment, of course she wanted to stay by Sasuke's side.

"Let go of me already!" A flustered, shy guy with a cold exterior tried hard to push her off but couldn't bring himself to use much force, ending up in a complete stalemate.

"This could actually work out!"

"Sasuke's finally coming around! As his mother, I can die peacefully now."

Sakura and Mikoto talked softly together, especially Mikoto, who watched Karin closely following Sasuke with an adoring expression on her face, pulling out a handkerchief to wipe away tears.

In the days that followed, Sasuke spent almost all his time wearing an exasperated expression. Karin wasn't distant toward Sakura and the others anymore, but still felt closest to Sasuke. She constantly stayed by his side, gazing at him with affection, making Sasuke feel extremely awkward.

By the time they reached the Central Tower, it was already the final day of the second phase of the Chunin Exams. They practically stepped into the tower at the very last moment.

"Take out your scrolls and throw them open."

Without hesitation, the Heaven and Earth Scrolls were pulled out, unfurled, and tossed aside. A puff of smoke appeared, revealing a figure sitting in a wheelchair.

"Iruka-sensei, what are you doing here?"

Sakura, Naruto, and the others stared blankly at Iruka, wrapped entirely in bandages and seated in the wheelchair.

"Iruka-sensei, you're injured so badly—yet you still insisted on coming here?"

Hinata stepped forward and lightly poked Iruka's arm, causing him to suck in a sharp breath from the pain.

"Ehheh... Well, since I had nothing else to do at the hospital, I figured I'd just accept this mission to guide you guys here." Even though he was clearly in pain—his cheek twitching with every movement—Iruka stubbornly maintained a smile, while mentally wailing in agony.
