Chapter 109: Order [2]
"Akamir."
Nayomi's voice echoed from behind him.
"The food is poisoned."
Akamir didn't even flinch at her words.
He leaned back, casting a quick glance over the dishes lined in front of him.
All of them were beautifully presented, like made by the best chef out there.
Yet...
'So this is why he called me,' he thought. 'To give me an end—'
"Aldric's food is also poisoned," Nayomi said, taking him by surprise. "So is Darvin's food."
Akamir rubbed his eyebrow with his thumb as he looked at Prince Lucien.
The boy wasn't even trying to hide the grin on his face.
'Oh, you stupid child,'
Akamir thought as he looked at him with nothing except pity.
'You really wanted to die so badly.'
Akamir could have just told everyone that the food was poisoned and the prince would be fucked.
Even though he didn't have any proof, his words would have definitely created a huge effect in his plans.
But...
'I don't want Aldric alive as well,' he thought, glancing at the king who gulped down his food. 'He is far more dangerous than his son.'
Akamir glanced at Nayomi as if asking her for more information.
Nayomi hovered near his shoulder, invisible to the others.
"It's not strong poison," she whispered. "Won't kill you instantly, but will chip down your mana core slowly."
"A way to cure it?" he asked, keeping his voice barely audible.
"Yes," she replied softly. "There is a potion in my palace that can help with it."
Akamir nodded silently.
Aldric was chewing a piece of meat, wine trickling down his chin like blood.
He looked completely unfazed, either too drunk or too mad to care.
Lucien was eating his food as well, and so were the others.
Akamir glanced at Balkri. 'Is he with Lucien now?'
It could be possible, and Akamir wasn't happy with it.
'Inara barely has any support and this stupid prince is getting everything.'
"Not hungry?" Lucien asked suddenly, his mouth full. "Come now, Asher. You haven't touched a thing."
"I was admiring it," Akamir said. "Would be a shame to waste such effort."
"Then eat," the prince smiled. "Let's not be rude."
Akamir raised his fork, spearing a thin slice of the duck.
"Don't worry," Nayomi said, floating close by. "I would die if you die too."
'Is she trying to say she really has a cure?'
Akamir wondered as he took a bite of the food.
Surprisingly, there was nothing out of place.
The food was definitely delicious.
He chewed slowly, letting the flavors melt on his tongue.
And when he swallowed, Lucien couldn't hide the smile on his face.
'He seems more happy by eliminating me than his own father.'
That told him how much he desired her more than anything.
And Akamir didn't like that one bit.
'I would give you the most painful death, Lucien.'
---
It took them almost a quarter of an hour to eat all of their food.
As the maids took away the used plates, Akamir glanced at Aldric.
Aldric fished around his mouth with a golden toothpick, lounging back in his chair like a lion after a kill.
His robes had loosened even more, revealing a faded scar running across his collarbone.
"Damn duck," he muttered, picking. "Always gets stuck between the back ones."
One of the maids stepped forward to pour him more wine, but Aldric waved her off.
"No more," he said. "I'm already half in the clouds."
The others were as silent as before, keeping themselves in check.
Lucien looked the most relaxed of all.
He leaned back in his chair, arms stretched as if this was his victory feast already.
"Quite the dinner," he said. "Wouldn't you agree, Father?"
Aldric grunted. "I've had better. But the company was... entertaining."
Lucien tilted his head. "You still seem quiet, Asher. Feeling alright?"
"I'm just full," Akamir replied. "And don't have energy to spare on idiots."
Lucien narrowed his eyes for a brief second before the smile returned.
"You should be careful with your tongue, boy," Aldric said, still smiling. "He could be the next king."
"Not until Inara is alive," Akamir replied, looking at the king. "She is more suited for the throne, don't you think?"
Aldric didn't respond to his words as he threw the toothpick away.
"Come with me," he said, grunting as he stood. "We should have some talk."
Akamir silently stood up from his seat as he followed him.
Darvin still gave him a stern look, but Akamir didn't respond.
The king walked down the hallway, staring at the paintings that were hanging on the walls.
Finally, he stopped at one of them that was placed opposite the window.
The moonlight shone on it, illuminating the painting.
"Do you know him?" Aldric asked, pointing at it.
Akamir looked at the painting of a man, wearing graceful armour.
He looked tall and imposing, the arrogance of his face remained clear.
"He was the last member of the otherworlder Akira Fujii's bloodline,"
Aldric said, after not getting an answer from him.
Akamir looked at him. "The one who died due to his potential?"
"Partially, yes," Aldric nodded, staring at the painting. "But the reason for my ancestors to rebel against him was different."
Akamir looked at him in silence.
"It was for a girl," Aldric replied, his voice filled with mockery. "He died because he and my ancestor fancied the same girl."
Akamir blinked slowly.
That was... underwhelming. But also, strangely believable.
Aldric laughed dryly, running a hand through his messy beard.
"You expected something grander, didn't you?" he said. "A rebellion sparked by injustice, power, or betrayal."
He tapped the side of his head with a thick finger.
"No. Men are simpler than that. Pride, lust, and jealousy. That's what brings kingdoms down."
He looked back at the painting again, eyes distant.
"That fool, he had power and potential. Blood from another world, but he lost everything over a woman."
Akamir tilted his head slightly. "What happened to her?"
"The woman?" he asked. "She married some fancy guy on the other side of the world."
A pause.
"And you know what my ancestor did?" Aldric chuckled, stepping closer to the window. "He burned himself after the rejection."
Akamir frowned, unable to understand what was so special about the woman.
So, he asked, "Why do this all for a woman?"
"Because that woman was special," Aldric replied. "She was Avatar of Goddess Morana."
"..."
Akamir's face turned cold as he looked at the king's back.
It only took him a few seconds to grasp the entire situation.
And the first thing that came to his mind was—
'Can I kill him right now?'
"You can't," Nayomi said, making him halt. "Not yet."
Akamir drew in a deep breath as the king looked back at him.
"You're a strange one, boy," Aldric said suddenly. "You don't smile, you don't bow, and yet you sit at my table like it belongs to you."
"I didn't notice," Akamir replied. "Must be subconscious."
Aldric barked out a short laugh. "True."
He turned back to face him, his eyes now sharper.
"You hate my son."
"I don't think that's a secret."
"You think he's not fit to rule?"
"Who am I to say that?"
Aldric looked at him before he replied.
"I think he is," his voice remained unsure. "At least he can't become a puppet like Inara."
Akamir drew in a deep breath as he asked, "Why call me here?"
Aldric didn't respond right away.
He stepped away from the window and continued walking down the corridor, hands behind his back.
Akamir followed, waiting for his response.
"I know about Zaina," Aldric said what Akamir predicted. "That she is the new Avatar."
Akamir closed his eyes and opened them again. "What about it?"
"I plan to not repeat my ancestor's mistake," he replied, laughing on his own. "I would have married her myself but I don't think the church will allow it."
"....."
Akamir stopped and so did Aldric.
He turned around and walked closer to him.
Aldric placed his heavy hand on his shoulder and squeezed tightly.
"I have an order for you, Asher," he said, his voice cold. "When the Duke of Polama returns in two months, you will revoke your engagement with her."
Akamir met his gaze. "Why so?"
"So I can marry her to Lucien," he replied, squeezing his shoulder bone. "I want her to bear the child of the royal family."
He squeezed even more tightly.
"And you..." his cold voice echoed, "will be a good boy and let it happen."
Aldric patted his shoulder once before he walked past him.
"Don't do anything foolish and die early, boy."
With that, he walked away, leaving Akamir alone.
Akamir bit down hard on his lips.
The anger that he was controlling, only he knew how hard it was.
"Ahh, this entire family,"
Akamir said, looking at the moon.
"They all want to die, don't they?"

Chapter 110: Volume Epilogue [1]
[Pandora Academy.]
[Velyrian's Office.]
The light remained dim in the large room filled with different innovative things.
An elf with blonde hair cascading behind him, sat on a wheelchair staring blankly at the half-made staff in front of him.
The long desk was cluttered with old scrolls, broken crystal shards, metallic pieces, and blueprints with scribbled notes.
Velyrian didn't move from his place.
His fingers rested on the armrest of the wheelchair, pale and unmoving.
The half-made staff on the table pulsed faintly, threads of magic twitching through its core, yet something about it remained incomplete.
.....It was broken.
Just like him.
'He was right.'
Velyrian thought, pinching the bridge of his nose.
'...The diagram has a lot of flaws.'
It wasn't a failure for nothing as his own master had said it's not worth working on.
'Still, it's good that I asked him.'
He remembered what the wheat-blonde-haired boy told him.
....How to make this thing at least function properly.
Even though Velyrian was grateful for his help.
He was still extremely wary of that boy.
'I can't forget the nightmare even if I want to.'
Velyrian clearly remembered what he saw that day.
How he saw his whole world getting destroyed by Akamir's hand.
Thinking about it, his hand, subconsciously, fell onto his chest.
Where his heart should be....which was now replaced by the Ven core.
"What does this damn thing even want from me?"
He thought, his eyes red from anger.
"Why did it even enter my body?"
The question echoed in his mind, but no answer came.
Only the soft hum of the Ven core beneath his chest.
It was quiet all the time, but it was always there.
Velyrian gritted his teeth and leaned back into his chair, letting out a heavy sigh.
Though, there was one more thing that bothered him as much as this.
Drawing in a soft breath, he grabbed the photo frame on his table.
The one that had the picture of his daughter.
The picture was blurry but was enough to make his heart melt.
'I wonder...how are you doing everything alone.'
How long has it been since he left her?
Thirty? Thirty-five?
He wasn't sure.
The passage of time was always screwed for an elf.
He just sighed, placing the frame back as he closed his eyes.
Perhaps things would have been different if he wasn't obsessed with the Ven core.
....Maybe, he would have been a great father then.
'My wife would have killed me if she was there.'
He thought, smiling when he remembered her.
'I turned into a male for her yet....'
Velyrian let out another sigh.
Though he was born with the constitution of a female.
He turned into a male when he met his wife.
Elves only love one person in all their life and can only change to one gender.
'Maybe...I should visit my daughter soon.'
Though, he wasn't so sure if his daughter will accept him.
A soft breeze drifted through the half-open window, rustling the papers on his desk.
Velyrian opened his eyes as he moved forward.
"Huh?"
Only to fall down his chair as his chest began to burn.
"URGHH!!!"
Velyrian yelled at the top of his lungs as he grabbed his chest.
The pain felt like his chest was being filled with lava.
The pain didn't stop but it kept building, making it difficult to breathe.
Velyrian's vision blurred as he tried to grab anything, knocking over a box of gears that clattered loudly across the floor.
His hands trembled as he clutched his chest, where the Ven core pulsed violently under his skin.
It glowed through his robes, shining a dull, angry red.
"What... is this...?" he gasped, his breath ragged.
His back arched involuntarily as a second wave of heat surged through his veins.
"Stop... Stop it...!" Velyrian shouted, trying to force it back down with his mana.
But the core didn't listen.
It rejected him, pushing his own mana out of alignment.
The pain snapped his consciousness as his body fell down helplessly.
---
'Huh?'
When Velyrian regained his consciousness, he found himself in the same starry sky.
His body was turning into a cluster of glowing light with mechanical veiny legs.
'W-What is happening now?'
He wondered, looking around the place to find anything or anyone.
Yet...
It was still the same.
Nothing but a vast emptiness.
Velyrian blinked, trying to comprehend what happened.
But...
His vision blurred once again.
Now, his consciousness stood in front of a Sun.
Not an ordinary one.
But.....
'....'
A broken Golden Sun.
Velyrian's soul trembled violently as he finally understood where he was.
'Oh, God.....'
He was in the presence of an Outer God.
---
[Zaina's POV.]
Zaina always had a dream since her childhood.
A contradicting dream that she never understood.
On one hand, she wanted to live a normal life with a normal husband.
Yet...
On the other hand, she wanted to be a hero who saves everyone.
A warrior in shining armor like a healer with hands that never failed.
Someone people could believe in. Someone who didn't let others cry.
But life, she'd come to realize, wasn't as simple as dreams.
'Why is this happening?'
Zaina wondered, groaning as she opened her eyes.
It's been quite some time since she had noticed it.
The speed at which her body was taking in mana had changed considerably.
Her body was far more attuned to mana than ever before.
'...Was it because of the Avatar thing?'
She wondered to herself, not sure if that's the real reason.
Zaina sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. The dorm room around her was quiet.
Her head still felt a little heavy.
Her body... strange.
'At this rate, wouldn't I be a yellow core soon?'
She wondered to herself, not sure if she should be happy or not.
'No, I should be happy.'
She thought, suppressing the negative things away.
With more power she could have better control on her own life.
She could do what she wanted and marry whoever she loved.
'....'
At the thought of marriage, a boy's face came to her mind.
The boy with wheat-blonde hair and crimson eyes smiling at her.
Zaina blinked innocently, trying to remove the image but it didn't work.
She blushed as she stood up from her bed. "Stupid."
Though that made her wonder....
'Is a princess more important or an Avatar?'
Zaina would have been lying to herself if she said she didn't like Akamir.
And....
How could she not like him?
He always gave her the vibes of a loving and responsible father.
The one thing that Zaina never got from her own.
Zaina reached for her comb, trying to distract herself as she fixed her hair.
Her cheeks were still warm.
"Ugh... Why am I even thinking about him like that?" she muttered under her breath.
She wasn't the kind of girl who got easily flustered.
She'd trained herself to be calm and collected but when it came to Akamir... everything became a mess.
Zaina sighed.
'Get a grip. You're not twelve.'
Zaina roughly placed the comb down as she moved towards the window.
The moonlight still shone over the place, gently touching her face.
Zaina stared at the moon with her ember eyes.
Her mind thinking of one thing again and again.
'Can I take him away from the princess?'
It sounded wild to her.
She was a daughter of a baron and Inara was a potential queen of the kingdom.
Zaina wasn't really sure if she felt jealous about it.
How she had the first choice over everything.
'I can either share with her or try to snatch him away.'
And Zaina wasn't really keen on sharing.
Zaina leaned on the windowsill, resting her chin against her hand.
'Snatching him away...'
It sounded harsh even in her own mind. But it wasn't like she could help it.
Every time Akamir talked to her, really looked at her—it made her feel like she mattered.
Like she wasn't just another noble girl trying to prove herself.
He never looked at her like she was weak.
And somehow, that made her want him even more.
"I'm being stupid," she muttered. "I don't even know if he feels anything like that."
She fanned her face that was becoming hotter by her every thought.
Zaina let out a sigh as she thought of something funny.
'I wonder how the church will react if they know my thoughts.'
An Avatar of their sacred goddess thinking about such things.
'Yeah...their blood will definitely boil.'
She chuckled as she turned around.
"Hmm?"
Only to stand there stupefied as she wasn't in her room.
Zaina rubbed her eyes as she looked around the foggy place.
'...What happened?'
She wondered to herself as she looked around in confusion.
"Hello?"
Zaina slowly began to walk forward.
She stepped forward cautiously, her bare feet brushing against a surface that didn't feel like solid ground.
It was soft, like a cloud, but the fog around her was thick and heavy.
She couldn't see beyond a few steps in any direction.
"This has to be a dream..." she mumbled.
But how could this even happen?
Who did it?
Zaina got her answer soon enough.
Only a few steps away from her stood a woman.
She who wore nothing but black on her body with her face covered with a veil.
The woman carried a lantern in one hand that glowed softly.
Zaina immediately recognized her.
'Goddess Morana.'
"How have you been, my child?"
Her voice echoed in Zaina's mind, soft and eternal.
"Why?" Zaina asked, her voice trembling. "Why call me here?"
She smiled. "To tell you what you must do."
In the vast cosmos surrounding the world.
The real powerhouse has begun moving.

Chapter 111: Volume Epilogue [2]
[Forest of Death.]
[Eldergrove.]
The now renovated palace situated in the middle of the forest looked beautiful.
The things that made it look old were all gone, replaced by new decorations.
Small glowing lights illuminated the statues and trees.
Tens of small lamps showing the light over the path leading inside.
Akamir walked down the path as he observed the place.
'It look a lot better now.'
He thought, nodding at how good work Mira had done.
Akamir reached the palace steps, hands tucked in his pockets.
The stone walls had been cleaned and polished, no longer covered in moss or cracked by time.
The trees around the palace swayed gently with the breeze.
At the entrance, Mira stood waiting for him.
She wore a long, dark-blue robe with silver threads along the edges, her hair tied loosely behind her back.
Though her eyes were blindfolded, her face sparkled a little when she saw him.
The judge of apathy bowed deeply as he reached closer.
"My Lord."
Akamir gave her a nod. "How are things going?"
Mira straightened her back as she 'looked' at him.
"Everything is fine, master," she said. "Everything is under control."
Akamir gave a nod as he walked past her. "Good job."
The girl beamed with happiness at the compliment but kept her face straight.
She began to follow behind him as he walked inside the main hall.
"Are mimickers creating any problems?" Akamir asked, glancing back at her.
"No, my Lord." She shook her head. "Rest assured, they will do nothing that upsets you."
Akamir gave her a slight nod as he began to walk down towards the basement.
The place where Nayomi's treasure was placed.
The stone stairs to the basement were cool beneath his feet.
Dimly lit by flickering blue lanterns that hung along the walls.
The deeper he went, the colder the place got.
Finally, he reached the place where the mountains of coins were present.
Two distorted mimickers were guarding the place.
They both bowed deeply as he walked inside the room.
Mira followed behind him inside.
"You haven't used any of these coins, right?" Akamir asked, glancing back at her.
She shook her head. "Like you have instructed, we only used gold bars if needed."
"Hmm."
The coins, even though in a large sum, do not belong to this era.
They have a different stamp on them, and using these would be foolish.
'And I don't really want the fucking reserve bank on my ass.'
Akamir was sure that they would definitely try to investigate if he used these coins.
He let out a sigh as he glanced back at Nayomi.
The blonde woman floated in the air, looking at him.
She pointed at a direction. "It should be there."
Akamir nodded and walked where she pointed.
He walked past a sealed scroll wrapped in chains.
Past a glass case holding what looked like a cracked heart still beating, and reached a small black box near the edge of the platform.
This was the one Nayomi mentioned.
Inside it was the potion.
The supposed cure for the poison that Lucien gave him.
He bent down and opened it slowly.
A small vial sat within.
Purple liquid shimmered inside, glowing faintly as if it had a pulse of its own.
Akamir showed it to Nayomi. "Is this the one?"
"Yes," she replied, nodding her head. "This is the one."
Akamir nodded once as he opened the lid and drank it down.
'It's bitter.'
He thought, feeling the aftertaste on his tongue.
There was no otherworldly reaction or anything like that.
Akamir felt nothing abnormal in his body.
'I guess this worked.'
Akamir thought, rubbing the back of his neck.
With a sigh, he looked back at Mira.
She straightened at his gaze, waiting for his command.
"Call all the remaining Sins," Akamir said. "We are having a meeting."
"Yes, my Lord."
---
Within a few minutes, the great hall of the palace began to fill with presence.
Akamir sat on the throne of swords, his body relaxed as he waited for them.
There were no fancy moments or anything special.
The Sins came and knelt down in front of the throne.
Only Elore, the priest of doubt, wasn't present.
The rest arrived at his call.
Akamir looked down at them as he tried remembering their names.
'The Martyr of Obsession.'
Akamir thought, looking at the woman, the one with no eyes, mouth or nose.
Akamir remembered naming her Elene.
His gaze then shifted to the 'Twin of Hypocrisy.'
Varion and Vear.
His gaze then shifted to 'Cradle of Fear' who was the mass of limbs and sobbing faces.
Mentally, it was a child with the name Araxie.
Finally, there was the 'Monk of Pride.'
Whose name was Riven.
They all bowed down in front of him.
"Stand up."
Akamir said, and they complied immediately.
The Sins rose together, their forms unsettling in the low light of the hall.
Some were humanoid.
Some were not.
Yet all of them obeyed Akamir without question.
Elene, the Martyr of Obsession, stood still as a statue.
Her faceless head tilted slightly, 'looking' at the judge of apathy who stood beside Akamir.
"Master."
Akamir heard Elene's voice in his head.
"Can I stand by your side as well?"
Akamir looked at her in confusion but nodded nonetheless. "Sure."
Her doll-like body skipped a few steps as she quickly took the place on his left.
Needless to say, Mira wasn't keen on her behaviour.
Akamir looked at the Sins once again.
"One question," he said, his voice curious. "Can you guys copy the potential of the human you eat?"
There was a silence in the place before the Monk of Pride stepped forward.
"Yes, my Lord," he said, his voice arrogant yet subdued. "We can mimic everything."
Akamir gave him a nod as he leaned comfortably on his throne.
He rested his elbow on the armrest of the throne, fingers brushing his lips in thought.
'Should I really waste them on beings like humans?' he wondered, looking at them. 'Using them on the heads of other races would be better.'
Still, Akamir planned to use them anyway.
They are free right now.
Akamir rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"I want all the normal mimickers to start selecting targets," he said.
"Not random civilians or nobles. I want people with skills—knights, scholars, alchemists, mages but with a rotten personality."
Vear raised a hand. "Should we replace them?"
"No," Akamir replied. "I want the mimickers to learn their way of fighting. Do not harm any until asked."
Akamir's eyes settled on the twins for a moment longer before shifting back to the rest.
"This world is slow," he continued. "Outdated. Lazy. I don't intend to rely on the systems already in place. I'll create my own."
Riven tilted his head slightly. "And the church?"
"They'll be dealt with," Akamir said. "In time."
Akamir still had no idea how powerful the church really was.
But at the same time, he was aware the biggest problem for the mimickers was the holy Aura.
Something that the believers of church possess.
"Elene."
Akamir said, glancing up at her.
She bowed, speaking in his head. "Yes, master?"
"Select the favourite mimickers you like," Akamir ordered, looking at her. "And create an information network."
She tilted her head in confusion. "Pardon?"
"It's just as I said," Akamir said, looking at her. "I want you to take over the information network of the kingdom."
She paused to think for a moment before she nodded.
"It shall be done, master."
She replied, bowing once again.
"Mira."
"Yes, my Lord?"
"I want the kingdom," Akamir said, looking at her. "In two months."
The judge of apathy's face turned serious.
"I will send the mimickers to infiltrate the army," Mira replied, bowing at him. "And with Elene's help, we can stun the royal family's aid for help."
Akamir gave her a nod as he stood up from his throne.
Akamir stretched his arms, cracking his neck as he stepped down from the throne.
The Sins gave him way as he walked out.
Nayomi, who had been quiet all this time, moved closer.
"Are you planning to rule the humans?" she asked, her voice curious.
"No," Akamir shook his head. "I just don't want Aldirc on the throne."
Nayomi smiled. "Inara it is."
"...."
Akamir walked out of the throne room as he reached the courtyard.
The thousands of Mimickers that stood outside bowed deeply at his presence.
Akamir quietly looked at them.
Even though he never wanted to be a king again.
Even though he just wanted a calm and simple life.
'....This world doesn't want me to be in peace.'
Akamir thought, as he rubbed the back of his neck.
Aldirc did one thing that he should have never done.
He challenged a real King.
And now...
Akamir was coming to take it all from him.

'Just a little more.'
Akamir thought, lazily swinging his reaper in his hand.
His hand brushed his long hair as he stared at his status screen.
It's been two months since the day he assigned the Sins their work.
During this time, Akamir had been training with mana and chi.
The things he has learned in this time have been good.
'A little more push and I will be blue core.'
Akamir thought, rubbing the back of his neck.
Pushing the stats aside, he looked at the two idiots huffing like animals.
"Get up." Akamir said, kicking Viros in his stomach. "How long are you going to rest?"
"Urgh, fuck you." Viros groaned, his sea-green hair bouncing around. "I don't wanna fight."
"Come on, bitch." Akamir said, glancing at Luca who quickly looked away. "It's the first time I am using a reaper."
Luca gave a nervous laugh, adjusting the straps of his gloves as he stood up.
"We noticed," he said, eyeing the long, curved weapon in Akamir's hand. "That thing's scary."
Akamir nodded, spinning the reaper once in his grip.
During the two months, he has also been training with different weapons.
Daggers, short swords, scythe and multiple others.
In just two months, he has gotten a basic knowledge of everything.
'If I ever fight with someone with different weapons, knowing the basics will definitely help.'
He tapped the flat of the reaper against his shoulder, eyes locked on Luca and Viros.
"No!"
They both denied even before he could ask for another round.
"Tch."
Akamir clicked his tongue audibly as he put the reaper back in his space ring.
It was already time for him to meet with Velyrian.
"By the way." Viros said, glancing at him. "Are you ready for the midterm exam?"
Akamir remained still for a moment before he nodded softly. "Yeah."
It's been more than four, almost five months since Akamir came to this.
And...
It was finally time to enter the Core Dungeon.
The place where Zaina's life changed entirely.
He let out a sigh as he began to walk away.
"You guys should be ready." Akamir said, glancing at them. "Things would be pretty hard inside the dungeon."
"Meh, don't worry." Luca said, shaking his head. "We are only going to enter the starting level of the dungeon."
"Wait, how many levels even are there?" Akamir asked, tilting his head.
He shrugged. "I don't know. Humans have only conquered forty of them."
Akamir nodded as he was already numb to their talking as if they weren't humans themselves.
"Alright, enough talking." Akamir said, walking away. "I will see you tomorrow."
"Yeah, bye."
Akamir began to walk towards the teacher's building.
It wasn't long before a woman began floating into his line of sight.
"A Core Dungeon has a hundred levels." Nayomi replied to his previous question. "Unlike normal dungeons, they are far harder to conquer."
"Why do you say so?" Akamir asked, glancing at her.
"They are made that way, with every level twice as hard as the previous one." She replied, her voice soft. "Some even have Core caps."
Akamir frowned. "So, those above that core level can't enter it?"
"Yeah." She replied. "Some have Core caps at level fifty of only purple core, making it impossible to conquer."
"What is the Core Dungeon even about?" Akamir asked, stretching his body.
"Honestly, I don't know." She replied, shaking her head. "But many say they correspond with seven Outer Gods."
"...I see." Akamir nodded silently. "Outer Gods, huh?"
'What are they really?'
Akamir wondered, rubbing his chin.
He wasn't really sure what they are.
Outer beings? Normal beings holding the title of Outer Gods? Or something else entirely?
'Well, no point thinking too much about it.'
He shrugged as he looked around, only to find someone familiar.
A girl walking along with her friends.
"Zaina!"
He called her, making her turn around. Her ember eyes blinked in surprise.
He walked towards her and she told something to her friends.
The way they smiled and how Zaina blushed, it must be something awkward.
Akamir reached as the girl folded her hands.
"Are you still bunking classes?" She asked, looking at him.
"That's what I am best at." Akamir replied, shrugging as he walked by her side. "What about you?"
"I was going to the library." She replied, looking at him.
"I see."
Just like how his relationship has improved with Viros and Luca, the same happened with Zaina.
They both had spent quite some time together, getting to know each other.
Though, his relationship with Inara is what took leaps.
The mermaid princess doesn't hesitate to tell him anything now.
Those conversations definitely make him awkward.
'Though, the hardest part is to keep them away.'
Akamir put quite some effort into making sure Zaina and Inara don't bump into each other when he is with either one of them.
He wasn't really keen on any type of drama.
Zaina tilted her head slightly, eyeing him. "What are you thinking?"
"Hm? Nothing." Akamir replied, smiling at her. "How are things going with you?"
"It's better." She replied, looking at him. "A lot better after that bitch stopped messing with me."
By bitch, she meant Lyselle.
The daughter of the Polmona Dukedom.
After her father entered the dungeon, she has become a lot tamer.
Perhaps it was because she wasn't really sure if her father would return.
And a little talk with former princess Inara was also a reason.
Though, Akamir wasn't going to tell Zaina that.
"Arthur." Zaina said, taking his attention once again. "He has been stalking me."
Akamir blinked twice. "What?"
"Yeah, it's been a few days." She replied, letting out a sigh. "He is behaving like a creep after I started ignoring him."
"Do you want me—"
"No, it's fine." She replied, shaking her head. "I am stronger than him. He won't be able to touch me."
Akamir looked at her for a second before nodding. "Fine... just tell me if things go out of hand."
Zaina smiled. "Why, are you going to act like my fiancé and protect me?"
"Well, if you don't want—"
"I never said that." She quickly cut in his words. "It's like it that way..."
Zaina looked away, her cheeks a little pink. "Shut up."
"But I didn't say anything—"
"Shut up!" She snapped before she quickly ran away from him.
Akamir blinked, staring at her departing figure in confusion.
'Is she stupid?'
He seriously began doubting her level of intelligence.
"Look after her." Nayomi said, floating beside him. "She will be in the most danger inside the dungeon."
Akamir slowly nodded his head. "I know."
The Bloodhound Omen will definitely attack her when she is in the dungeon.
'And no matter how strong she is, I don't think she can survive.'
In the novel, she only survived them by getting pushed further inside the dungeon.
But...
'I am not sure the same thing will happen here.'
Akamir let out a sigh as he reached the teacher's building.
He walked up the spiral staircase and reached Velyrian's office.
"Cough! Cough!"
The violent coughing greeted him as he walked inside.
And...
Velyrian sat in the wheelchair, with all his muscles gone.
'...'

Chapter 113: Condition
Velyrian sat on a wheelchair with all his muscles gone.
'...'
Akamir rubbed his eyes as he walked towards him.
"Hey."
he said, making him turn to look at him.
Velyrian turned his head slowly, his pale face calm as always.
His long blonde hair was tied back, though a few strands hung loose near his cheek.
His face was not like before....
Velyrian had lost a lot of muscle in the span of two months.
It was so drastic that Akamir couldn't even understand.
'What even happened to him?'
Velyrian's eyes met Akamir's, quiet and distant.
"You're late," Velyrian said, voice low but clear.
Akamir shrugged, walking up to him. "Had to deal with Viros and Luca. They still whine like kids."
Velyrian let out a small breath. Not quite a laugh, but close.
Akamir stood beside him, eyes scanning the room.
Scrolls and crystals were stacked neatly on the desk nearby.
And in the centre of it all was the staff they had been working on for the past few months.
"How's your training going?" Velyrian asked.
Akamir folded his arms. "Good. I'm close to breaking through."
Velyrian nodded once. "I figured. Your core is near saturation."
"I'm going to hit blue soon."
"That's fast," Velyrian said, his gaze distant for a second. "Faster than most."
During the last few months, Akamir had told him about his condition.
About how he was evolving his core faster than any human ever.
Though, Velyrian was really shocked at the start he gradually accepted it.
Akamir frowned. "What?"
Velyrian kept on staring at him without blinking. "Are you sure, you are a human?"
He tilted his head. "Do I not look like one?"
"...A lot of races look like each other." He scoffed, his voice grumpy. "And humans don't usually break through so fast."
"Yeah..." Akamir mumbled, unable to refute. "maybe I am not."
There was a silence between them as both didn't speak anything.
"Hey." Akamir finally broke the silence between them. "What actually happened to you?"
Velyrian looked at him for a while before he looked at the staff.
"Things happened." He whispered, his voice barely audible. "I saw things that I wasn't meant to."
"....What do you mean?"
Velyrian didn't respond as he kept on staring at the staff with his vacant eyes.
"I don't know how to complete the staff." He whispered softly. "It still has so many flaws."
Akamir followed Velyrian's gaze to the staff lying at the center of the table.
It was long and thin, wrapped in runes, but unfinished. Parts of it were cracked.
The core chamber was still open, waiting for something to be placed inside.
"You've been working on it for months," Akamir said. "Don't give up now."
"If you had been just a little more knowledgeable." Velyrian whispered, glancing at him. "Maybe you could have completed it."
"It's not about knowledge." Akamir said, shaking his head. "It's just both of us don't know how a soul works."
Velyrian gave a weak nod. "Yeah...those things are beyond us mortals."
Akamir just stared at him as he began to clench on his chest.
"Ven is the reason for your condition isn't it?" Akamir asked, looking at his chest.
"..."
Velyrian didn't look surprised at his words.
"I know you were smart enough to figure it out." He whispered. "You are unique Akamir."
Akamir looked at him seriously. "Is there no way to remove—"
"It's my heart now." Velyrian said, his voice soft. "Removing it is like losing my heart."
"..."
Akamir lowered his gaze on his feet.
There was not much he could say to comfort him.
Akamir himself wasn't sure if he should kill him right now or not.
"How is that company growing?" Velyrian asked, "any problem?"
"Apart from a few Elven spies not much." Akamir replied. "You were right about the empress...she is a good hearted one."
A smile slowly bloomed on his half dead face. "I see."
Akamir watched Velyrian quietly for a moment, then leaned back against the edge of the desk.
"You should've told me earlier," he muttered. "About Ven... about your body."
Velyrian gave a slow blink. "And what would you have done?"
"At least not wait for you to die." Akamir grumbled, rubbing his temples.
That earned him a weak chuckle from Velyrian. The sound was faint, but genuine.
"I didn't want pity," Velyrian said. "And I still don't."
"I don't pity you." Akamir whispered. "I just feel sad it turned this way."
Akamir still thinks it was his fault this happened in the first place.
Had he not messed with his project... maybe Velyrian would have been fine now.
Velyrian looked at him again, then back at the staff. His hand, thin and trembling, brushed the cracked shaft of the weapon.
"I'm scared," he admitted, voice so soft it was almost lost in the room. "Not of dying. But of disappearing... like I was never here."
Akamir looked at him. "You think that's going to happen?"
Velyrian gave a faint nod.
"The more Ven settles, the less I feel like myself. My thoughts are getting slower. My dreams... they aren't mine anymore."
"..."
Akamir didn't know what to say now.
It was hard for him to come up with words for a dying man.
Velyrian sighed as he leaned back on his chair.
"Would you do me a favor?" He asked, his voice suddenly serious.
"....What is it?"
"Never visit the world tree." Velyrian said, staring dead into his eyes. "Never."
Akamir blinked.
"The world tree?" he asked, his voice low. "Why?"
Velyrian's fingers curled slightly over the armrest. His eyes didn't waver.
"I don't want any promises." He said earnestly. "Just don't do anything to the elves."
Akamir looked at his eyes.
There was desperation in them, like a man begging for it.
He let out a sigh. "....fine."
Velyrian relaxed on his chair as he got the answer he needed.
"Can you give me some time alone?" He asked, without looking.
Akamir gave him a faint nod as he walked away. "Take care."
On his way out of the room, he saw Milo standing in the corner.
The girl gave him a faint smile before she walked inside the room.
Akamir let out a sigh as he looked at the upper floor.
'Inara should be inside.'
He began to move up the staircase until he reached the top floor.
Without warning he barged in her office room.
"Can't you at least knock?" Inara said, without looking up from her documents.
"Kyuu~."
The Void fox that was laying on Inara's lap jumped up at him.
Akamir grabbed the fox as he smiled gently. "How have you been, Ella?"
"Kyuu~"
She purred as she claimed the spot on his head.
Akamir didn't say anything as he sat down in front of Inara.
"What are you doing?" He asked, glancing at the paperwork.
"A last time check on tomorrow's event." She replied, without looking. "I need to make sure everything is in order."
"What if someone breaks in?"
"It's impossible."
"What if?"
"I said, it's impossible." She replied confidently, finally looking at him. "If something like this happens, I would do anything you say."
Akamir raised an eyebrow. "Anything?"
Inara blinked, realizing too late how confident she had sounded.
"No," she said quickly, returning to her papers. "Not anything anything. Don't get ideas."
Akamir leaned back in the chair, the Void fox still perched on his head, softly purring.
"Too late, I already have ideas."
Inara didn't reply, but he saw the corner of her lips twitch upward.
"By the way, Inara." Akamir said, leaning back. "I want you to know something."
"Let me guess, you want to have sex while I am a mermaid?"
'That too.'
"Not that." Akamir shook his head. "I want you to know that I will kill your brother."
Her pen stopped as she looked up at him with her crimson eyes.
"....What?"
"Like I said." Akamir repeated his words. "I will kill your brother."
Inara didn't say anything for a while.
"...Why?" She finally asked.
"Lucien killed the crown prince."
She frowned. "How do you—"
"I was there." Akamir cut in her words. "When that happened."
"..."
Inara blinked softly.
Confusion was clear on her face.
"....What?"
Inara lowered her pen slowly, her fingers trembling just slightly.
"You were there?" she repeated, voice low. "You saw it?"
Akamir nodded. "I saw everything. He didn't just kill him... he made sure it looked like my brother did it."
"....Why?"
Akamir didn't have to reply to that.
He just stood up.
"Think it through." He said. "Either keep him or the throne."
He left the girl alone.

Chapter 114: [Core Dungeon] [1]
[Event
'Huff....'
Akamir drew in a deep breath as he looked at the mirror in front of him.
His crimson eyes examined his full-body suit that was provided by the academy.
It clung to his form, tight but not revealing, built more for function than style.
The morning light shone from the window as he wore the coat over it.
He adjusted the collar, tugging the sleeves once before slipping into the dark coat folded on the chair.
Outside, the academy grounds buzzed faintly with energy.
Students were already heading to the teleportation portal, some excited, some nervous.
Akamir picked up the black gloves resting on the desk and pulled them on.
He walked out of the small changing room as he arrived in the hall.
Viros and Luca were already there waiting for him.
Akamir smiled as he looked at Viros. "You guys ready?"
"Yeah." Viros said, turning around. "Let's go."
Akamir walked towards them as he noticed Luca rubbing his hand.
'Why is he so nervous?'
Akamir wondered, glancing at Viros who quickly caught up.
"He has a fear of cramped places." He said, grinning widely. "Buld is such a pussy."
"Oh, I don't want to hear it from the guy who drinks milk of some....weird things." Luca rebuked, a disturbed look on his face.
Viros looked at him like he was really offended.
"What do you mean, weird?" He barked, glaring at him. "Those things are divine!"
"Like how!?" Luca said, his voice laced with disbelief. "Those things don't fucking—."
"Alright, shut up, both of you." Akamir said, pushing them both aside. "We should focus on the thing in front of us."
"Yeah, whatever." Luca grumbled. "I don't care."
Akamir gave Luca a quick glance.
"Now that I see you." He mumbled, taking his attention. "Aren't you a little short and skinny?"
Luca was the shortest of them, barely reaching 5'7", which was oddly enough below average.
Viros grinned. "He got that femboy build."
Luca looked like he might actually explode.
"Say that again, and I swear I'll dropkick you into the portal."
Viros held up both hands, laughing. "Hey, hey, no shame in being delicate. Some people find that cute—like me."
"That's a really disturbing thing to say." Akamir mumbled, shaking his head. "You might like boys."
"Shut up." Viros said, his voice barely audible. "You look like a girl anyway."
Akamir formed a layer of frost under his legs, making him almost trip on his face.
"Fuck!" Viros groaned. "Don't do that."
Nayomi, who floated just above Akamir, glanced down at him.
"He isn't wrong though." She said. "You really looked like a girl before."
Akamir looked up only for his face to graze her breast.
'Why is she floating over my head?'
"What about now?" He asked without showing any reactions. "Do I still look like one?"
"No." Her reply was immediate. "You look more muscular now."
Akamir shook his head as the three of them stepped out onto the large stone platform.
Dozens of other students were already gathered, standing in groups talking to themselves.
Hovering above the center of the platform was the teleportation gate.
It spun slowly, its surface shifting like ripples in water, pulsing with light that hummed faintly through the air.
The portal that will lead them straight to the gate of the core dungeon.
Professors and academy staff stood around its edges, checking names and giving last-minute instructions.
"I hope we are in different teams." Luca muttered. "I really want to beat you both in the exams."
Viros scoffed. "You? Beat us? You still flinch when someone throws a pebble."
"I flinch because I dodge, you idiot," Luca snapped back. "You just eat the hit and hope your bones don't break."
Akamir gave both of them a look.
'I wonder what they race they belong to?'
He did have some ideas with how much he had talked with them.
But Akamir couldn't be sure if they don't tell him with their own mouths.
Professor Danyal stood at the front, arms behind his back, his sharp eyes scanning the students.
He was built like someone who had once lived on the battlefield.
The burn scars on his neck and the metal bracer on his left wrist spoke louder than any of his lectures.
It took only five more minutes for all the students to give their attendance.
When everyone had arrived, Danyal stepped forward.
"Alright, students!" His voice boomed, taking everyone's attention.
"Now, we will be telling your assigned group!"
The staff brought a huge banner and opened it.
The poster had the group number and the names of the students.
Akamir narrowed his eyes as he found his group, which was—group 9.
Akamir Leon Vyavan, Viros Kelthorn, Luca Antirn, Zaina Edevane, Ronin Bran, Lyselle Polama, and Raniga Brown.
Akamir looked at his teammates and then glanced to his side.
Viros was grinning ear to ear while Luca had an awful look on his face.
Akamir rubbed his temples in frustration.
'This is going to be a pain.'
---
"...."
"...."
"...."
When the group assigned to them was all gathered, nobody spoke for a while.
They all looked at each other awkwardly or glared at others with hatred.
"Can you guys make a plan?" It was the plain looking boy Ronin who spoke. "We only have five minutes for it."
Akamir crossed his arms, eyes flicking between each member of the group.
Zaina stood with her usual stiff posture, her eyes narrowed, lips pressed in a line.
Lyselle was chewing gum, blowing a tiny bubble and popping it without breaking eye contact with anyone.
Raniga had her arms crossed, leaning back like she wanted to be anywhere but here.
Ronin still looked like someone had dropped him into a military camp by mistake.
"We don't need a fancy plan," Viros said, casually swinging his axe onto his shoulder. "We just go in, smash whatever's in front of us, and get out."
"Brilliant," Luca muttered sarcastically. "Is that what too much milk does to your mind?"
"Shut up, babydoll." Viros shot back. "Act like a boy before we talk."
Zaina let out a loud sigh. "Enough."
Everyone quieted. Even Viros paused, raising a brow at her.
Zaina glanced at Akamir. "You're the strongest here, aren't you? Lead us."
Akamir blinked at her, then looked away. "No. I don't want to lead."
Akamir had other plans than babysit them.
He still needed to grab the item that will help in the creation of Nayomi's body.
And quite frankly, he wanted to keep others safe by separating them.
"You're joking," Raniga scoffed. "So we're just going to wander around and hope we don't die?"
"You need a plan?" Akamir said, looking at her. "We'll work together. I'll handle the front. Viros, you're next to me. Luca and Zaina—midline. Ronin, Raniga, Lyselle—support and rear. Happy?"
"That's more like it," Ronin said, nodding slightly.
"Wait, why do I get midline?" Zaina asked. "I can take front."
"Sure," Akamir said, "but can you keep Viros from charging ahead?"
Zaina looked at Viros, then sighed. "...Midline is fine."
Raniga yawned loudly, making everyone look at her. "This is the most annoying thing to do."
'Who is she again?'
Akamir wondered, tilting his head in confusion.
He wasn't sure, but Lyselle wasn't lashing out at her so she must be important.
Professor Danyal's voice boomed from behind. "Group 9! Step onto the portal!"
"Our turn." Viros said excitedly as he led the group. "Let's go baby!"
Akamir sighed as he followed him and so did the rest.
Zaina walked towards him slowly, leaning to his ear. "Hey, Akamir."
"Hmm?"
"Are you free after the dungeon?" She asked, her voice soft.
"Yeah," Akamir tilted his head in confusion. "Why?"
"Let's go on a date." She said, smiling brightly. "You and me."
Akamir blinked, finding it a little odd that she proposed the idea herself.
'Did something happen?'
He wondered if she met with Inara or something.
'Inara.....'
Thinking about her, Akamir's mood shifted.
She hasn't talked to him since yesterday after he told her about Lucien.
Now, he wasn't really sure if she would actually accept her brother's death.
'It would be a pity if that happens.'
Akamir thought, feeling an odd sense of sadness.
'I really like that girl.'
Even though she was ten years older, but mentally.....
'Wait, I am younger than her even mentally.'
Akamir really didn't like that.
Professor Danyal gave Akamir a device.
"Cut the left ear of whatever beast you kill and store it in this." He said, his voice dismissive. "There are teachers on every floor in case you need help."
Akamir nodded as he looked at the portal.
Taking in a deep breath, he walked inside it.

Chapter 115: [Core Dungeon] [2]
[Event
The moment Akamir stepped into the portal, a strange coldness brushed against his skin.
The light around him twisted, pulling his body forward like he was being sucked through water.
He clenched his jaw, staying still as the energy surged.
Finally, something flashed around his eyes.
The light vanished.
His feet landed on solid ground the next second.
"Ugh..." Viros groaned next to him, stumbling slightly. "That felt like being shoved into a freezer."
Akamir looked around.
The dungeon was dimly lit, the ceiling high with sharp, jagged stones poking down like claws.
Faint glowing moss clung to the walls, casting a sickly green light that barely illuminated the area.
The ground was uneven, damp, and littered with cracked bones that looked old and dried.
It smelled like mold and dried blood, like a battlefield.
"Where the hell are we?" Luca whispered, adjusting his gloves as he looked around.
Zaina stepped forward beside Akamir, hand resting on the hilt of her glowing staff. "Looks like the first level."
"Of course it's creepy," Raniga muttered behind them, her voice bored. "Wouldn't be a dungeon otherwise."
"Alright," Akamir said quietly, "stay in formation."
They moved forward cautiously.
Every step echoed slightly. It was quiet...too quiet.
"Where are the rest of the students?" Viros asked, looking around in confusion. "Are we the only ones here or what?"
"The first floor is too big," Zaina mumbled softly. "They might be somewhere far from us."
Akamir nodded as he noticed no monsters in the place.
Viros leaned over to whisper to Luca, "So, still scared?"
"I'm not scared," Luca snapped back. "Just alert. Unlike you, I actually care about not dying."
Lyselle let out a small yawn behind them. "Are we gonna fight anything or just keep walking?"
"Don't jinx it," Akamir said, glancing at her.
As they moved deeper, they entered a wider chamber.
Finally, a soft clicking noise echoed.
Akamir's face tensed up. "Stop."
The group froze.
The clicking grew louder and louder as seconds went by.
Then finally, they saw dozens of red eyes appear in the shadows of the chamber.
"...Spiders," Zaina muttered. "Of course."
Long-legged creatures crawled out of the dark corners.
Each one was the size of a wolf, with sharp fangs dripping venom and barbed legs clattering on stone.
"There's too many," Luca said, backing up. "We can't fight them all at once."
Akamir drew in a deep breath as he took out his sword.
'Alright, let's kill them in one strike.'
But before he could move, a hand on his shoulder stopped him.
He looked back, finding Zaina.
"May I?" she asked.
Akamir blinked innocently but nodded nonetheless. "Sure."
She beamed in excitement as she quickly stepped in front of the group.
Taking in a deep breath, she raised her staff and waved it, muttering. "Lance spear."
The air twisted around her and five different loops began to form.
They soon drilled faster, turning into spinning spears.
Zaina threw them at the approaching spiders.
The spinning spears shot forward like bolts of lightning.
They pierced through the air with a loud whirr, slamming into the spider swarm before they could even react.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three spiders were impaled instantly and two spears struck the ground.
They exploded into a burst of magical wind that sent nearby creatures flying back, their bodies twisting midair before crashing into the walls.
In just one shot she took out all of them.
Akamir blinked, slightly impressed. "Nice shot."
Zaina lowered her staff, her breathing steady. "You like it?"
Akamir smiled. "Yes."
He walked towards her and patted her head gently.
The girl squirmed but didn't say anything else.
Akamir then began walking towards the corpses and Viros walked beside him.
"Wait, how are we going to take their ears?" he said, his voice filled with confusion. "They don't have any."
Akamir sighed. "Then we take their heads," he mumbled, "help me."
He nodded and began cutting off their heads.
Viros made a face as he held one of the spider heads by its fangs. "This is so disgusting."
"Just don't think about it," Akamir muttered, tossing another one into the sack they brought.
Zaina walked over, wiping the dust off her robes. "Should we take the venom sacs too? They're worth something."
"Good idea," Luca said, crouching next to a corpse. He pulled out a small knife. "Careful though. If it bursts, the poison might eat through your gloves."
Viros immediately stepped back. "Yeah, nope. I'm not touching that."
Raniga hovered nearby, arms crossed. "Why are we even doing the dirty work? Can't we just leave them?"
"Wait, what even happens if we leave them?" Viros asked, curiously.
"They dissolve back in the dungeon," Zaina replied, looking at Akamir. "The Dungeon then recycles them."
Akamir glanced at her. "You did your research, didn't you?"
She blushed and looked away. "....Yeah."
Viros on the other hand grinned at her behavior.
He didn't comment though as he looked forward. "Shall we move again?"
He placed the last head into the device, wiping his blade clean on a torn piece of cloth. "Yeah. Let's go."
The group moved forward again, deeper into the dungeon.
The air was colder here, and the walls seemed to tighten, closing in around them.
The soft glow of the moss flickered now and then, like a dying lantern.
"By the way," Viros mumbled, glancing back at Lyselle. "Is there no news of the Polmona Duke?"
Lyselle glanced at him but refused to make any comments.
"He should be safe," Luca replied instead. "He did take an army with him."
"What if there was something that he couldn't beat down there?" Viros pressed further, his voice glum.
"It's been fifteen years since the last floor was conquered."
Akamir didn't stop walking as he responded. "If something did happen to him, we'll find out eventually—"
"Nothing will happen to my father," Lyselle snapped, glaring at him. "My father isn't some weak person like you."
"Sure," Akamir mumbled, without looking at her. "He is super amazing for forcing others to help him."
Lyselle clenched her fists but didn't say anything else.
She turned her face away, walking a few steps ahead with quick, stiff movements.
'She really is trying her best not to grab too much attention.'
Akamir understood her way of thinking.
If something really happened to her father, then there is a high chance that she would lose everything.
'She has an uncle, right?'
Akamir was sure her uncle would either marry her or marry her off to some wealthy old man for benefits.
'Her brother will most probably be assassinated.'
"Nice going," Viros whispered to Akamir with a smirk. "You always know how to make friends."
"I didn't say anything wrong," Akamir replied calmly. "I just don't like people who act high and mighty because of their last name."
"Oh, that's some thinking," he mumbled softly. "You would fit well with the werewolves."
Akamir gave him a look. "What do you mean?"
"Oh, they also have that lone wolf type attitude," he replied with a chuckle. "Bunch of wannabe alphas."
Akamir noticed the little hatred in his voice.
"Seems like you hate them."
"Not really," he shrugged. "Can't do anything about them."
Akamir shook his head as they reached a different place.
It was an enormous cave that led to a different floor.
Akamir drew in a deep breath.
"Let's go."

[On the other side of the first floor.]
The air around the place hummed as a teleportation portal opened up in the place.
Slowly, eight figures emerged from it covered in entirely crimson colour.
The eight figures stepped out of the portal, one by one.
Their cloaks shimmered faintly in the dungeon's dim light, dyed in crimson from head to toe.
Hoods covered their faces, but the air around them felt heavy, like something dangerous had just been released.
They didn't speak.
The tallest among them stepped forward, boots crunching softly over the bones and dirt.
He raised his hand.
The others stopped immediately.
A small, pale girl standing beside him tilted her head, listening.
"She is on the second floor," she whispered softly. "I can feel Morana's blessings."
The tall man and their leader nodded his head.
"We give her a quick death," he said. "It wasn't the poor girl's fault to be born with the curse."
The others nodded as they began to walk.
....The Bloodhound Omen had officially begun their hunt.

Chapter 116: [Core Dungeon] [3]
[Event
'This seems really odd.'
Akamir looked up at the place that was completely different from the last level.
Their group had already completed the second and third floor and now they were on the fourth floor.
It was an enormous jungle with the sounds of the animals and beasts filling the place.
"Damn, look at the view." Viros mumbled, standing just beside him. "It's like an entire different environment."
Akamir nodded in response as the previous floor was like a rocky mountain.
The air on the fourth floor was humid and thick with the scent of damp leaves and blooming flowers.
A sharp contrast to the dry, jagged mountains they had climbed just an hour ago.
Bird-like creatures screeched in the distance, and somewhere nearby, something heavy rustled through the underbrush.
"It's like we've been dropped into a different world," Zaina whispered, her eyes scanning the dense forest above.
Her staff glowed faintly, reacting to the mana in the air. "The amount of natural magic here... it's high."
"Natural or not, something about this place feels off," Luca muttered, crouching near a puddle and dipping his gloved fingers in it. "This place is bad."
Raniga stood near a thick tree with twisting roots, her arms folded.
"There's no sign of paths. If we're not careful, we'll get lost here."
'So this girl does know how to be helpful.'
Akamir thought, nodding at her words.
He took a step forward. "Let's stay close and move in a line, we'll mark our trail."
Viros groaned. "How?"
"We'll use chalk," Luca replied flatly, already pulling a piece from his pouch.
They began their slow trek through the forest.
There was no sunlight in the place, but the bioluminescent flowers glowing between the roots and ceiling provided just enough light to keep them moving.
Suddenly, Lyselle paused in her path.
"Wait."
Everyone stopped, glancing at her in confusion.
She pointed forward.
Something was hanging from a tree branch ahead.
It was a creature or what was left of one.
Its body was shredded, hanging like wet cloth.
Chunks of fur and skin dripped with old blood.
One of its eyes dangled loosely from the socket.
"Is that..." Luca stepped forward, voice low. "A bear-type beast?"
"...Yes," Zaina said slowly. "It's a berserker class. That thing's supposed to be one of the stronger monsters on this floor."
Viros turned towards her. "And something did that to it?"
Akamir narrowed his eyes. 'I don't like variables like these.'
Luca knelt down, his hand hovering over the grass. "There's nothing... no steps, no broken plants. It's like whatever did this never even touched the ground."
Ronin clicked her tongue. "Something's hunting the hunters."
Akamir looked around, then back at the body.
His instincts buzzed but he wasn't sure what it was.
'We will see when the time comes.'
"Keep moving," he said firmly. "And stay sharp."
As they continued forward, the jungle grew denser.
The air felt heavier now, pressing on them.
Viros tried to keep the mood light. "Okay, but seriously, how many floors are left again?"
"Six," Zaina answered. "Ten in total."
"Great," he muttered. "So we're not even halfway through."
"What if we go more than ten?" Akamir asked curiously. "What will happen?"
"We will get extra points." Zaina replied before frowning. "Wait, you didn't join the class when they were briefing about it, right?"
Viros chuckled. "Is there any theory class that he joins?"
Luca chimed in as well.
"If my fiancée was vice headmistress I would laze around too." He grumbled. "Except I am not lucky enough."
"I can relate." Viros patted the boy's shoulder with regret. "Us ugly shits can only dream for a princess bride."
"Don't lump me together with you." Luca slapped his hand away. "I am not ugly."
"You have a default girl's body." Viros rebuked, grinning. "The only thing that you are seducing is thirsty men."
Luca glared furiously. "What did you say?"
"Can you guys shut up."
Zaina said, her voice echoing within the forest.
"The princess is nothing special anyway."
An awkward silence followed Zaina's words.
Viros raised a brow. "Oof. Someone's got opinions."
Luca snorted. "And a very controversial one."
Akamir didn't say anything, he wasn't in the mood to defend his fiancée from his other fiancée.
'.....'
Akamir let out a sigh. 'I have painful days ahead of me.'
He just kept walking, brushing a leafy vine out of his path.
Zaina's voice had been loud and it definitely would attract beasts.
Raniga gave her a side glance. "Jealous?"
"No!" Zaina said quickly, a little too quickly. "I just think being a princess doesn't mean anything when you're in a dungeon crawling with monsters."
"Fair," Viros muttered. "Still, you sound like you've got something personal against her."
"I don't." She picked up her pace, walking a few steps ahead. "Forget it."
Zaina arrived beside Akamir, giving him glances.
Akamir frowned. "Just say it."
Zaina opened her mouth but shut it down immediately. "...It's nothing."
He gave her a look but didn't press, knowing it would only make things worse.
They moved deeper into the jungle, the foliage growing thicker, the trees taller.
The air was getting even warmer now, and sweat clung to their skin.
Akamir stayed alert, his eyes scanning the tree branches above.
He couldn't shake off the uneasiness that had been crawling over him since they saw the dead beast.
"Hey," Raniga said softly, stopping beside a strange tree with wide, bowl-shaped leaves. "Is that... water?"
The leaf was filled to the brim with a clear, glowing liquid.
Zaina stepped closer, peering into it. "Looks like condensed mana... this is rare."
"Can we drink it?" Viros asked, already reaching for it.
"No," Zaina and Luca both said at once.
Viros pulled back, pouting. "Why?"
"Mana pools like this are usually for magical creatures," Zaina explained. "If we drink it, we might get sick. Or hallucinate. Or die."
"Hallucinations?" Viros' eyes lit up. "Maybe I should try—."
"Are you completely ignoring the part about dying?" Luca asked, glaring at him. "Stop playing around, boar head."
Viros glared at his cousin before he walked away. "Whatever."
They kept walking.
Eventually, the trees opened into a wide clearing.
But before they could even move further, Akamir stopped in his place.
His eyes were staring at a crimson raven sitting on a far away tree branch.
Nayomi floated closer to him, her hands folded under her chest.
"It's a bond animal." She informed him. "A signature animal of Bloodhound Omen used for surveying."
"...."
Akamir quietly looked at the raven without any words.
The group looked at him confusedly.
Zaina asked. "What happened?"
Akamir glanced at the girl before he shook his head. "Nothing."
They moved past the clearing, but the air around Akamir still felt off.
Akamir was aware that the Bloodhound Omen would attack them.
But....
'I don't like how they are completely in the dark and can attack us anytime.'
Akamir also didn't want to kill the raven so as to not alert them.
"Huff...."
He drew in a deep breath as the sounds of animals echoed in the forest.
Slowly, from the clearing, multiple bear-like animals began to walk out.
The group tensed up as they quickly got into position.
Akamir raised his hand to stop them.
"I will take care of them."
Lyselle's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Are you mad!?" she barked. "Those things can easily rip you—."
Her words died down when he simply glanced at her.
Just that look made her knees wobble in fear.
Akamir focused back on the beasts as he took out his black sword.
"Stand back."
He said to everyone.
"It won't take long."

Chapter 117: [Core Dungeon] [4]

"Stand back."
He said to everyone.
"It won't take long."
The group stepped back, hesitant at first, but none of them questioned him again.
The eight beasts growled low, their deep breaths rumbling through the place.
Their eyes glowed faintly red, muscles bulging as they slowly fanned out.
'I shouldn't show too much of my abilities with Bloodhounds watching me.'
Akamir slowly dragged his left leg back as he adjusted his stance.
He shot forward before the first one even blinked, his sword gleaming with a faint silver edge as he slashed upward across its chest.
"ARGHHHH!!!!!"
The beast let out a guttural roar, collapsing almost instantly as its thick hide split open.
The second came from the side, faster, swiping at him with massive claws.
Akamir ducked low and slid across the mossy ground, letting the claws pass above him.
He jabbed the blade straight into its stomach and then twisted it.
The beast convulsed before falling backward.
From behind, two more rushed at once.
Akamir leapt high, kicking off a tree trunk and flipping over them.
He landed on one's back, driving his blade into the spine, and pushed off it again before the other could react.
Midair, he extended his free hand.
A short pulse of lightning bolt burst from his palm, striking the last of the pair in the chest and sending it crashing into the ground with a groan.
He landed on his feet before looking back over his shoulder.
Three more approached now, much more cautiously this time.
Akamir narrowed his eyes.
"Are they smart or it's just their instinct?" he murmured.
He picked up a loose vine hanging from a branch, swung once, and launched himself toward the nearest beast.
He slammed into it feet-first, knocking it to the ground.
With one swift motion, he plunged his sword into its skull.
The sixth beast tried to attack from the side.
Akamir dropped into a low stance, rolled, and then struck its leg.
The beast howled as its limb gave out.
Akamir didn't give it the chance to recover as he drove the blade through its neck before stepping over its twitching body.
The last two paused near the edge of the clearing, foam bubbling at their mouths.
One roared and lunged.
Akamir calmly raised his left hand.
A magic circle on his finger flickered before a whip of black flame surged out.
The flame wrapped around the beast's throat mid-jump, and he yanked hard.
The creature slammed into a tree with a sickening crack.
The final one hesitated, moving back, its heavy chest heaving, eyes unsure.
Akamir didn't give it time to decide.
He dashed forward, closed the distance in seconds, and with one clean strike, slit its throat.
The beast collapsed, twitching for a moment, then went still.
Silence fell.
Only the hum of insects and distant screeches filled the air again.
Akamir stood among the fallen bodies, not a scratch on him.
His breathing had quickened slightly, but otherwise, he seemed calm.
The rest of the group stared from behind the tree line, stunned.
"...Did he just..." Viros's voice trailed off.
"Take down eight berserk-class beasts alone," Luca finished for him, eyes still wide.
"I... I was about to cast a support spell," Zaina muttered.
Akamir walked back toward them, sheathing his sword.
He looked at Zaina. "Don't speak so loud next time."
She stiffened but didn't argue.
The smell of blood was heavy now.
The jungle had gone quiet again.
Lyselle opened her mouth to say something but decided against it.
Viros chuckled under his breath. "I knew you were strong with all the beating I took, but really?"
Akamir blinked innocently. "What do you mean?"
"Why are you so strong?" Luca grumbled softly. "It's like you aren't even human."
Akamir tilted his head in confusion.
"You showed them too much," Nayomi informed him with a chuckle. "Even though you showed them almost nothing."
'Tch.'
Akamir didn't like that one bit.
It wasn't his fault.
He doesn't know how much was actually acceptable and what was beyond human limits.
Akamir stopped at the front of the group. "Let's go."
No one argued.
They followed, their pace quicker now, more alert.
Even though the fight hadn't lasted long, the tone had shifted.
The group moved in silence for a while, their steps lighter, more cautious.
Viros occasionally glanced at Akamir's back, but said nothing this time.
Even Luca kept his mouth shut, which was rare.
They crossed a narrow path where the roots of trees curled out from the ground like claws.
Akamir hopped over one easily, barely slowing down.
The rest had to step carefully, making sure not to trip.
"...So," Zaina finally said, her voice low, "the speed at which you made the magic circle wasn't normal... or was it just me..."
"Does it matter?" Raniga cut in before Akamir could reply. "He got the job done. That's what we need."
They passed under a cluster of low branches when a strange sound came from above.
The group instantly froze, looking up.
A creature with wings,half-bat, half-wolf—watched them from a high branch.
Its eyes glinted with interest, but it didn't move.
After a moment, it spread its wings and flew off.
"...Okay," Ronin exhaled. "So everything here is just designed to stress us out."
"Wait, that thing shouldn't be here, you know," Luca said, narrowing his eyes.
"Those are wormbats, and I am pretty sure they are found on the tenth floor."
"Don't be silly, ladyboy," Viros said, his voice nonchalant. "A higher-level beast can't enter a lower level, that's basic knowledge."
"Alright," Akamir said, looking at them. "Let's keep on moving."
Akamir rubbed the back of his neck as he noticed the raven still following them.
'Just attack us already.'
He thought, feeling the stress boiling under his skin.
'I don't want to wait under their eyes.'
He let out a sigh as he looked around the place.
"Do you guys know the story of that one otherworlder?" Viros said, taking everyone's attention.
Akamir tilted his head. "Who?"
"His name was Makisuna," Viros said, trying to make himself look serious. "Apparently, he tried to make a cult."
Akamir glanced at Nayomi with a weird look on his face.
'What was wrong with these otherworlders?'
Akamir had heard a lot about them, and none of them seemed to be right in mind.
'All of them were crack heads.'
Akamir glanced at Viros. "What type of cult?"
Viros grinned like he had been waiting for someone to ask.
"Oh, it was wild," he began, throwing his hands up. "Makisuna claimed he heard the voice of the dungeon itself. Said it was whispering truths to him. He called it the 'Core's Will.'"
"That sounds stupid," Luca muttered.
"It was stupid," Viros agreed, laughing.
"But he convinced like, twenty people to follow him. They wore wooden flower masks, painted their faces with monster blood, and kept chanting weird stuff like 'return to the heart, return to the source.'"
Zaina wrinkled her nose. "What happened to them?"
"They reached the eightieth floor," Viros said. "Then disappeared after that. Some say they tried to 'merge' with the dungeon."
"What does that even mean?" Ronin asked.
"No one knows," Viros shrugged. "But his bloodline became cursed to grow horns all over their body."
"....That's brutal," Akamir mumbled.
"Yeah," Viros replied, shaking his head. "They grow horns even there."
"..."
An awkward silence lingered between them as everyone glared at him.
Viros frowned. "What?"
"Makes me wonder," Luca mumbled, changing the topic. "Is the dungeon alive?"
"Well, we can't be sure," Zaina said, her voice low. "We have things like Goddesses with us, then why not this?"
"..."
Akamir glanced at her without any words.
Maybe it was nothing, but he felt a belief in her voice.
Akamir looked forward once again, only for him to stop.
They had reached the stairs for the next floor.
"Alright guys," Akamir said, glancing back at them. "We are going to face the first core beast."
The entire group tensed up immediately.
Every fifth floor of the dungeon has them.
The beast with a core.
Those things always change, so it's never clear which type of core beast they are going to face.
Akamir drew in another deep breath as he walked forward. "Let's get this over with."
The group followed behind him.
In the far end, on a tree branch,
The crimson raven stared at the group before flying away.
