Zhao Lun carefully held Ollis's skull, treating it with great reverence, as though he were holding a national flag, and walked over to the skeleton frame he had spent two or three hours assembling. He gently placed it atop the skeleton body.
"Done!"
With Ollis's skull now attached, Zhao Lun immediately revealed his excitement. He beamed with pride as he admired his handiwork, staring at it for two full minutes before urging the motionless Ollis, "Ollis, get up and take a few steps. Let's see how the skeleton I made looks!"
Ollis didn't move.
"What? Not listening, huh? Not showing respect to me, your master? You asking for a beating?" Zhao Lun was furious. How dare this little Ollis disrespect its master? He rolled up his sleeves, ready to teach the skeleton a lesson.
Luckily, Ollis was quick-witted. It sensed its ruthless master was about to get physical and quickly used the mental bridge created through Servant to express its situation to Zhao Lun.
"Hungry!"
Zhao Lun froze. This was the first time Ollis had clearly communicated its thoughts, even if it wasn't very clear.
"You're hungry?" Zhao Lun asked cautiously.
It seemed only Zhao Lun could understand Ollis's vague messages, as Ollis understood Zhao Lun's words too. After a brief hesitation, Ollis nodded.
"You can understand me? You really understand what I'm saying?"
Hey, wait a minute—let's get back to the main point! This is embarrassing, you know? And if Ollis can understand me, then how can those skeletons, like Big Sword No. 1 and Archer No. 1, execute commands?
"Come on, come on, spin around! Stand up and take a spin for me!" Zhao Lun was so absorbed in the experiment with Ollis that he had completely forgotten what Ollis had just said.
"Hungry!"
Fortunately, Ollis was firm in its stance. It had a "don't expect me to work if I'm not fed" attitude and refused to budge.
"Skeletons get hungry? What do you want to eat? Bones? But you don't even have a stomach! Can you even eat?" Zhao Lun finally paid attention to the important issue, but then he got sidetracked again.
"Hungry!"
"Just saying you're hungry doesn't help! You can't eat anything!"
"Hungry!"
"Oh, so you're being stubborn now, huh? Let me tell you, it's useless! I don't have anything you can eat... Wait, no, actually, I do have something you can eat. Just wait a minute."
Zhao Lun finally remembered what he usually "ate" and hurriedly ran over to where he kept his soul fire, directing his skeleton minions to bring dozens of skulls to Ollis.
"I'm telling you, after you eat, don't go on strike again. Or I'll give you a good beating!" Zhao Lun threatened as he pulled out a skull, then took some soul fire and shoved it into Ollis's mouth.
The moment Zhao Lun pushed the soul fire into Ollis's skull, Ollis quickly devoured it with a swish, then continued to communicate its hunger.
"Hey, hey, slow down! Have you never eaten before?" Zhao Lun scolded in annoyance, pulling out another soul fire and stuffing it into Ollis's skull.
Ollis seemed to be starving. It devoured over twenty soul flames from Zhao Lun, and by the time Zhao Lun was starting to feel sorry for him, Ollis finally stopped sending signals of hunger.
"Finally got you fed! Now get up and walk two steps for me!" Zhao Lun looked at the pile of skulls that had lost their soul fire with pity and ordered Ollis with some frustration.
This time, Ollis obeyed. It struggled to push itself up, but no matter how hard it tried, it couldn't stand. It seemed like the skeleton frame simply didn't want to cooperate.
"Uh-oh, is there something wrong with the skeleton?" Zhao Lun's heart skipped a beat as he watched Ollis continue to struggle. He felt a pang of guilt, as if he had done something wrong. Just as he was considering what to do to fix the situation, something unexpected happened.
"Ahhhhh..."
A sudden roar of pure rage filled the mental connection between Zhao Lun and Ollis, startling him. Immediately after, Zhao Lun saw Ollis's skeleton start to glow with a faint white light.
"Damn, a glowing skeleton lamp!" Zhao Lun exclaimed as he realized that Ollis was slowly gaining control over the skeleton frame. Ollis was rising from the ground, the light around him growing stronger as he stood.
The more Ollis stood, the brighter the glow became. When Ollis finally stood up fully, the light exploded, so bright that Zhao Lun was almost blinded.
"Hey, what's this supposed to mean? Showing off? Showing off that you can glow and I can't, huh?" Zhao Lun was momentarily stunned by the bright light, and when his vision cleared, he saw Ollis kneeling in front of him.
"What's this? Are you trying to flatter me? Just so you know, I'm not impressed by this!" Zhao Lun, his ego somewhat satisfied, spoke dismissively but couldn't help but look with great interest at the kneeling Ollis.
He noticed that Ollis had changed since he last assembled the skeleton. The body was still perfectly proportioned, holding a large bone sword in one hand and a bone shield in the other. Sadly, the bone bow had fallen to the ground and wasn't equipped, but aside from that, Ollis's bones now had a slight dark hue, with a metallic sheen that made them seem much stronger than the previous white bones.
The more Zhao Lun looked, the more he liked Ollis, thinking that the skeleton he had assembled was almost on par with the mutated Giant Axe Skeleton. Excited, Zhao Lun opened Ollis's page from his soul fire.
Skeleton Minion

"Figures. This thing is completely beyond saving!"
After glancing at the evaluation, Zhao Lun silently closed the page.
Incomplete things are incomplete. How could something I spent over two hours carefully assembling be considered trash? This thing was messed up from the start.
It seems like this guy got lost in yet another random thought.
