Chapter 7 - UNITING

Lucen looked at the bodies on the floor, then at David whose sword was still shaking in his hand.

 He didn't rush to David.

He knelt and checked the pulse of the bodies.

"It seems they are okay, he probably knocked them unconscious," Lucen breathed out in relief.

Pfft.

Lucen's breath caught in his throat when he heard Azarith's smile.

"What is it?" He asked gently.

You think they are alive, you mortals and your blind hope. They have been killed, and when I mean killed, their souls were burnt.

Lucen twitched as he heard Azarith.

Your friend is on fire, he actually killed all of them, Azarith joked.

"This is no time to joke around," Lucen said with a grim tone.

Not like I care about your feelings, Azarith said with a mocking tone.

"David", Lucen finally stood up.

"What happened here?" He asked with a gentle voice.

"I killed them," David raised his head, tears streaming down.

"I killed people I have called classmates for 6 years... Just like that," he continued.

Lucen walked closer calmly, his steps easy and calculated.

Causacrum shimmered from his legs, and entered his sigil.

As he reached David, he opened his arms wide.

David stared at him for a moment, then collapsed into his arms, sobbing as though something vital had broken.

Lucen rested a hand on the back of his head.

Before I ask him for the reason he killed them, I should first let him calm down.

But no matter what, I am going to protect him.

After crying for over 3 minutes, David finally stopped.

Lucen smiled when he stopped.

"Why are you like this just because you killed a few people? You will be killing more soon anyways," he said, attempting to cheer him up.

When David heard this, he did not reply to the question, rather, he asked his own.

"How did you escape from those void beings?"

Lucen smiled, and gently sat on the floor, while gesturing for David to join him.

David did not say anything. He sat calmly near Lucen.

"I killed them," he said, while flexing his muscles.

"Alone, without an injury," David asked with disbelief.

"Which entity did you awaken?" David asked.

"A mythic tier Demon, same as you."

"As expected," David replied with a smile.

Lucen also smiled in understanding.

"So, why did you kill them?" Lucen asked, his tone soft, like a whisper.

David turned towards him, then back to the floor.

"I suggested we went outside to get someone to rescue you, but they did not listen." David said, as if he had accepted his new reality as a murderer.

"I was in a hurry, so I had to kill them to drop their void cores."

"Who knew you would have survived?" David said with a smile.

Lucen's brow twitched.

As I thought, David would not kill without reason. He actually killed them because of me.

Although I don't care about all this emotional things, that does not change what I think about your friend. He is a really good one, Azarith said.

Lucen smiled in response.

"We are in this together," Lucen said as he turned to look at him.

"Let's go," Lucen said as he dragged David's arm.

"Wait, the void cores."

Lucen halted, and looked at the void cores scattered on the floor. At a glance, they were over 50 of them there.

"I guess we need to take them," he said with a smirk.

He released David's arm, and they got to work.

Meanwhile, in a place filled with darkness.

In this place, no sound or light.

Umbrosith sat calmly on his throne, his hand resting on the armrest with elegance.

His face grim, with shadows curling around them.

A huge scar that tore across his face pulsed slightly.

"Master Umbrosith, Lord Luminith is here," a voice as soft as wind passing through tall grass echoed through the room.

When Umbrosith heard this, he furrowed his brows.

Did she hear about it, and came to mock me? He thought.

"Let her in," he finally said.

Soon, a white fox walked in, her steps filled with elegance and grace.

Wherever she passed, the darkness faded, and was replaced with light.

"What do you want?" Umbrosith asked directly, not concerned with courtesy.

"Is that how you treat a guest? No greetings, no offer to sit?," Luminith asked, as a white chair materialised near her.

Umbrosith stared at her with disgust, his mind thinking of ways he could send her way.

"I heard you confronted the person who bonded with the primordial of reality, and even found out that the bond person was the sovereign."

"Why are you here?" Umbrosith asked again, not even caring about what she said.

Luminith smiled slightly, then it erupted, filling the entire room.

What is this crazy woman thinking of now, Umbrosith could not help but wonder,

Luminith calmed.

"You also know the void lord has been uprooting useless void wardens."

"3 were killed previously without mercy, and the void lord said more were gong to follow if we continued to slack behind."

"Both of us, especially you are one of the lowest wardens. If we dont act fast, we will be destroyed soon."

"I wanted to make a deal with you. One that would benefit both of us, and elevate our status."

"If we succeed, we might even get promoted to void heralds."

There was a momentary pause, as if she wanted it to sink in.

Then she continued, this time louder.

"But to achieve it, I need your cooperation. So, what do you say."

Although she is crazy, I can't doubt the fact that she is a good thinker. And I can't wait till I get killed by the void lord.

"What do you want?" Umbrosith asked after some thoughts.

"If you are asking that, that means you agreed to join me," Luminith said with a smirk.

Umbrosith did not speak.

On the surface, he agreed to join Luminith, but deep down, he was still wary.

But what could he do? The void lord was million of times more dangerous than an ordinary herald.
