HOPE

Since ancient times, people have wondered how the universe came into existence. Everyone has their own theory, and when different ideas and theories begin to align, they form a shared belief—something powerful. That belief is called Hope.

This entire universe hangs by a thread woven from a single word: Hope.

Living beings have always worshipped a greater existence—a God. But to them, God is not just a being. God is hope, belief, desire, expectations, aspirations, optimism, and trust.

They worship because it gives them the hope that they can achieve something greater. It gives them assurance.

But what about those beings who don't believe in a greater existence—a God?

The answer has always been very simple. No matter how loudly they shout to deny it, it's a lie.

Deep down, in some quiet corner of their heart, they do believe.

A greater existence—a God—has always been, and always will be, the very synonym of hope.

In a dimly lit room, a boy sat in front of a strange-looking wall—his computer—glowing faintly in the darkness.

Click. Click. Click.

Click sounds echoed each time the boy pressed the round-shaped controller in his hands. A closer look revealed the boy laughing, shouting, and giggling—completely immersed in whatever he was doing.

"Yeahhh! Put some respect on my name, bitches!"

"Say it! Who's the boss now?!"

The boy looked very pleased with himself as he looked at the screen with pride, a deep satisfaction on his face!

"That's how it's supposed to be!"

"I'm a goddamn world champion now!"

He leaned back and grinned.

"Man, I should start practicing my signature. I'll be giving autographs left and right—can't have it look different every time."

He chuckled and began scribbling on a sheet of paper. Occasionally, he'd crumple one and toss it aside, then try again. He was completely lost in the moment.

Hours passed—nearly three of them—until suddenly, a sound broke the silence.

Beep.

But the boy was so focused on his work, he didn't even notice it.

Then it came again—louder.

Beep!!

"Hmm?"

He looked up at the glowing screen where the sound had come from.

"I'm sure I shut down my computer… Why is it still on?"

He stared at it for a moment, confused, then moved to shut it down again.

Satisfied, he returned to his paper, crumpled another failed attempt, and tried again. But then..

Beep!.

His eyes flicked back to the screen.

'I think it's time to buy a new computer…' he thought. 'It's been four years already.'

Muttering to himself, he pulled the cables out from the plugs and continued again, scribbling something on a sheet of paper.

Then, for nearly two more hours, he kept at it—until finally he finished, with a grin, he leaned back and said,

"Hee hee… I think this one's good enough."

He held up the paper proudly, admiring his work.

But while he was smiling, something else was happening on his computer.

A blue light suddenly flickered.

Then—without warning—the monitor turned back on.

And something happened that was not supposed to happen!

"Hello,Kyle."

Kyle froze.

Slowly, his smile disappeared.

He turned his head, scanning the room with wide eyes.

"W-Who called me?"

Kyle looked extremely pale at this moment because no one was supposed to be here in his room. Kyle lived alone in his house. That's why he was extremely anxious right now, that someone might have broken in!!

"W-Who are you? Show yourself! What do you want from me?!"

Fear wrapped its hands around him.

It wasn't rare for homes like his to get robbed—people living alone made for easy targets. And while most robbers just stole and ran, some...

Some hurt the owner.

Some even killed them!

Kyle knew that.

And right now, Kyle couldn't care less if some robbers loot his house because Kyle had become a world champion in the gaming industry now!! So he wasn't afraid of whether the robber looted his house or not.

He was a world champion gamer now—he could always buy more.

But what if this wasn't just a robbery?

What if they were here to hurt him...

Or kill him!?

"I—I don't know who you are," Kyle said, his voice trembling. "But you can take anything you want."

"I won't report it. I swear."

He tried to sound calm, but his heart was in chaos. He just wanted to get out of this situation as soon as possible!!

Then the voice spoke again.

"Kyle… I'm sorry."

The voice spoke to Kyle, filled with deep longing and sorrow.

For a moment, all of Kyle's fear vanished. The anxiety, the panic—it just stopped.

He stood frozen, barely breathing.

"I'm sorry, Kyle. I… I don't have… any right to ask for your forgiveness…"

The voice began to distort, breaking apart mid-sentence until its words were barely understandable.

"…don't hav…any time… Kyl… y.o.u wi… und.er.stand… some d… every… thing… I'm sorry… for ev…er…"

Then—

Silence.

Kyle stood there like a statue—motionless, emotionless, with no light in his eyes.

A few seconds later, he blinked and snapped out of it, utterly confused.

He had heard every word the voice said… yet he couldn't understand any of it.

It felt like the voice knew him. But Kyle was certain—he didn't know anyone like that. He had never met such a person in his entire life.

Or had he?

Maybe… in a past life?

Wait… past life!?

His head turned slowly toward the computer.

His breath caught.

The screen was glowing.

Blue light—intense and unnatural—pulsed from the monitor.

But… he had unplugged it hours ago.

And yet, it was on!!

The blue glow got brighter… and brighter… until the whole room was swallowed in blue.

"W-What is happening!?"

Kyle shouted with all his might, hoping someone—anyone—could tell him what was happening.

Sweat poured down his body. He knew he had to run. He had to escape the light.

But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't move—not even an inch.

The blue glow pulsed stronger and stronger, intensifying with every passing second.

Then, suddenly, it stopped.

The blue light vanished.

Kyle exhaled, slightly relieved.

But that relief didn't last.

Because right where the computer had been… a gate appeared.

Before Kyle could react—

He was pulled in.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

"WAITTTTTTTTT!!!"

And just like that—he was gone.

Silence returned to the room that once belonged to Kyle.

And on that day…

Kyle died.
