Chapter 1 - King Lott

(This is a new project, guys! I know I'm not the best at continuing my stories — mostly due to lack of motivation and, well, no one commenting. So lend me some of Vergil's motivation, please. I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING!!)

I was cooked — no, deep-fried, you can say even roasted.

I found myself in a situation worse than death.

Yes… I'm in the damn Fate(nasuverse).

After I died, I woke up here. In my previous life, I was obsessed with anime, games, manhwa… You know, the usual stuff.

The cause of death? Caffeine overdose. I mean, yeah, that's on me, but what could I do? I was 24, working long hours, running on coffee and energy drinks to survive in life.

Last thing I remember is my eyes slowly closing on a train ride… and bammm, now I'm here.

My current name? Lott, King of Orkney. When I first looked in the mirror and saw Saber's face staring back at me, I almost had a heart attack.

Thanks to this body's memories, I knew it immediately — I was in Fate.

But then something popped up in front of me… a system screen.

Was this some divine gift? Thanks, God… or Goddess? I guess?

[Achievement System Activated]

[This system grants the host missions. Completion results in rewards drawn from anime/game universes.]

Oh no… is this one of those systems that force you to complete quests or face punishment?

[Negative. Failure to complete a mission does not result in punishment.]

Okay… whew. That's great. But… what about the Counter Force? Aren't I like a walking violation of causality now?

My paranoia is rising with every second.

Anyway, what's my current achievement?

[1 Achievement Unlocked]

[Die and Transmigrate: Mystic Eyes of Death Perception]

Wait… what? My brain just short-circuited. That's an achievement reward?

When I accepted it, my eyes burned like hell, and my brain was flooded with information because those eyes connected to ROOT. Damn it hurts…

When I tried to shut it off, the pain eased. These eyes are directly connected to the brain and transfer insane amounts of data when activated.

Still… even with this power, I feel insanely underpowered. In this world, I'm just a grilled chicken nugget in a Grail War-sized barbecue.

Knock knock.

"Enter," I said without looking up.

The door opened, and an old butler came in. His face looked like he'd just eaten something like shit, wrinkled, stressed beyond belief.

"My King… King Uther's envoy has arrived. He wishes to see you."

Ah. That explains the look on his face.

I dismissed him and quickly changed, placing the crown on my head before heading straight to the envoy's hall.

Two guards opened the grand doors. The envoy rose as I entered, standing stiffly. Two knights stood behind me in silence.

He looked at me — his expression neutral, but I could sense mockery beneath it.

As if he was waiting for something…

Maybe he's just impatient. Or maybe he just doesn't care.

"King Lott," he said coldly, "how long will you continue to ignore King Uther's letters?"

My expression tightened. I knew exactly what this was about — and it was bad.

A political marriage with Morgan Le Fay.

Hell no.

She's insane. And I still remember the wise words of a modern philosopher: Don't stick your d in crazy women.

Not to mention her daddy issues. And as if that wasn't enough, she has an unhealthy obsession with being the queen of Camelot.

And wait, wasn't it Morgause in the legends who married me? We supposedly had a ton of kids together? I don't know much about her character, but Fate doesn't even mention her properly. What a mess.

If Morgause doesn't exist in this version of Fate, I'm not marrying Morgan. I'd pick someone else, thanks.

But then, the system, in true troll fashion, popped up again. Right as I was staring down the envoy.

[Achievement: Marry Morgan Le Fay — Line of the Sun Dragon]

Goddammit.

I tried to keep a poker face, but the envoy must've sensed something. He looked almost offended — which was dangerous. An envoy, he represents Camelot.

If things got ugly here, it could lead to war.

And I'm not afraid of war — but would my people survive it?

I sighed and looked into the envoy's eyes.

"I understand Camelot's intentions, envoy. And I do wish to form a connection with the great King Uther. But… is this marriage truly necessary?"

The envoy relaxed slightly.

"I am merely a messenger, your grace. I carry the king's will. If King Uther demands this union… You either accept or refuse."

His tone was sharper by the end, almost smug.

But I, Lott, was calculating. How long would it take to reform Orkney's noble class into a military council? How quickly could I improve the economy with agricultural reforms?

Right now… I had no time to gamble.

"I accept," I said, finally. "Inform King Uther. He may choose the date of the wedding."

The envoy looked visibly relieved. Because even though I'm young, I'm not weak. And war with me would cost both sides dearly.

He stood and bowed.

"The king will be pleased. You shall receive the next letter with the wedding date."

With that, he left, no further words. I sent some knights to escort them.

[Mission Complete]

[Achievement: Marry and Man Up — Line of the Sun Dragon]

[Claim Reward?]

I dismissed the remaining knights and accepted the reward.

Something began burning inside me.

My ether form was changing — I wanted to scream.

My bright golden hair gleamed even more, and my eyes turned into oceans of pure blue.

I felt scorching heat spreading through my body. My shoulders ached violently.

If someone were to examine my body now, they'd scream.

My ether(we can say it's magic) was blazing like a mini-sun.

My frame became sturdier.

Dragon scales formed on both shoulders — retractable beneath the skin.

And my soul… it glowed so brightly that if this were DanMachi, Freya would raze Orario just to claim me.

The scales were gold — they felt strangely comforting. At least, no black sludge came out of my body like in some Chinese cultivation bullshit.

Just pure fire. Burning away everything impure.

After that, I returned to my office to bury myself in paperwork. The envoy had been received in the main hall.

I needed to calm down. So I drowned myself in duty.
