According to Elio's script, the Stellaron Hunters split into two groups. Kafka and Blade would lie in wait in the area outside the Herta Space Station, waiting for Silver Wolf and Zāwù to act as decoys and lure a portion of the Antimatter Legion's forces over before making their move. Silver Wolf, meanwhile, was responsible for picking Zāwù up on the ship.
As the cyberpunk-style portal opened, Zāwù stumbled out. He was instinctively caught in a tight hug by Silver Wolf, who had her arms outstretched. The girl staggered back several steps but couldn't absorb the force of Zāwù's collision. With a "thud!", Silver Wolf fell inside the ship's cabin, and Zāwù, supporting himself with his hands and knees, straddled the silver-haired girl's slender waist, their eyes meeting.
You could see that before Silver Wolf even had a chance to settle the score with Zāwù, her pained expression was gradually tinged with a cherry-blossom pink. Her eyes were a mix of annoyance and shyness, wanting to speak but holding back.
"Stupid... get up already, do you like seeing me on the bottom!?"
"S-Sorry! Big Sis Silver Wolf!"
Zāwù scrambled to his feet.
Fine, I forgive you, Silver Wolf thought with a blush. Whether Zāwù liked seeing her on the bottom was hard to say. But she actually really liked his dazed, cute expression as he stared straight at her. Usually, when playing games with Zāwù, they sat next to each other, so Silver Wolf could only see his profile as he focused on the game. Thinking back now, she had really missed out on a lot of bonus scenes...
Zāwù extended a hand to Silver Wolf. She blinked her long eyelashes, looked away, and took it, letting him pull her back to her feet.
"By the way, have you gotten taller recently?" Silver Wolf immediately noticed that Zāwù, who used to have to look up slightly at her, was now at eye level. If she didn't wear the two purple leaf-like ornaments on her head, Zāwù might actually be taller than her!
"Never mind, that's not important." Silver Wolf changed the subject. She hadn't forgotten that she and Zāwù were still on a mission. The girl waved her hand, bringing up a virtual screen showing swarms of the Antimatter Legion in hot pursuit of their ship. In the distance, you could vaguely see not one... but two Doomsday Beasts! These starship-sized behemoths were anti-star weapons forged by the Antimatter Legion, based on fragments of Twilight Beasts and fueled by the wails of ten thousand corpses from the Forge of War.
Seeing this, even Silver Wolf couldn't help but suck in a sharp breath. "You made a bit of a big scene. You've attracted more of the Legion than I thought."
"..."
Zāwù had a look of apology on his face. Just looking at him, probably no woman would want to blame him. If someone had to be blamed, it should be Blade for teaching him the sword style of that Luofu Sword Champion.
Silver Wolf reached out and patted Zāwù's hair. "It's okay. The folks on the Astral Express can definitely handle it."
"The Astral Express?"
"Didn't Elio tell you?"
But that was normal. The full picture of that bad black cat's script was only ever known to himself. As participants in the script, the Stellaron Hunters often only needed to know the part they had to play and execute it flawlessly. In their free time, Elio would never restrict what they did. Yet even so, every event would end perfectly according to Elio's script, like an unalterable fate. Truly worthy of... the "Destiny's Slave."
Zāwù was stunned to hear this. In fact, it wasn't just the news about the "Astral Express." Elio hadn't told him anything about his role in the script or what he needed to do. As a new member of the Stellaron Hunters, he did speak with Elio. That elegant black cat had stared at him for a very long time, as if smiling. And the first thing it said was actually:
—"I can allow you to pat my head, but below the stomach is a no-go."
Zāwù had been mortified that his desire had been seen through. But Elio didn't seem to think it was a big deal. It finally bid Zāwù a polite "goodbye" and, along with Sam who was holding it, disappeared as the screen changed.
And just like that, Zāwù became the only one in this drama without a script.
...
Just as he had no past.
It seemed he also had no future.
...
Zāwù didn't know if he should tell Big Sis Silver Wolf this. The boy, wanting to speak but hesitating, watched as she focused on piloting the ship, dodging attacks from the Legion as if she were playing a starship game. He thought about it and decided against it. Besides, she really was playing. Otherwise, according to a normal person's logic, they should be rapidly escaping the Legion's encirclement right now, not weaving in and out of the swarms of Voidrangers seven times like Silver Wolf was doing.
Unfortunately, Silver Wolf had become Zhao Zilong, and Zāwù was seemingly the Adou she was carrying. But unlike in history, if you let this "Adou" Zāwù pilot the ship, he could probably carry Silver Wolf through seven times as well, slaughtering everything in their path.
By the time Silver Wolf had played enough, the dazzlingly bright Planet Blue was right before their eyes. The Voidrangers had found a better target for destruction. And the Herta Space Station, at this time, had not yet foreseen... the impending danger.
...
"BOOM!!"
A violent explosion interrupted Kafka's invisible violin performance. Red alerts immediately blared throughout the space station! Bathed in the red light, Kafka took a shallow breath, lowered her hands from her impromptu performance, and muttered to herself.
"Looks like I've come at a bad time."
A virtual screen with Silver Wolf's logo唰 (shuā - swished) into view before the woman. Silver Wolf's calm voice came through. "No, I think you've come at just the right time."
"System time 23:47:15. You're right on time, Kafka."
"What was that explosion just now? Also, is Zāwù with you?" Kafka's tone, when she mentioned that name, softened in a way even she didn't notice.
"Yeah, he's here. I'll let him explain it to you." Saying this, Silver Wolf gently patted the boy's butt, urging him on.
"...!?"
But Zāwù couldn't be bothered with Silver Wolf right now; he was more concerned about Kafka's situation. Besides, he was just a bit shy. He wasn't sure if what Silver Wolf did was wrong. Maybe among friends, such actions were normal. Just like how Big Sis Silver Wolf always wanted him to stay the night in her room. He heard that among brothers and sisters, that was a perfectly normal thing.
"Big Sis Kafka, I'm here!"
"The explosion was the work of the Antimatter Legion. They launched a full-scale invasion of the space station two system hours ago..."
Zāwù explained a lot more, including Elio's flawless calculations. But Kafka just listened with a doting expression, and finally replied gently.
"Mm, as long as you're here."
