"Ugh, why does every single mess end up being my problem?" Isaldora muttered under her breath, letting out a loud, frustrated scoff as she stormed down the hall.
Her head was pounding from all the crap piling up. It felt like suddenly she was responsible for handling a dozen different crises. At first, her only focus was on her revenge — clean and simple. But now, all this extra baggage kept getting dumped on her without freakin' warning. Her mate, the rogue attacks, and now Renna's little freak-out show...
"No." she said suddenly, throwing her hands up stopping in her tracks, pushing down all the thoughts away. She took a deep breath.
"Alright, that's enough of this crap," She muttered to herself. "I'm done with all this extra drama. I just need to focus avenging my family. My Aetherwyn."
The memories crashed over her like a wave. She felt all the pain, could hear the screams again, loud and clear in her ears. She could see and smell the blood of her loved ones from that night, it felt all fresh and vivid as if it had just happened. Her nerves began to prickle, with raw rage and she could feel her power stirring to surface.
She moved closer to a large window in the corridor. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number. It rang a couple of times before the call connected.
"Hey Izzy! What's up? Were you missing me or something?" Hyden's cheerful voice boomed from the other side way too annoying for her current mood.
Isaldora rolled her eyes, watching the pack members going about their daily routine outside. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Hyden. Tell me, did you find anything about what I asked you to look into?"
"Ouch, cold as ever, I see. Ahhh, my heart's breaking over here, Izzy. I feel so loved right now." Hyden mocked, dragging out his words dramatically.
"HYDEN!" Isaldora whisper-shouted. She was already annoyed and wasn't in mood for more drama.
"Alright, alright, calm down, your very high grumpiness," Hyden scoffed, sighing and Isaldora could imagine his sorry self of expressions. "There's nothing useful that we found out yet but Lyna says she got a lead by some stupid manwhore whom she met at this club—"
"Cut the crap Hyden. Get to the point. You got something or not? A simple yes or no could work just fine." Isaldora snapped, cutting him off sharply. She needed a simple answer. Was it that difficult?
"You know what princess? You're a real piece of work sometimes with your rudeness." Hyden said, all the humor vanishing from his voice. "But you don't care about anyone's feelings, do you izzy?"
Isaldora scoffed, tapping her foot on the floor waiting for him to get over his sorry feelings. She heard a loud, defeated sigh from the other side.
"Anyway, me and that siren are checking out this secret club in the city to dig on that lead she mentioned." Hyden said.
Isaldora hummed as she continued staring outside. She was about to say something when she caught a group of warriors were shoving three people into a low building near the edge of the training grounds.
"Uhh, okay let me know whatyou find and I'll get back to you." she said abruptly and hung up before he could respond.
Her full attention was now locked on that building where the strangers had just disappeared.
—
Hyden stared at his phone in disbelief before huffing and tossing it across the table.
"Why does she always has to be so damn rude, bossing me around like that? I thought we were partners." He muttered, throwing his head back on the chair, frustrated.
He felt a hand sliding up his thigh, stroking. Looking down he saw the blonde he brought for the day, kneeling between his legs now. A smirk spread across his face as he pulled her up in his lap, smashing his lips on hers in a deep kiss while he pulled down her already ripped blouse.
He then moved down kissing her neck while massaging her chest through the lace. He pulled back and lifted her on his desk, rolling his chair closer.
Well after that whole messy incident in Isaldora's office with her assistant, he was given a separate office and was practically banned from ever entering her office again. So, he figured he could now have his fun here, right?
He tugged her bra down. The blonde moaned loudly like a horn pulling at his hair.
He was having his quality time and was about to move his hand beneath her skirt when the door to his office slammed open.
His head jerked to the door, standing up so fast he almost knocked the chair in the process, pushing the girl back. "What the fuck bitch?" He cursed looking at the person and scowled in the proces. "Ever heard of the word knocking?"
"Tsk... Tsk... Tsk. Still at it, I see? You are quite shameless, aren't you?" Lyna leaned against the door, shaking her head playfully. "It's fascinatingly dumb that you didn't get your lesson from the first time." She took in the sight before her. And Hyden? Honestly she wanted to laugh and held it barely, seeing how he stood there, looking panicked like a deer caught in headlights.
"Well it's fuckin' none of your business whore." Hyden snapped and then he glared at the confused girl still sitting on his desk, too shocked to cover herself. "What are you waiting for? Get out." He hissed at her and she scurried away, adjusting her clothes.
"Darling it is my business. You do remember why I am here right?" Lyna purred, pushing off the door, swaying forward and Hyden glared at her knowing what she meant. "Exactly to put a leash on your horny self." She stopped in front of him.
Hyden dragged a hand through his already messy hair, letting out a frustrated huff. He was seriously annoyed. "Why are you here anyway, Lyna? What do you want?" He snapped in annoyance, tucking his shirt back in and fixing his pants. She'd totally killed the mood and he didn't even got his release.
"Ugh, get over yourself. I'm not here for you," Lyna shot back, making a disgusted face. "Trust me, being around you is my last choice. I just came to say we'll be going to the club tonight." She rolled her eyes so hard it was a miracle they stayed in her head.
"Hmmm, why're you so eager to go clubbing with me, huh?" Hyden stepped closer to where she was standing, a teasing smirk on his face. "Got a little crush you're not admitting?"
Lyna raised her brow at his imagination like 'seriously' and scoffed looking him up and down. "Phleaseee, I'd rather die than ever considering to crush over your horny ass." She chuckled sarcastically, tossing her gorgeous dark waves over her shoulder.
Hyden's jaw ticked but he smirked nonetheless, "The feeling's mutual, bitch. Now tell me when will be heading out."
——
Isaldora was just about to slip out the door to follow those warriors when a voice stopped her.
"Isla, sweetie! You heading out somewhere important?" Lysendra's cheerful call made her freeze mid-step.
Isaldora turned to find Lysendra and Lira standing there, both watching her with way too much curiosity.
"I was just heading out for fresh air. Nothing important." Isaldora said, keeping her voice cool, arching a brow. She sneaked a quick peak back at the building before focusing on Lysendra. "Why do you ask?"
"Oh, no reason! I was just asking. You just seemed in a bit of a hurry," Lysendra shrugged lightly with a warm, bright smile as she and Lira moved closer.
"Can I hep you with somethin'? Isalodra asked her eyes darting between them. Something was fishy.
"Honey, no need to be this formal." Lysendra waved her off, giving her shoulder a friendly pat. "But since you asked... I do have a tiny little favor to ask." She put on her most hopeful expression. In fact Lira beside her was practically vibrating with excitement, watching with big, expectant eyes.
Oh great, what's going on now? Isaldora thought, already feeling a headache coming on. She gave a slow nod for Lysendra to continue.
"How about you and Lira have a girls' day out?Go to the mall, get some dresses, accessories, shoes, and bags... you know, just hang out and bond a little?" Lysendra suggested, her smile widening.
Isaldora was completely thrown off guard, confused. She glanced at Lira, and the brat was grinning like an idiot. Is she for real right now? Isaldora scoffed almost letting out a disbelieving laugh.
"It's not a problem, is it? I'm not disturbing you, right?" Lysendra pressed, her tone light and warm but undeniably insistent.
Isaldora wanted to deny spot on, but the word "no" just wouldn't come out. For some reason, saying no to Lysendra felt as impossible as saying no to Edina.
She shot a death glare at Lira, who just smiled wider, then looked back at Lysendra's hopeful face, waiting for her answer.
"Okay." Isaldora finally relented with a deep sigh.
"REALLY?!" Lira shrieked, launching herself at Isaldora and latching onto her arm, jumping up and down like a hyperactive puppy.
Isaldora winced, her arm getting jerked around. She gave a stiff nod, and Lira let out another ear-splitting squeal.
"Lira, honey tone it down a bit! Are you trying to shatter the windows with your squeals?" Lysendra laughed, shaking her head at her daughter's endless energy.
"Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Just wait right here, gimme a second, I'll grab my bag and my card!" Lira yelled, finally dropping Isaldora's now-aching arm with a jolt almost tearing it off. Then she sprinted down the hall to her room, like her life depended on it.
"She's such a tiger." Lysendra said, still chuckling, shaking her head. She turned back to Isaldora, her expression softening. "Thank you, sweetie. I know you're not completely comfortable with us yet, but maybe just give us a chance. Okay?" She pulled Isaldora into a quick, warm side hug before heading off with a smile.
Isaldora looked back at the building then scoffed closing her eyes.
