Chapter 10 - HP: Sacred Gear Chat Group - Chapter 44

"Was it really okay to let him go?" Shizuku asked as they moved away from the unconscious guy they had robbed blankly.

"Don't worry about it. I modified his memories; he has no idea what happened. He actually thinks he used up all his cards." Harry explained absentmindedly while having his eyes on his binder.

"He was so weak. It would be easy to kill him."

"Sure, but then we would have one weak drone less to collect cards. This way we can just encounter him again and rob him, without lifting a finger. No need to get our hands dirty." He said, as he had no interest in even absorbing him.

That guy was so weak that Harry would gain more Aura by training a day. And his ability was absolutely worthless to him too; he was an emitter that could shoot out weak Nen blasts. If Harry had to rank his mastery on the scale of Bisky Krueger's Nen Type training, he would rank that guy at Emission Level 3 combined with Enhancement Training on barely Level 2.

No other category.

Harry was already beyond that level.

"Check out the loot we got. That guy was really unlucky!" Harry smirked as he showed his binder to Shizuku.

"Why?"

"These are Spell Cards!" Holding up one of the cards in his free slots, "I learned from his memories that he just left the store in Masadora, the only place on the island where one could get spells! And he got some really good ones; here, look at that!"

"An S Rank Card? So one of the rarest ones? 'Eye of Gods'? What are 'list' and 'analysis'?"

"Yep, there are only 10 in the game at the same time. This one allows you to gain the spell 'List,' which shows you how many people have a specific card and how many copies exist overall, and 'Analysis,' which allows you to read the text of a numbered card without possessing it. And you get them permanently until you leave the game! Really useful if you want to collect all cards." Harry mused.

Thinking about it for a moment, Shizuku put a finger on her chin. "Why didn't he use it on himself?"

"Oh, he already had it. He was planning to trade it later, based on how things go with these." He showed her another card, storing 'Eye of God' back in his binder.

"'Collision'? Oh, it sends you randomly to players you haven't met yet!"

"That Guy was actually trying to rob us, either with his spells or by force, and if he should run into someone strong, he would try to trade or escape." Harry summarized what that guy had been up to: "Just double unlucky that he ran into someone stronger who just entered the game."

"Bad luck. So are there attack spells?"

"No, they are mostly related to player interactions, card acquiring, and defense from spells. But I wonder how they would react with actual magic."

"What do you mean?"

"Oh, in my limited experience with Nen and the different abilities it creates, they work quite literally. Although I mostly experienced it with Nen limitations, like forcing me into Zetsu, still allowing me to use magic. Or you being able to use your ability on magic, even though it's so similar to Nen abilities but a different form of energy. So look at this one." Showing her another card.

"'Reflect an attacking spell once.'. You think it may work on Magic?" She wondered.

"Yes, as far as I can tell, these spells are Nen abilities. And their text should be taken quite literally, which would make them powerful. While it doesn't work on Nen abilities, the creator didn't expect for magic to actually exist. But that's just a theory so far." Harry explained.

"Well, let's try it out. Isn't that what we are here for? How do I use this?" Shizuku asked as she grabbed the spell card out of his hand.

"You have to hold the card while saying its name followed by the activation phrase 'On' and the target player's name. Are you sure?"

"I know you won't use anything that kills me. Reflect on Shizuku!" The spell card vanished from her hand, and a translucent shield glowed for a moment around her before she looked like normal.

"Okay, then let's try it with something simple first." Harry sent a stinging hex at her, only for the shield to appear in front of her, sending the spell in the same trajectory towards him.

Moving quickly towards the side, only for his eyes to widen as the spell followed him. Which shouldn't happen since he had to actually aim his spells; they usually don't follow their target if they are not designed that way.

The spell hit him on his palm and stung slightly.

"That's interesting. Not only is it able to reflect my magic, but it also gives it the property of this game spell. This was a stinging hex; it doesn't usually follow its target. The interaction between Magic and Nen is really fascinating. And useful…" A thought came into his mind.

"What else? You seem to have thought of something." She pointed out as he grabbed another card from his binder.

"Here I got another one. But you don't have to do this. There are some dangerous spells in my arsenal that are really powerful and usually unblockable. But I know that with powerful enough Nen, they can be blocked." Harry explained while remembering Uvogin punching his Killing Curse away.

"And you want to test whether these cards can block them?" She continued for him, "Will they kill me or seriously harm me?"

"Well, the one I want to try is the Torture Curse. It starts by causing a lot of pain, and I mean a lot. Holding it for a longer time on someone causes their mind to break and turns them mad. But that is usually several minutes of continuous usage. At first it's just a ton of pain. But I don't only want to see whether it can block an unblockable spell, but also whether it will keep working on a channeled one. So it will be just a ton of pain for a few seconds." He carefully watched her.

There was nothing in her eyes; she didn't flinch or reel back from his explanation, just grabbed the card as if it wasn't different from the previous test. And he could see in her eyes that a lot of pain didn't scare her.

As she used the spell card and it vanished again, she said, "Do it!"

"Okay, thank you." Harry said as he pointed his finger at her and said, "Crucio!"

For a moment nothing happened; the Cruciatus Curse doesn't emit any spell light; they just stared at each other for a moment.

Then he felt it, as if millions of tiny knives stabbed into every fiber of his body, while his own bones were on fire, and the blood in his body felt as if it turned into potent acid. Through the splitting headache, he forces himself to focus and hold the curse for several more seconds.

But the reflective shield around Shizuku just kept shining but didn't seem to weaken. It was holding an Unforgivable without weakening. And he couldn't feel a large amount of Aura in it.

It seems the flavor text of an ability, after creating it, is even more powerful than he had theorized. As long as one was able to create an Ability by having enough Aura, Talent, and Mastery over Nen, it would do what it promised.

No longer being able to focus on the spell through all that burning pain, Harry lifted it.

"That hurt." Harry sighed.

"So it worked; I wasn't sure since you didn't seem to react." Shizuku replied, confused.

"Oh, I endured it. I needed to see whether it would break under enough pressure. But Nen combined with different powers is really powerful." Harry said as he watched these cards carefully.

What was their limit?

Wizarding magic wasn't that powerful.

Would it block every kind of magic?

Like the Power of Destruction that can annihilate everything that Devils from the Houses Gremory and Bael are famous for?

Was it even magic, or more a power that was on a conceptual level already?

Only one way to try out.

"Here, this is the last one I got."

"He had a lot of them…"

"Well, these ones are not that rare. There are 120 of them in the game." Harry said as he focused.

"So what are you going to try now?"

"To see whether I can break that shield. This time it will be a stinging hex again." Harry said.

"Ok, that one is harmless." She nodded, "Ouch! How?"

She looked behind her, only to see a small portal right above her skin, another one in front of Harry.

"So while it can reflect stuff that hits it. It needs to be hit. You can bypass it." Harry nodded, "Last test! BOOST x10"

Harry's aura became 10 times stronger, releasing massive pressure on his surroundings.

"Eh, please don't kill me." While her words themselves sounded worried, she remained calm the whole time as if nothing had changed. Even though she could see the massive amount of Aura.

"It's a stinging hex again. But I need to power up to use an additional ability."

He didn't have the Power of Destruction, but he had different conceptual abilities that he stole from Ddraig, one of the Heavenly Dragons: "Penetrate!"

The white glowing stinging hex flew at Shizuku. When it should have impacted the Reflect Shield, it passed just through it as if nothing had happened.

Penetrate is an ability on the conceptual level that can modify attacks to bypass anything, directly hitting its target.

"Ouch, that also seems to work."

"Yes, so the defense isn't perfect. And it only works for Magic. I can still normally hit you." Harry threw a casual punch at her, which she blocked with her own hand. "Well, that confirmed what I wanted to know. Greed Island is a true treasure trove for me!"

"It seems so. So what's our next goal? Get more spells?"

"Spells, items, everything. And there are quite a lot of other tests we have to do too! And we need to find a hypothetical TV!"
