Early the next morning.
A beam of sunlight spilled through the window and landed on Andrew's cheek.
Even though this was just a rented apartment, Mahiru Shiina's room had surprisingly good lighting.
Andrew slowly opened his eyes and twitched his nose.
A sweet fragrance filled his senses, and something soft and warm was snuggled tightly against his chest.
He blinked and looked down—an adorable little face was resting right on his chest.
Staring at the girl's pretty, sleeping face, Andrew finally remembered.
He remembered... yesterday, he had forced Mahiru into his arms, taken over her bed, and made her sleep with him.
No doubt about it—he'd been a total scumbag.
Still... as shameless as it was, he couldn't lie—it felt amazing.
Holding a soft, sweet-smelling, angel-like girl in his arms? He couldn't help but feel a bit smug.
Guess it's true what they say—the early bird gets the girl.
Even though Mahiru clearly saw him as the villain and hadn't shown any of that famous gentleness of hers yet, Andrew was confident he could win her over.
She was already his familiar now—no escape!
Not wanting to wake her, Andrew closed his eyes again. It was still early—he could sneak in a few more minutes of cuddling.
Once she woke up, though, he wouldn't be able to keep holding her like this.
Besides, he had school today.
As the unlucky dude who got hit by a car on his very first day, today was actually the first time he'd be meeting his classmates.
A few minutes later...
Mahiru slowly opened her eyes.
The moment she noticed the guy holding her, she gasped—but quickly slapped a hand over her mouth to keep quiet.
As she glanced toward the sunlight shining on the desk, a complicated expression crossed her face.
"…It's morning already?"
She mumbled softly, her eyes shifting to Andrew, who still had his eyes shut.
"Quit faking it—I know you're awake."
At that, Andrew opened his eyes immediately. "How'd you know?"
Mahiru blushed furiously and shoved his chest.
"Your pervy little friend gave you away! You creep—let go of me! It's time to get up!"
Busted by his own body, Andrew didn't even flinch.
Thick-skinned as ever, he calmly tightened his arms around her for a second, took a deep whiff of her scent, and finally let her go—just in time for her to scramble out of bed in a panic.
With cheeks still slightly flushed, Mahiru glared hard at him for his shameless behavior.
But her heart was racing.
"Can you please get out? This is my room!" she said coldly, forcing down her embarrassment.
"Of course. See you at school, Miss Shiina."
Andrew gave her a smile, took one last glance, and casually walked out of her room.
As soon as he was gone, Mahiru let out a small "Tch."
"Perverted creep…"
But strangely enough, her mood had already settled.
It wasn't that bad.
After all, he hadn't done anything to her this morning.
…Though last night was still utterly unforgivable.
Mahiru had already made up her mind: at school, she'd completely ignore him.
Andrew threw together some quick egg fried rice for breakfast, then changed into the Seijō high Academy school uniform and headed out.
The door next to his had already been locked—clearly Mahiru had no intention of waiting for him and had left on her own.
Eh, no big deal.
First, he had to take care of his money issues. Still had writing to do, too.
After hopping on the train to Seijō High Academy, Andrew made a beeline for the staff office for Class 1-B.
And the moment he saw the woman with pink hair, dressed in business attire and a tight black skirt—his calm totally vanished.
Because standing there was none other than Tōgasu Mafuyu.
From the anime We Never Learn, one of the most popular heroines!
Tōgasu Mafuyu looked at the poor kid who'd gotten hit by a car on day one and let out a sigh.
Setting his student file aside, she spoke in a calm, serious voice:
"Andrew, I'm glad to see you've been discharged. Come with me to class—you'll need to introduce yourself so you can settle in."
At school, Mafuyu always kept a strict, icy persona—it was the only way to keep the rowdier students in line.
Andrew nodded seriously.
"Thank you, Miss Tōgasu. I'll do my best."
To make you mine too!
He sneaked a glance at the beautiful teacher and followed her quietly down the hall to the classroom.
As soon as they stepped inside, Mafuyu clapped her hands, and the whole class immediately went quiet.
"Everyone, we have a new student joining us today. I hope you'll all get along and grow together."
She waved at the door. "Come in, Andrew."
Andrew walked in naturally, and his eyes quickly found Mahiru, sitting toward the back-middle of the room.
Then he turned to the blackboard, picked up a piece of chalk, and wrote his name.
"Hey everyone, I'm Andrew. I'm that unlucky guy who got hit by a car on the first day of school."
The room burst into laughter.
Andrew grinned.
"Yeah, it was a weird start, but I'm out of the hospital now. I'm really hoping to get along with you all from here on out. Please take care of me!"
He gave a polite bow—and was rewarded with a round of applause.
"Well said, Andrew. Go find a free seat—we're about to begin."
"Got it, sir."
With his briefcase in hand, Andrew made his way to an empty seat in the very back row by the window.
"..."
