Chapter 108 - Chapter 108: The Mermaid Princess of the Underwater Ballet

Misty said, "When I was on Cinnabar Island, I got a call from my sisters. They told me I had to come back to the Cerulean Gym. Also, my Horsea has been acting listless lately for some reason, so I thought I'd come back here anyway and let it live in a bigger pool for a while to see if its spirits improve."

As she spoke, Misty's gaze swept back and forth over Natsui.

Now that Natsui was wearing a whole new set of gear, he looked even more handsome, which made the girl, who already had a crush on him, feel her heart beat faster.

Especially when he stood next to Ash and Brock, two people who paid no attention to their appearance, their contrast made Natsui stand out even more!

How to describe this feeling?

Misty thought to herself: Maybe it's the difference between a Fearow and a Ho-Oh. Although they are both bird Pokémon and look very similar, you can still tell at a glance that Ho-Oh is in a class of its own.

The group chatted casually for a bit longer.

Since they had run into each other here, and with Misty's enthusiastic invitation, Natsui, having nothing else to do, decided to go with them into Cerulean City.

Laughing and talking, the group arrived at the Cerulean Gym.

Looking at the gym where she had grown up, a place that was once so familiar, Misty was overcome with emotion.

"I miss this place so much. Ever since I started my journey, I realize it's been a long time since I've been back here!"

Just as they were about to enter the gym, Natsui suddenly noticed a billboard on the side.

On the billboard was a huge poster, and on the poster were many Water-type Pokémon. But the most eye-catching figure was a beautiful girl wearing a seashell bikini, dressed like a mermaid! Poster.

Although the girl only showed half of her delicate profile, making it impossible to see her full face, her beautiful figure was enough to spark one's imagination.

Reading the words on it, Natsui said curiously, "A gorgeous and splendid underwater ballet show? It looks like they've launched a new performance!"

"A show?"

The others also walked closer. When Brock saw the mermaid girl, he was instantly captivated and muttered to himself, "Wow, she's so beautiful! It looks like we're back just in time for a feast for the eyes..."

Just then, Natsui saw a line of small text at the bottom and couldn't help but read it aloud.

"This performance is brought to you by a famous underwater ballet artist making her triumphant return to Cerulean City. Eh? This triumphant ballet artist... are they talking about you, Misty?"

Hearing him say that, everyone finally noticed that the girl on the poster was indeed extremely similar to Misty. Upon closer inspection, it was clearly her with her hair let down!

"That's impossible," Misty quickly shook her head. "I don't know anything about underwater ballet. It must be a guest performer my sisters invited from somewhere."

Through the automatic doors, the group entered the gym lobby.

The gym was empty and looked deserted, as if it were a holiday, not open to the public, and no performance was being held.

"I'm home!" Misty called out happily. The next second, hearing her voice, Daisy, Violet, and Lily all rushed out to greet her.

"You're finally back!" Lily stepped forward, grabbed both of Misty's hands, and complained, "What took you so long? Didn't we tell you to hurry back?"

Before Misty could speak, Violet also asked suspiciously, "Don't tell me you went off to play somewhere again? You nearly missed the big event!"

"Alright, let's not pick on her anymore," Daisy quickly intervened. And from her expression, it seemed she was also greatly relieved that Misty had shown up at this moment. "Although you're a bit late, at least you barely made it."

Misty's three sisters, once they started talking, chattered on nonstop, making it impossible for anyone to get a word in.

Misty was also completely bewildered. When they finally quieted down, she asked, puzzled, "What are you guys talking about? What did I make it for? Oh, right, let's not talk about that for now. Sisters, I've brought guests back with me this time."

Perhaps because they had been in such a hurry before, it was only now that they noticed Natsui and the others.

"Oh, it's you guys. How have you been lately?"

"This girl Misty hasn't caused you any trouble, has she?"

Daisy, Violet, and Lily abandoned Misty, first greeting Ash and Brock, then turning their heads towards Natsui.

And when they saw Natsui's face clearly, their eyes suddenly lit up, like bees seeing a flower, and they all crowded around him.

Lily feigned surprise and anger, "Ah, I remember you! You were the one who beat us so badly back then!"

"That's right! That's right! What? Are you traveling with Misty now too?"

"Don't tell me you've set your sights on our little sister?"

Faced with the three women at full blast, Natsui's head started to ache. He shook his head, "I just happened to run into them today. But although we're not traveling together, Misty and I are indeed very good friends."

Hearing Natsui say this, Misty was very happy in her heart. But seeing her three sisters swarming around Natsui, she felt a pang of jealousy and immediately rushed over angrily, pushing them away forcefully.

"Alright, alright!" Misty pouted and asked, "What was so urgent that you had to call me back in such a hurry?"

Reminded by her, the three finally got back to the main topic, "We almost forgot the important stuff. Hurry up, Misty, there's no time left, we need to practice!"

"Huh?" Misty looked completely lost. "What practice are you talking about?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Violet pointed to the poster on the wall. "The underwater ballet, of course!"

"W-W-What!!?" Misty was shocked. "Are you kidding me!? You're really going to make me perform!?"

"Of course," Lily said as if it were a matter of course. "We've already decided. You will play the leading role of the mermaid princess in the next underwater ballet!"

"What!?" Misty looked incredulous and shouted, "Why did you make this decision for me without even discussing it? Besides, I'm determined to become a Water-type Pokémon Master! How can I go and dance ballet!? No way! I refuse! Absolutely not!"

Seeing Misty's firm attitude, Violet was about to say something more but was stopped by Daisy.

"Alright, Misty, don't get so worked up. We can't just let our guests stand here. Let's have them go inside and rest for a bit first."

Following Daisy, the group went into a lounge and sat down at a long table. As Daisy served them tea, it was only then that Natsui and the others finally learned the whole story from them.
