Chapter 1 - 0.Introduction

Long ago, this planet had no alteration of Xer.

No supernatural events. Just common folk walking on the ground.

One day, that changed. Under the blue sky, plants began to change. They grew taller and developed different colors. Then came the animals. Some grew bigger, fiercer, and stronger, and gained elemental powers.

Humans were a weak species even before the transformation. All they had was their trust in their weapons, but now those weapons were useless.

This also changed human society. As the creatures outside became more dangerous, the city walls were reinforced and upgraded to protect those living inside. The poorer ones, however, were thrown out beyond the walls.

Those who were thrown out mutated into Xernians.

Some feared them, some hated them, and some called them a blasphemy. Fleeing from that civilization, they founded various Base Camps where they could live normally.

That was considered Year 0 of Athea, based on the research of the Xernians known as Zepher.

It was a new world. A new era.

As the years passed, the changes became part of everyday life. New generations were born into a world shaped by Xer, knowing nothing of the one that came before.

And so, 124 years passed.

Until, one day, a strange phenomenon appeared in the middle of the sky...

«Don't let her escape!»

A little girl was running across the rooftops of a tall, walled city. The moon was full, shining brightly in the clear sky.

Tap-tap-taptaptaptap...

Fast, light footsteps echoed through the empty streets, followed by the stomping of a group on the ground below.

Her hidden face was painted with panic, her breath warming her against the cold night as she jumped from roof to roof.

«Group C, do you copy?»

«Yeah, I copy... Man, why do we have to wake up so late for that kid?»

«Do I have to remind you that it isn't a child, but an abomination?»

«Chill, I was just kidding. In fact, we got her.»

Tud!

A tile fell away as a purplish ray lit up the night.

Her breath caught.

«I wish that you all pay for your cruelty...»

Ha...

«What... is that...?»

As she fell, the sky mutated.

The light was no longer coming from the moon. It seemed to be absorbed by something.

The night grew darker and darker.

Tud.

Her little body fell onto the cold metal ground.

Lights began to appear around the city...

No.

Around the world.

The sky cleared for an instant, and all that remained of the body was a puddle of blood.

«Damn Xernians... FIND HER! DO NOT LET HER ESCAPE!»

«On it!»
