Ye Chen's smile faded. He hadn't expected someone else to step in at the last moment.
The voice clearly belonged to a woman, and she was in the VIP room directly across from his. This made Ye Chen curious.
Could she be a cultivator too? Maybe she also knew about the true value of the Reideran Pendant.
"Two million six hundred thousand," Ye Chen gritted his teeth and raised the bid.
"Four million," the woman replied without hesitation.
Ye Chen frowned. Her increase was aggressive and unexpected.

But Ye Chen shook his head. "No, Liu Yue. I have to get that pendant."
This item was far too valuable to let go. It might look ordinary to others, but to Ye Chen, it was worth more than any amount of money.
He could earn more money later, but he might never find another treasure like this pendant again.
"Six million!" Ye Chen raised the price again.
"Seven million," the woman responded almost casually.
"Ten million!" Ye Chen suddenly shouted, unable to hold back his emotions.
His voice echoed loudly across the auction hall, drawing everyone's attention.
He had unknowingly released some of his spiritual power, startling those nearby. Even Liu Yue was taken aback by the pressure in Ye Chen's voice.
After that, the woman went silent. She didn't place another bid.
Ye Chen narrowed his eyes and tried to lock onto her presence again.

"Now, let's move on to the next item," the announcer said cheerfully.
The next item was a painting from a century before Christ.
The starting price was 2 million dollars, and it came with verified authentication.
As expected, collectors eagerly jumped in, and the final winning bid reached 15 million dollars, claimed by another guest in a different VIP room.
"Next, we present our final auction item," the announcer declared.
A staff member brought out a small document and placed it on the stage.
"This is a certificate of land ownership along with a villa built on the property.
The starting bid is one million dollars, with minimum increases of one hundred thousand. Let's begin."
To Ye Chen's surprise, no one started bidding.
A villa for just one million dollars was absurdly cheap. Why wasn't anyone taking it?
He still had two million dollars left and needed a place to live anyway. Why not try?
"One million one hundred thousand!" Ye Chen offered confidently.
"Wait, what kind of villa is being sold?" a curious bidder asked from the audience.
People weren't bidding simply because they didn't know which villa was up for auction. After all, even a poor-quality villa in the city usually started at five to ten million dollars. For this one to start at just one million, there had to be something strange about it.
"This villa is located in the Golden Eagle District, number 22," the auctioneer replied.
The moment the address was revealed, murmurs swept through the crowd. Everyone stiffened.
Villa Number 22 in the Golden Eagle District was notorious. Locals referred to it as the Cursed Villa. Its previous owners had all faced bizarre accidents—mysterious illnesses, fatal mishaps, financial ruin, and even madness. No one had dared to live there for years.
Ye Chen turned to Liu Yue. "Do you know anything about this villa?"
Liu Yue furrowed her brows. "It's just a few houses away from mine. The rumors are true—many people who lived there suffered misfortunes. Some fell ill, others went mad. A few even died under strange circumstances. Still, I have to admit, it's more luxurious than my current home."

Liu Yue quickly said, "Ye Chen, I suggest you cancel the bid. I'll help you talk to the staff."
But Ye Chen smiled and replied, "Thank you, Liu Yue, but you don't need to worry. I can handle it."
Liu Yue looked at Ye Chen's calm expression and remembered how he had healed her grandmother—a miracle even doctors had failed at. Ye Chen wasn't an ordinary person.
"If you're sure, then I won't stop you," she said quietly.
No one else dared to raise a bid. In the end, Ye Chen won the villa for only one million dollars.
It was a stroke of incredible luck. He had just acquired a villa worth nearly 100 million dollars for a fraction of the price—all because others were too afraid of a curse.
As the auction came to an end, people began leaving the hall. Some couldn't help but glance at Ye Chen's VIP room with pity, thinking he had made a terrible mistake by buying that cursed place.
Ye Chen and Liu Yue, however, remained calm as they went to collect the items he had won—especially the mysterious Reideran Pendant necklace, which would soon prove to be far more than just an antique.
