After class ended, the trio made their way to the academy's wide-open training fields, where the golden afternoon sun bathed the grass in a warm glow. Students in other corners were already sparring, conjuring elements, or blowing things up far too enthusiastically.
Ezren flopped onto the ground like he'd just escaped prison.
"Finally. I thought Bront was gonna make us run laps for blinking too slow."
"You blink slow all the time," Kagetsu said flatly, arms crossed.
Mira stood beside them, quietly watching a group of upperclassmen hurl lightning bolts at target dummies like it was no big deal.
Kagetsu turned to her, his expression serious.
"Alright, Mira. I've seen you fight a bit, but i still don't really know what you can do. You good with sharing?"
Mira blinked. Then, in her usual quiet tone, she spoke:
"...I can shape parts of my body with earth. Any part. If I form an ear, I can hear from it. If I make a hand, I can feel with it. Even a nose... I can smell."
Ezren's jaw dropped.
"Wait, you're like a build-your-own human kit? That's insane."
"No. I'm Mira," she replied blankly.
There was a pause.
"Was... was that a joke?" Ezren asked, wide-eyed.
"I'm not sure," Kagetsu muttered.
He stepped closer, curious now.
"So… have you ever tried making an entire body? Like, a full-body earth clone of yourself?"
Mira shook her head.
"No. That'd take a lot of mana. And control."
"Exactly why you should try," Kagetsu said, giving her a nod. "If you can do this, you could make an army of Clones and if you can make clones of other people, the possibilities will be endless."
Mira looked down at her hands, thoughtful. For a brief moment, the ground near her feet trembled ever so slightly.
Ezren clapped his hands once.
"Alright! Mira's making mud people! What am I doing?"
Kagetsu turned to him with that usual smug expression.
"Portals are flashy, yeah. But right now, you're more support than offense."
"Wow. Way to boost team morale."
"Let me finish, dumbass," Kagetsu grinned. "I've been watching you and how your portals work. you have wordless incantation and your portal are able to Alter the reality of space, But you can only use it for a limited amount of time and there is a time limit on your portals duration, for now your portals are around Ascended Rank,"
But the backlash is too much, Because your only an Awakened Rank. which is why you should only use it when you really need it. so how about you try to use spells in the level of your Essentia rank" Kagetsu added
Ezren scratched his head.
"Which ones are there?"
"Try lower-middle rank spell, I know of one, it's called Shadow grip, you can use shadow to immobalize someone for 3-10 seconds. which is plenty of time to attack someone"
Ezren blinked.
"...That sounds way cooler than support."
"since you can already use full portals which need a saint level mana core i think youll be able to master this spell very fast."
"Get to work boy" Kagetsu added
"Got it Boss."
The training began. Mira closed her eyes, breathing deeply said the incantation "Earth creation magic: Earthshaper" and the soil under her feet began to rise, slowly shaping into an outline. Ezren held out his hands, forming a portal square around a stray pebble, his brows furrowed in deep concentration.
Kagetsu stepped back, Training His Ghost pulse by Using it non-stop to Improve Stamina.
"Alright," he murmured to himself. "Let's turn this mess into a real team."
