Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Inventory of the Warehouse

Liu Bi briefly searched the now-abandoned warehouse.

Besides the boning knife, he found two other rusty knives.

A sickle, a flat tactical knife.

There was also a well-maintained three-edged spear, perhaps useful for skewering meat.

Aside from the protective suits, all the other supplies were unusable. The only food items left were two cans untouched by spores, with the words "protein blocks" faintly written on them.

However, he had collected about a kilogram of solution and detergent, which could be used to rinse the protective suits and make alkaline solutions.

Of course, the most fortunate discovery was another barrel of gasoline.

Liu Bi examined it and estimated that it contained at least 40 liters. Adding the bottles and cans he had found during the barbecue, that brought the total to about 50 liters.

Having read many apocalyptic novels, Liu Bi knew that these 50 liters of fuel were priceless.

In addition, there were some filter cartridges for chemical masks.

This was once a buffer zone for supplies, abandoned for unknown reasons.

The warehouse now has two major problems:

There's no complete gate.

There's no water in the faucet.

Moving elsewhere immediately is unrealistic.

Liu Bi observed the plumbing layout and determined the water source must be outside the warehouse.

Through the cracks in the wall, he peered at the dry well outside. It was covered in dust and spores, apparently malfunctioning from long periods of disuse.

The sky seemed to be shrouded in a lingering fog, obscuring the sun, but the sky was gradually darkening.

Through the opening in the gate, Liu Bi could see mutant creatures moving along the skyline.

Although there were no monsters around the warehouse right now, there was no guarantee they would pass by at night.

I had just grilled a leg and egg, and no one of my kind had come to visit. It was truly a miracle.

Perhaps because he'd died once before, Liu Bi felt no anxiety about this near-death experience.

I had to find a way to repair the water source before nightfall and then patch up the gate.

The remaining items in the warehouse alone won't fix the problem, so why not see what the system has in store for me, the "restaurant owner"?

Liu Bi dragged a table over, dusted it, and sat down to slowly study the system before him.

[You can use your points to redeem supplies and enter prizes here]

[Remaining points: 20]

Liu Bi saw the prize draw section with a permanent supply pool and a limited-time item pool.

[Each prize draw costs 5 points. You're guaranteed to get an A-grade item within 10 draws, and an S-grade item within 80 draws! Prize draw records are cumulative.]

The limited-time item pool lasts for 14 days, while the permanent pool has no time limit.

The limited-time item S-grade item is a heavy sniper rifle.

"I wonder how many draws it'll take... If it goes wrong, that'll be a real pain."

"And even if I do get a heavy sniper rifle, it needs gun oil and ammunition, which is useless to me right now."

Even with this thought, Liu Bi couldn't help but try the limited-time item button.

As expected... it didn't work.

After a flash of light, two bags of cement appeared in the empty warehouse.

They were somewhat useful.

At least they could fix the leak in the warehouse.

Liu Bi opened the shop and looked at the products for sale.

The items ranged from building materials and tools to vehicles, and were refreshed daily.

[Two-wheeled motorcycle, 200 points available]

[Scissors, 3 points available]

[5 bags of cement, 3 points available]

[1 cubic red brick, 3 points available]

[Universal wrench, 1 point available]

...

Liu Bi searched further down but found no other tools to repair the water source.

However, by chance, he found an iron door and its accessories, which cost a full 7 points.

Although it was a bit expensive, Liu Bi felt he couldn't save these points.

While the door couldn't keep out many mutants, it could effectively prevent them from unintentionally entering the room.

He gritted his teeth and clicked, and two intact iron doors appeared before Liu Bi.

The iron doors had a unique construction, with locks located only on the inside.

This meant that, unless forced, they could not be opened from the outside.

The only drawback was that he had to install them himself.

Liu Bi simply spent all his remaining points, purchasing five bags of cement, one cubic meter of red brick, and a universal wrench.

By the time Liu Bi had removed the old doors and installed the new ones, it was almost dark.

Before darkness fell, Liu Bi quickly reinforced the most vulnerable wall on the right side of the warehouse to prevent it from collapsing due to the evening wind or rain.

It was completely dark.

The night wind smelled of dust, and from time to time, strange roars drifted from everywhere, obscured by the dense fog.

Liu Bi closed the door and extinguished the fire.

My mouth was dry, but the dehydration wasn't severe enough; I could bear it overnight.

He then blocked the doorway with the warehouse's iron frame, turned over the table, and built a wall with cement bags and bricks.

Liu Bi placed the time bomb and the loaded Saratoga pistol beside him and went to sleep fully clothed.

At first, Liu Bi had trouble falling asleep.

But in the middle of the night, acid rain began to fall, dripping onto the ceiling, and Liu Bi actually fell asleep to the sound.

The night passed uneventfully.

The next day, the sun rose as usual.

It was a bright, sunny day, free of the yellow mist.

Liu Bi awoke from his sleep and peered through the peephole in the door. He saw two mutants blocking the way.

They were two intermediate-level leg eggs.

There were no other of their kind around, but they seemed lost and showed no sign of leaving.

Liu Bi had never managed two intermediate-level leg eggs at once.

[Do you want to begin the food gathering phase?]

[Current gathering proficiency: two "intermediate-level leg eggs." 85% gathering success rate.]

Has hunting two intermediate-level leg eggs become easier with his increased proficiency?

The action indicator line reappeared before him.

[Please prepare the triangular spike and sharp knife]

[Next, please open the door within 3 seconds after the "beep" sound]

[Beep——]

Liu Bi quickly opened the door, and the monster turned around reflexively.

He swung his left hand, and the triangular spike directly pierced the right arm of the leg egg that rushed towards him, pinning its arm to the door frame.

The door was blocked by one egg, and the other leg egg screamed "da da da", but could not enter the door.

Liu Bi took the opportunity to quickly cut several times along the indicated dotted line.

The two monsters had their left and right legs broken off respectively, and were entangled in the doorway, unable to move.

The boning knife flowed like water waves, and the remaining two legs were also taken away by Liu Bi.

The remaining two round egg bodies were kicked out of the door one by one by Liu Bi like kicking a ball, and rolled to the side of the monster whose hind legs had been removed yesterday.

The entire process was as refreshing and natural as beating an egg white into a bowl and discarding the shell.

"I've got enough food for the next few days. If any customers pass by, I can use it to make charcoal-grilled ham hocks."

Liu Bi thought as he opened the system's store interface.

The store should have been refreshed today.

Liu Bi searched through the product list one by one.

Finally, at the end of the list, he saw the water pump.

And it only cost 2 points!

It seemed that the prices of the goods in this store weren't entirely reasonable.

Yesterday, even a pair of scissors cost 3 points, and an iron gate cost 7.

But today, the water pump was only 2 points!

Without further delay, Liu Bi traded his remaining 2 points for the water pump.

He put on his protective suit, grabbed his weapon, and headed towards the well, carrying the water pump.
