Chapter 218: Leaving
Suddenly, a sharp voice broke everyone's attention.
"What is going on here?"
Aurelia was confused by what she saw. If it had been someone else, she wouldn't have wasted her time asking questions after seeing Loriel sitting on the ground with a disheveled appearance and bloodstains all over her clothes—especially with the mark of dried tears on her pretty face.
That alone would've been enough for her to start beating up everyone around her first and ask questions later. However, this situation wasn't so simple. There was Leon, the terrifying boy, standing close to Loriel, one even stronger than her.
She wanted to build a good relationship with him, but if she found out someone had bullied her little Loriel, she would leave today, swallowing her pride because of his strength... but she would never forget it.
Forget about building a relationship with him.
The way he stood so close to her, and the way Loriel was also looking at him with a visibly mad expression, made Aurelia uneasy.
They needed someone powerful like him in the human civilization to stabilize the turmoil in their Domain, and she had planned to be as diplomatic as possible—much was at stake.
But there were limits to what she could tolerate.
No one answered the question she had asked aloud. Loriel outright ignored her and looked the other way with a huff.
That alone made Aurelia sigh in relief. It was enough for her to know that it wasn't anything serious—otherwise, Loriel would have definitely asked for help.
Though there were signs of injury on her body, it seemed she was more upset than hurt. That surprised Aurelia, knowing how the crybaby usually complained about even the most minor pain. And yet now, she said nothing.
Now I'm even more curious... what made little Loriel stop complaining about the pain like usual, and instead be upset over something else?
Aurelia found this refreshing. She had tried many times to help the little Saintess overcome her weakness toward pain. She was too soft. If she genuinely wanted to be a Saintess—and more than that, survive in this world—she had to be tougher.
There were people around this soft-hearted girl to take care of her for now, but without that, Aurelia couldn't imagine her surviving this long.
Even her potential was being wasted because of that softness. She remembered the time she'd been tasked with training the girl—sent by her friend, the former Saintess of Life, who had admitted she couldn't do it herself.
At first, Aurelia hadn't understood why. But on the very first day of training, she understood everything.
Loriel's wails had echoed off the training ground walls, high and piercing, drowning out even the clash of blades.
Still, she ignored the crying and complaints, thinking it would improve with time—but how wrong she was.
Aurelia's brow twitched as Loriel huffed at her. Still the same crybaby. The memory of those training days came back sharp—Loriel sobbing more than swinging her sword, her tiny hands clutching wounds while Aurelia forced potions down her throat. She had lasted a week before realizing she was spending more time silencing tears than teaching.
To her, the best and fastest way to improve was simply through fighting. That's how she herself had grown stronger. So that's what she did with Loriel at first—throwing her into hoards of monsters.
She remembered the smell of iron-rich blood and the way Loriel's small hands trembled as they clutched at a torn sleeve, eyes wide with terror.
Getting hurt was part of the process. It wasn't as if she left her untreated—she always used potions to heal her afterward.
Not to mention, the girl herself had an affinity for the life element.
Even then, Loriel gagged every time the bitter liquid burned down her throat, tears streaking her dirt-smeared cheeks.
But Aurelia had to stop using her best training method for a straightforward reason—it was ineffective. Watching Loriel cry every day made her feel guilty, and more importantly, the training didn't even yield results. The girl just sulked and cried over and over again.
In the end, she developed a soft spot for the crybaby, even knowing she shouldn't. If she really wanted Loriel to improve, she needed to push harder—but she just couldn't. Aurelia couldn't bring herself to do it.
At least there was one thing good about her soft-hearted disciple—when in a life-threatening situation, she pulled through despite the pain. Otherwise, Aurelia would have never gone easy on her training.
Sometimes, even she couldn't believe how lenient she'd become with Loriel. It didn't suit her. Yet she had fallen for innocence.
Even now, she could picture those hazel eyes brimming with tears, wide and pleading in a way that made even her hardened heart falter.
She often wondered if someone had cast a spell on her. But deep down, she knew—it was just her own way of coping with disbelief at her own softness.
——
Loriel continued ignoring her, making Aurelia's brow twitch. Leon, the attractive boy, simply shrugged his shoulders. His woman said nothing either.
The husband of the woman who had just fought alongside them stood frozen, mouth agape, lost in his own world.
Only the girl named Liora met her eyes. She seemed like the only normal one among them, and Aurelia felt she could ask her what had happened.
She could've asked the boy, Leon, or his woman, Seraphine. But she chose not to. The situation didn't seem too serious, but she didn't want to create awkwardness between them.
Even Aurelia felt a bit strange. It wasn't like her to act this cautiously in front of anyone. Usually, she would assert dominance wherever she went—she was the Saintess of Light and was used to giving orders.
But now her voice was calm and collected, carrying not even a hint of dominance, as she looked directly into Liora's eyes and asked,
"Liora, do you know how Loriel got hurt?"
More than being a potential successor, Liora was also the daughter of a woman as strong as Aurelia herself. She couldn't afford to be careless.
Aurelia felt oddly humbled right now. That this was all happening in the lower Domain was hard to believe—yet it was her reality.
Liora heard the strong, shiny blonde-haired woman speak. She would have answered the first time Aurelia asked, but she had felt uncomfortable being the one to talk in front of such influential figures so close to her.
But now that the senior had specifically asked her, she responded instantly without hesitation and explained everything from start to finish.
"The thing is, senior, before Leon was about to attack the..."
Liora explained every single detail without omitting anything.
Aurelia listened closely. The more she heard, the sharper her gaze became as she looked down at Loriel, who still sat on the ground.
This girl... she can't go anywhere without creating problems...
Aurelia felt relieved that Loriel hadn't gotten seriously hurt. But more than that, she was annoyed. Even now, Loriel was giving attitude to everyone, despite being the reason for the situation in the first place.
There were also some things she needed to talk to her about in private—especially regarding her behavior.
She could easily tell Loriel was acting differently toward Leon. The fact that she was still upset even after being healed by him—when usually she would be full of thanks—made it clear she cared too much about the boy and was upset he'd ignored her earlier.
Aurelia felt embarrassed by her disciple's behavior. Loriel was dragging their reputation down before she even had a chance to speak correctly with Leon—but she didn't show it on her face.
Loriel, meanwhile, felt a chill run down the back of her neck for some reason.
Without warning, Aurelia moved with swift precision. Her hand shot out and grabbed Loriel by the back of her collar, lifting the green-haired girl clean off the ground like she was picking up a misbehaving kitten.
"Eep!" Loriel squeaked in surprise, her arms and legs dangling helplessly as she was hoisted into the air. Her carefully maintained pout instantly crumbled into shock and embarrassment.
What is she doing?! This is so humiliating!
Aurelia's grip was firm but not painful as she held Loriel at arm's length, studying her with those sharp golden eyes. The Saintess of Light's expression remained perfectly composed, though there was a hint of exasperation in her gaze.
"We're leaving," Aurelia announced calmly to the group, still holding the squirming Loriel by her collar. "It seems my disciple needs a proper discussion about appropriate behavior."
Loriel's face turned an even deeper shade of red as she realized everyone was watching her dangle like a scolded child. She tried to maintain some dignity, but it was difficult when her feet weren't even touching the ground.
"S-Senior Aurelia! Put me down! This is embarrassing!" she protested weakly, though her voice lacked any absolute authority.
Why does this always happen to me?
Leon watched the scene with barely contained amusement, while Seraphine covered her mouth to hide a smile. Even Liora looked like she was trying not to giggle at the sight.
But before she could leave, Aurelia reached into her robes with her free hand and pulled out a small piece of paper. She held it out toward Leon, her expression becoming more serious.
"We should meet to discuss certain matters," she said simply, her voice taking on a more formal tone.
Leon stepped forward and took the paper slip from her outstretched hand. Looking down at it, he could see elegant handwriting that listed specific coordinates and a time - tomorrow evening at sunset.
"Meet me at this location at the specified time," Aurelia continued, still holding the squirming Loriel by her collar.
Her golden eyes met his directly, though she offered no explanation for what the meeting would entail. It was clear she had her reasons for wanting privacy, but she wasn't going to elaborate now.
This whole situation with Loriel has been... less than ideal, Aurelia thought as she watched Leon pocket the paper. It would be better to have a proper conversation when we can start fresh, without all this drama clouding things.
The way her disciple had acted - the crying, the pouting, the obvious infatuation - it wasn't exactly the kind of first impression she'd wanted to make on someone so powerful. A clean slate tomorrow would serve them both better.
"I'll be there," Leon replied simply, understanding that whatever she wanted to discuss required a more appropriate setting.
Aurelia nodded once, satisfied with his response. "Good."
With that, she turned and began walking away, still carrying the dangling Loriel, leaving Leon to wonder precisely what kind of conversation awaited him the next day.

Chapter 326: Jinx
BANG
As his fist collided with the thick tree, it simply exploded from the force and flew away, breaking a few more trees along.
"Hmm, it is nowhere near my full strength but well, beggars can't be choosers." Vritra thought.
He decided not to waste time figuring out how he got that ability.
Taking out a packet of white powder from the book, Vritra chose a direction and shot forward at his current full speed, leaving behind marks over the trees and stones.
His speed was similar to what it was around level 300.
As Vritra headed deeper into the forest, the atmosphere around him started to turn eerier by the moment.
The air was filled with a bloody stench and looked slightly reddish.
The trees had veins on their surfaces that were filled with red blood and seemed to pulse.
Faint distant cries that didn't sound like any animal continued to ring out. The ground was covered with knee-length black grass.
'I wonder if all my sin abilities could work against those abominations and other creatures here. I sure hope they do.' Vritra thought.
Even while running at full speed, he was observing his surroundings for any sign of danger.
After running for a couple of kilometres, Vritra found himself surrounded by thicker bloody mist. He could only see a few meters ahead of him.
But thankfully, he could depend on the perfect map of the place that pinpointed even the small rocks. Wherever he was present on the map was especially highlighted.
First, he planned to check the contact point that Chopper had told him about, which was supposed to be nearly four kilometres deep.
The strange cries of the creatures in the distance seemed like dozens of drilling machines boring into his brain at the same time.
It was so annoying.
Running at full speed, it wasn't long before Vritra finally arrived at the location of the contact point. He finally paused and started to look around carefully.
Soon, he located a small dot on the map.
Vritra was wearing leather boots that could protect him against the bites of snakes and other small creatures.
HISSSSSS
Vritra heard the faint sound of a snake. He stopped and looked around, and soon found the 2-meter-long snake with a black and red pattern on its body.
It appeared quite venomous, though Vritra wasn't really sure. He walked closer to the snake but maintained some distance from it.
[Book of Dimensions Activated.]
In an instant, Vritra teleported the snake into his book. It was more of an experiment. He left the snake there to see if it could somehow find a way out.
Once again, he resumed walking towards the dot on the map, and when he arrived at the destination, he was quite shocked.
"..." Vritra stared at the thick pole that seemed to be going high into the sky and disappearing. He couldn't see its top point.
Then walking close to it, he saw the old-style phone with the circular dial pad. For some reason, Chopper or others couldn't remember what they had found upon arriving here.
They just remembered that Chopper was able to contact the outside world.
Vritra picked up the telephone receiver and tried dialling several random numbers, but it showed no signs of working.
"How can I make it work?" he thought. Even his intelligent waifu wasn't here to give him any advice since she had wasted so much of her energy watching him in action.
Sigh...
Placing it back, Vritra decided to check it later. He had just heard sounds of several growls that seemed to belong to some animal.
Taking out two big knives that normally only a butcher would use, he started walking forward carefully. Unfortunately, the map wouldn't show the beings that were alive.
Heading forward, he could barely see anything because of the bloody mist and the blackish trees. A chilly wind was blowing, creating strange sounds like that of a child crying.
"Haa, looks better than any VR game I played. Such a horror vibe. All that is missing is a scary ghost or some deadly beast or maybe a mad killer?" Vritra spoke to himself in a low tone.
He had a feeling that if he couldn't maintain his sanity, he really might end up getting lost in the forest forever—or until his death.
Grrrrrrrr...
Awwoooooooo
Several sounds rang out as Vritra saw a small cliff in front of him. It was climbable, but on top of it he saw faint figures of dozens of creatures that resembled wolves but were nearly twice the size.
"MEAT!!" Vritra was overjoyed.
The damned hunger was becoming such a problem for him that he couldn't even fall asleep and had to carry a constant feeling of pain.
Just as Vritra was about to climb onto the cliff, he noticed something. The cries he had just heard were filled with pain and panic.
It didn't seem that the pack of creatures was looking for food, but that they were running from something so they wouldn't end up as its food.
In the next instant, several dozens of those creatures jumped down from the cliff, and they ran so fast that they even ignored Vritra, running for their lives.
Inside such an environment, it was impossible to even know whether it was night or day, or to keep track of time.
GRhhkkhhhh
Suddenly, Vritra heard loud wet, gurgling sounds as distorted shrieks and bone-grinding crackling noises came closer.
"!!!" Vritra instantly recognized those sounds. It was the same abomination that he had seen at night not long ago.
KHRAAAAAAAHH
Vritra felt a shiver as he saw a faint towering figure at the top of the cliff. His body reacted instinctively as he turned to his right and ran at full speed.
BOOOM
With an explosive sound, it landed on the ground. Ignoring those creatures, the abomination started following Vritra, running in such a strange manner with its twisted limbs.
'Fuck! Why did I jinx myself? I don't want any ghost or creature or mad killer!! And doesn't it only move during the night?' Vritra felt like slapping himself for what he'd said a few minutes ago.
He could clearly hear the sound of its countless teeth striking one another, the bone-cracking sound of its front legs that were twisted forward, and the screeching sound that made even the trees jerk.
'Right, I need to calm down first.' Vritra removed the instinctive fear his mind had developed towards that creature because of last time.
"Forbid: Sight, agility, gravity, strength, sound!!" Vritra shouted out loud, running at maximum speed for his dear life.
[Forbidden activated.]
Thankfully, the familiar message of the skill activation popped. Vritra glanced back when he stopped hearing the noises of the creature; all its sounds had gotten really low.
Its speed had decreased to some extent and it had lost more than sixty percent of its sight, while the weakening of the gravity made its movements even more difficult.
Vritra changed direction, and after creating some distance he stopped and turned to have a look at the creature that was madly charging into the trees, breaking all the surrounding trees as if they were made of paper.
All of the eyes on its body were covered by something, so it couldn't use that mental torture attack again.

Chapter 327: Half the Hands, Double the Trouble
Vritra paused as he observed the abomination that was more than twice as tall as him, it seemed to have gone mad as all the eyes on its body burst out suddenly, with dozens upon dozens of disgusting insects pouring out.
BUZZZZZ
The insects flew in all directions, and finally they located Vritra.
They let out strange buzzing sounds that seemed to calm down the abomination.
The creature adjusted its body in a strange way, twisting it so that the abomination's height was reduced to nearly 7 feet.
Its skin was torn by its own teeth, then it wriggled and, like worms, the skin began to connect.
It seemed that the creature was changing itself according to the circumstances.
{Sin RipMaw: An experiment that failed to give satisfactory results, and was dumped into the abandoned realm. Cleanse the dumping realm and obtain Sin Coins!!}
Suddenly a message flashed in front of Vritra's eyes. Just while he was watching the changes in the abomination's body in bewilderment, the creature had started to look a bit more humane in terms of body structure, though a lot more disgusting.
'What the hell? Such a creature is just a failed experiment? And what is this Sin Coin now?' Vritra thought, but he was startled when all the insects charged in his direction.
[Book of Dimensions Activated.]
Vritra just threw all the insects into the book, then he wondered if he could just do the same with this RipMaw-named creature, but just as he was about to try, the creature's body flashed and it disappeared.
{Sin Point Gained: Ambushed +1}
The abomination's speed had increased all of a sudden by several times and even the forbidden skill seemed to have stopped taking effect.
Vritra soon formed a link — these creatures were probably also created by the Divine, things that could adjust to any situation, so there was little chance that his skills could work for long.
WHOOOSH
SCCRRIIIIIRRRRRRR
A deafening sound suddenly echoed just beside Vritra.
He glanced to the side and saw countless eyes of the creature focused on him.
He didn't even have the time to activate any skill as the abomination opened its mouth to a twisted degree before biting down hard on his left hand.
SCRUNCH
Splish
With the sound of bone crunching and flesh being torn, the abomination's teeth sank deep into Vritra's arm as it tore his flesh, ripping his arm away from a little above the elbow.
"Aaaah!!" Unbearable pain shot through his body as blood splattered and poison entered Vritra's body.
Tiny insects wriggled into his arm through the wound.
[Intra Shuffle Activated.]
Vritra endured the pain as he jumped back and used Intra Shuffle to close the wound and push all the tiny insects out, even stopping the flow of blood to prevent the poison from spreading.
In an instant, the veins in his left arm had turned black. He might have died within a few seconds if he had not stopped the blood flow.
[Nether Eye Activated.]
As the third eye appeared on his forehead, Vritra could finally follow the speed of the abomination, but it was still too fast for him to react in time or flee from.
[Shift Activated.]
[Strength + Endurance → Agility]
His best chance at killing the creature, despite the power difference, was Blood Lock, but for that he needed to make it bleed.
'But will the Blood Lock even work on it?' Vritra wondered, but he had no choice but to try it.
KRIIIIIEEEEEEEEEKKKK
The abomination let out another furious roar as it shot towards Vritra, attacking him from behind. There were sharp teeth all over its body and those creepy eyes.
[SUCK! SUCK! SUCK! Activated.]
[Book of Dimensions Activated.]
The hybrid skill Intra Shuffle was activated on its own just in the nick of time as his body twisted in a way that the chances of the abomination hitting his vital parts decreased.
HISSSS...
Getting desperate, Vritra threw the long snake at the abomination to create even a tiny disturbance, but the moment the snake came in contact with its body, it was just ground into minced meat.
Then he used SUCK! SUCK! SUCK! Vritra had hoped to absorb the RipMaw's energy, but it was like there was no energy in its body, so he failed.
But he still succeeded in making the abomination stumble with this skill.
Holding the long knife in his left hand, Vritra charged forward at just the right moment, and before the impact he shifted all the points to strength.
CHIIIIIII
Thankfully the knife was able to pierce through the skin of the creature, plunging deep inside it, but...
'Why is there no blood?' Vritra felt a shiver. Just as he had expected, the Blood Lock was useless as well.
The abomination let out a loud angry screech, but before it could rip Vritra's body to pieces, the person in front of it disappeared.
'Fuck, killing it is going to be really hard.' Vritra moved at the fastest speed, creating some distance. He just left the knife buried in its body.
The abomination raised its twisted head towards the sky and let out a strange cry that made Vritra pause in his tracks and clutch his head in agony.
Even his disappearing state began to flutter. The mental attack was affecting him even though he was in a separate dimension.
It was an attack several times more dangerous than the eye one. Vritra began to bleed from his eyes and ears.
'Forbidden: This scream attracts beasts.'
Just when Vritra felt his consciousness slipping away, he used the only chance of his survival.
[Forbidden activated.]
Whrriiiiiiieeeesshhhhhhk!!
While releasing that strange scream, the abomination began to close in on Vritra as he fell back, panting heavily and with darkness consuming his vision.
Just when the creature was ten or so meters away from the helpless Vritra and about to find his exact location...
THUD THUD
Wooooo
Dozens upon dozens of beasts ran towards the scream, charging madly without even caring about the danger.
The RipMaw paused suddenly and saw the beasts, then it tried to search for Vritra but failed.
So, it changed the target and ran towards the beasts, which finally came to their senses and started fleeing.
Vritra rested in his dimensional book, letting out heavy breaths and feeling intense pain in his head.
He took some of the medicines that Chopper had given him before leaving. At least they could reduce the pain slightly.
"Ughhh, well that was quite... intense. How am I even supposed, haa haa, to kill a creature like that?" Vritra muttered in frustration. It was stronger than him in every aspect and had the perfect countermeasures for all his skills.
He cursed again upon looking at his severed left arm. It was quite a shitty feeling, losing a limb.
"Sin System, at least give me some hint damn it, even huff huff with upgraded skill I am no match for that thing. Haa, I miss Mutamorphis so much..." he spoke, sitting in that separate dimension.
He stared into the bloody mist for a while. He didn't want to just return like that, not without paying back that creature.
Otherwise, there would be no point and they would never be able to leave this realm.

Chapter 331: Underground Facility
Steel boots clanked against steel floors.
Kaiden walked in silence, letting his steps echo against the sterile walls of the underground facility he was escorted to. Harsh white lights buzzed overhead, strip-lining the corridors in an endless procession of illumination that gave no warmth. The air was unnervingly cold, scrubbed clean of even the faintest scent of life.
On either side, armed guards marched in perfect rhythm with helmets hiding their faces and weapons at the ready. A serious lack of firearms could mean only one thing: these were not soldiers of old age, but awakened combatants. However, they were an extremely disciplined bunch, not the chaotic ones often found in guilds.
No, these ones have been serving their countries even before the mana apocalypse hit Earth. Every move of theirs spoke of rigid protocol, the kind that left no room for jokes, comfort, or humanity.
Guards are trusted with the protection of something very important.
Normally, Kaiden would have been looking around curiously, eager to analyze the technology and other curiosities present. And there was plenty to marvel at. Seamless alloy plating in the walls, flickering holographic interfaces that updated in real time, cameras swiveling to track him at every turn. Transparent panels revealed hidden rooms: mechanical limbs suspended in fluid tanks, arcane batteries, holograms snapping through simulations of battlefields he didn't recognize. It was the kind of cutting-edge place he would have admired on any other day.
But not today.
Not with the weight of why he was here pressing down on his chest.
Kaiden's expression stayed hard, his eyes never straying. The light in them was restrained, his usual spark of curiosity muted into coldness.
The only one walking with him was Rae.
The tanned bodyguard walked at his side like a shadow of tempered muscle. She hadn't spoken a word since they descended, which was entirely uncharacteristic for the girl. Rae was the one who brought him his ringing phone in the hot spring, and when she understood the severity of what had happened, even she didn't feel like cracking jokes.
As for the Valkyries, they weren't allowed past the gates. Riven, Rae's twin sister, stayed with them.
The deeper they went, the heavier the air became.
The number of guards doubled, then tripled. Armored figures lined every hallway, standing shoulder to shoulder. Defensive artifacts embedded in the walls pulsed. Glyphs etched into runes of power, barrier nodes humming like generators, mana-reactive turrets concealed in ceiling hatches. Every ten paces, Kaiden could sense a layered spell formation overlapping another, suffocating in its redundancy.
This place was a fortress.
Finally, the escorting squad came to a halt. One of the faceless helmets turned toward him and spoke, voice distorted by a comm modulator.
"You go in. She stays."
Rae didn't offer resistance, knowing full well how the procedures in this place were. After all, she'd spent a lot of time here herself.
The heavy door slid open with a low hiss.
Inside, the room was... wrong. The walls, the floor, even the ceiling were forged from the same unyielding dungeon alloy, shimmering with a blue hue that screamed of enchantments. Nothing in here was fragile. Nothing could be broken by chance.
At the end of the room stood a single table, fashioned from the same material. It was thick, blocky, and positioned oddly; pushed against the far wall, instead of in the middle where it would normally belong. The room was far too empty not to place it somewhere in the middle for more usability.
Kaiden sat down without a word, already understanding why the table was positioned so inefficiently.
The moment he seated himself, the wall opposite him quivered for a moment, then turned transparent.
On the other side of him, at a table positioned exactly like his, sat a girl.
Black hair framed a pale face. Her body was bound in restraints so overengineered it bordered on absurd. Arcane manacles locked every joint, chains inscribed with suppression runes were wound around her torso, her neck fitted with a multi-seal collar that looked like it belonged on some calamity beast rather than a teenage girl. The chair she was shackled to wasn't a chair at all, but an immovable block of reinforced alloy, bolted into the floor.
She couldn't even lift a finger.
A prisoner. But not just any prisoner. An awakened. One the government had gone to obscene lengths to contain.
Kaiden's eyes dimmed with tiredness. His lips pressed together into a hard line.
And then, her gaze found him.
Her eyes lit up instantly, innocence sparkling with a joy so pure it almost made his angry heart waver in its conviction. A big smile bloomed on her face, looking like the sun after endless storm clouds.
"Kai!"
Alice Ashborn.
His little sister.
The same girl, the reports said, had been terrorizing civilians, demolishing infrastructure, and screaming about wiping out an entire company full of people, for reasons she had refused to disclose.
And as a result, here she was. Shackled, sealed, buried in an underground vault like a national disaster waiting to happen... smiling at him as if he'd just walked her home from school.
Kaiden exhaled slowly, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Of course. Of course, it was Alice.
"It's so good to see you, big brother!" she beamed as if all were perfect.
Kaiden kept staring at her dryly.
Alice didn't seem disturbed, however. "Big brother Kai, I missed you so much! How was your latest stream? I got a notification of it, but sadly I was a bit too busy..."
The girl shook her head dejectedly, seriously saddened about having missed the broadcast.
"Ah!" She gasped suddenly and sent him a dangerous gaze. "I hope you haven't done anything you shouldn't with those greedy women! Listen to your adorable little sister, for she can tell that they are gold diggers! Break up with them right now!"
"..." Kaiden's wry staring continued, which only made the girl blink repeatedly with an entirely innocent face as if all was completely well.
At least until Kaiden lifted his hand.

Chapter 332: You Wouldn't!
Kaiden's hand hovered mid-air, finger cocked back like a gun.
Alice's smile froze. Her eyes widened, then darted to his hand in terror.
"W-Wait, wait, wait, big brother! Y-You wouldn't-!" she stammered, jerking against her restraints, but the runic shackles only clanked uselessly. Her shoulders wriggled like a trapped rabbit, black hair spilling into her face as she desperately tried to lean away from the incoming doom.
Kaiden flicked.
His fingertip snapped forward with precision, aimed straight at her forehead across the transparent wall.
There was no physical impact—of course, there couldn't be—but Alice jolted as though she'd been struck by a sucker punch to the gut. Her eyes began watering instantly.
"Too cruel!" she whimpered with accusation, voice wobbling as fat tears began to roll down her cheeks. "You're too cruel, big brother! How could you do this to your loving little sister?! Don't you know younger sisters are to be cherished? To be spoiled? To be showered with love, not cruelly punished!!"
Her pout quivered, lower lip trembling in despair.
"How curious. But alas, a big brother's duty is to set their younger siblings on the right path when they stray." Kaiden didn't flinch at the heavy accusations thrown at him. His unimpressed stare could've frozen magma.
He stared deep into the teenage girl's red irises. "I'll say this only once, Alice. I am never breaking up with them. Those four are anything but gold diggers. And another thing..." His tone sharpened even further. "What exactly did you mean by 'done anything with them?' They're my lovers. We're all adults. I don't need your permission; we can do whatever we damn well want."
He then looked at the cameras aimed right at him and added with a whisper, "So long as the law permits..."
Hearing his firm words, Alice froze again while tears still glittered at the corner of her eyes. Then she bit her lip and puffed her cheeks up with indignation. Her restraints clinked angrily as she tried to shift in her seat like a sulking child.
"Unfair!" she declared, voice rising shrill but still strangely adorable. "Unfair, unfair, unfair! If you're going to spoil them with your love, then I deserve at least as much affection! At least! If you won't discard them, then treat me the same! I'm your sister, I should be even more important, but I'll settle for being just as important! Aren't I a nice little sister?"
Her tone wobbled between yandere obsession and childish petulance.
Kaiden's stare didn't soften. He just leaned forward, elbows on the dungeon-stone table, watching her brood as if she were a tantrum-throwing toddler instead of an infamous awakened terrorist chained like a nuclear warhead.
Seeing his deep eyes, Alice's bravado showed signs of cracking for the first time. She faltered. Her fingers twitched helplessly against her bonds, her gaze snapping between his eyes and the table.
Her voice came smaller, thinner. "W-What is wrong-" she began, trying to slip back into innocent tones.
But his gaze hardened further.
Alice stopped mid-sentence. Her throat clicked as she swallowed, refusing to finish. Because she knew. If she dared to pretend innocence right now, the punishment would be even worse than the last time.
And she hated—absolutely hated—being punished by her beloved big brother.
So her lips clamped shut. Her wide, watery eyes stayed fixed on him, trembling with love and fear all at once.
But the damage had already been done.
Kaiden's eyes narrowed to slits. He slipped a folded paper from his jacket. Alice froze instantly, having a horribly wrong premonition about the future.
"What is wrong, you ask? Let's see, shall we?"
He unfolded the paper and began to read, each word clipped and mercilessly lacking in emotions, which, knowing her big brother, Alice knew meant he was not happy with her, not one bit.
"Charge one: Two A-tier awakened hospitalized with critical injuries."
Alice flinched as her horrible premonition became reality. Her big brother was angry.
"Charge two: Four B-tier subordinates currently in emergency surgery. Prognosis, grim. Possible permanent disability."
Her eyes darted downward.
"Charge three: Thirty million dollars in infrastructure damage. Bridges collapsed, roads torn apart, a small district of businesses evacuated."
Alice winced, her ears turning pink as if his scolding words were the true disaster, not being shackled to an underground prison with such serious charges.
Kaiden's tone darkened further. "Charge four: Attempted first-degree murder, self-professed. You declared, and I quote, 'I'll murder every single member of ChronosX!'"
"K-Kai, I can explain!!"
"You will do no such thing."
The girl shrank back in her chair, biting her lower lip hard enough that it bled.
He lowered the paper an inch and gave her a glare sharp enough to pin her in place. "Does it still sound like nothing is wrong?"
But he wasn't done. He lifted the paper again.
"Charge five: Illegal acquisition and distribution of restricted mana explosives."
Alice squirmed, cheeks puffing up like a sulky hamster. "It was just one! Explosive, not explosives! I wanted to force that pig to eat it before pressing the button!" she squeaked defensively.
Kaiden ignored the interruption and folded the paper neatly, tapping it once against the table like a gavel. Each tap made the girl flinch as if a judge, no, not 'a judge', but 'the judge' had just decreed her guilty. His gaze bore into her as he spoke in a calm, strict cadence only an older brother could pull off.
"You're not just a brat throwing tantrums anymore, Alice. These aren't the antics of a little sister trying to get attention. These are serious crimes. Crimes that could have gotten thousands killed. And yet..." his eyes narrowed further "... you sit there demanding my affection. Do you really think this is how a younger sister should act?"
Alice's lips trembled, eyes glassy with tears, but her voice came out small and sulky, "Y-Yes... if it's for big brother's attention... then anything is justified..."
Her declaration only made his stare harder. This was the hardest stare the girl had ever had to face, and that said something when she saw the Shadow Monarch every single day.
Alice Ashborn was defeated in a millisecond and instantly shrank further, mumbling a meek little, "S-sorry... I wanted to protect you..."
"Haaah..."

Chapter 333: Chiding the Little Sis
Alice Ashborn was defeated in a millisecond and instantly shrank further, mumbling a meek little, "S-sorry… I wanted to protect you…"
"Haaah…" Kaiden's sigh lingered in the heavy air. His shoulders eased, though his gaze stayed sharp as he addressed his sister. "Alice, I do appreciate what you tried to do. And I love you dearly, too."
"!!" Her head snapped up, eyes widening with a blinding brightness, tears instantly forgotten. The chains rattled as she leaned forward as much as the restraints allowed, outright glowing with utmost joy. "R-really? You love me too, big brother?"
Kaiden gave a small nod. "Of course. But listen to me, I'm not that loser nerd going to university to study economics anymore. I'm not helpless. I'm an awakened combatant now, with powers of my own. I don't need you to act as my valiant knight."
Hearing his words, Alice's mood shifted. The girl's lips pressed together tightly, her eyes trembling with sadness. For a long moment, she was quiet, head bowed dejectedly. His words had struck too deep. But then, with a fragile voice, she found her way back.
"And what if someone accused me?" she asked softly at first, then her voice grew stronger. "What if people said I was a vile alien, a monster, and accused me of many horrible things? Would you take it sitting down? Would you let them spit on my name?"
Not waiting for his response, Alice pushed forward, her words gaining heat with every syllable she uttered.
"That's right! You're a hypocrite, big brother!" she accused, cheeks puffing up adorably. "Just because I'm your little sister, I'm supposed to behave like some perfect doll? I have emotions too! And my emotions scream at me to protect you, no matter what, even if you've gotten stronger! I would still feel the same even if you became stronger than Mother!"
Her manic red eyes gleamed as she blinked at him, proud and smug, practically wagging her tail. She was far too happy with the points she managed to bring up in her defense.
Kaiden leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together. He watched her with a long, quiet stare, the kind that made even the girl who'd faced down all sorts of elite monsters start to fidget. Finally, he leaned forward again, resting his crossed hands against his chin.
"There's some truth to your words, Alice. If you were attacked, whether physically or smeared with defamation, as I have been, I wouldn't sit still."
Alice's eyes lit up like fireworks, sparkling with triumph. "I knew it!" she burst out, chains clattering as she tried to wiggle excitedly.
But her victory was drowned in an instant, as if an ice bucket had been poured over her head.
"… But," Kaiden's voice cut cold, "I wouldn't go into the streets, screaming about murdering hundreds of civilians. I wouldn't try to kill awakened humans in broad daylight. What you did, Alice, was the peak of recklessness. You're like a bull that saw red."
Her triumphant glow shattered. She bit her lip, eyes watering again as she shrank back against her restraints.
"So no," Kaiden continued firmly. "I would not do what you have done. If I decided to protect my little sister, I would've been a lot smarter about it."
"!" Alice whimpered, clutching her bound hands as her eyes drooped. "Ggh! When it comes to Big Brother, I just… I can't hold back…"
Kaiden exhaled through his nose, rubbing at his temple with a wry, weary smile. "Yeah. I noticed."
"Hehe!" Alice couldn't help but giggle cutely. Even if she was being seriously reprimanded right now, she was bursting with joy beneath it all. How could she not? For years, she hadn't met her beloved sibling. These days, she was seeing him more and more! The days ahead seemed very bright to the girl.
Considering that she was currently held in an underground prison for the most dangerous criminals of the United States of America, bound by restraints she had no hopes of shedding, and facing charges that could see her spending the rest of her days either behind bars or forced into military service as a form of repentance, her mood was far too bubbly.
But, well, none of the officers listening in on the talk were surprised. After all, she was the daughter of that woman.
Speaking of… "Where's Mother?" Kaiden asked. "She doesn't make such rookie mistakes as letting you go on a rampage."
"She went to raid a dungeon!" Alice replied instantly. A big, opportunistic smile adorned her lips. "Big brother, I'm home all alone! It's scary! Can I sleep with you tonight?"
"…" There were so many things wrong with this girl, Kaiden didn't even know where to begin for a moment.
But he soon found his voice. "Sleep with me? First of all, I've already told you that you are too big a girl for that. Second, I'm honestly not sure if you noticed, but you're under arrest. Father won't do anything if I know him well enough; he'll let you rot here, hoping you learn a lesson or two. So the only way you're getting out anytime soon is if Mother steps in. Third, I'd appreciate it if you behaved a little more reserved while they record your every statement. At this rate, the entire government will think the Ashborns like to keep it in the family or something."
"Ah! And Mom's in a dungeon!" Alice yelped as realization dawned on her. Conveniently, her brain totally failed to pick up on his first and third points. "This means I can't sleep with my big brother tonight…"
"You can't sleep with your big brother on any night…" Kaiden whispered tiredly, voice full of defeat. Then he corrected himself, "Well, unless Calix or Cassian agrees to it."
Alice blinked. Once. Twice. Slowly. Her ears must've malfunctioned and replayed Kaiden's words incorrectly.
Then, as the girl realized that wasn't the case, her entire face scrunched up, looking as if she had just licked the foulest thing on earth. Her nose wrinkled, her eyes narrowed to slits, and her lips twisted into an expression so utterly revolted it could have peeled paint from the walls.
"… What?" she gasped, shaking her head wildly. "Big brother, don't say such cursed things with that serious voice of yours!"
She began gagging dramatically while thrashing in her restraints. "Those two losers don't even register as family to me! Obviously, I meant you, big brother Kaiden! You're my only brother!"
Her cheeks puffed like a hamster, red eyes sparkling furiously as she did her utmost to stomp her bound feet against the floor. "Take it back! Take it back right now! I won't be able to sleep tonight if you don't take it back!"
Kaiden just stared at her. Then, at last, his lips transformed into the smallest of dry chuckles.
Hopeless. Completely hopeless.
His girls had told him a dozen times this was not normal. And he knew. He knew it perfectly well. But sitting here, watching Alice puff and whine and pout as if her heart was breaking… he didn't know what to do. She was far too gone.
But what he did know was simple.
"Separating you from me doesn't work."

Chapter 334: Back to the Grind
"Separating you from me doesn't work."
Even after years of distance, she was still just as infatuated with her big brother as before, if not worse.
"Duh." Alice's reply came immediately, as obvious as breathing. She even gave him a look as though he had just declared the sky was blue.
Kaiden pinched the bridge of his nose. "… We'll have to ask Mother for some sort of arrangement. Because if you go rogue every time someone so much as looks at me funny, it's not going to end well. What you did today wasn't just reckless for your future; it put me at risk, too. What if the world puts the pieces together? The deal was that I would never be associated with the Ashborns. If their youngest daughter keeps showing up to murder my enemies, people will connect the dots. They are already asking so many questions about my existence; the last thing I want is to grant them more ammunition."
Alice, of course, tuned out most of that. Her eyes lit up at the very first part. "What sort of arrangement?!"
"…" Kaiden exhaled once again, then leaned back in his chair. Time to enter negotiator mode. "What would help your heart calm down enough not to repeat what happened today?"
"I want to hug and kiss big brother every night before going to sleep in his arms!" she declared instantly, chest puffed with pride at her perfect request.
"No."
"Ugh!" She yanked on her restraints. "Okay, then just sleep togeth-"
"No."
"Big brother!" she whined, voice cracking, but his unimpressed stare didn't even blink. "Going on dates?"
"No."
Alice puffed her cheeks to the limit, red eyes sparking furiously. "Fine! For now, I'll settle for visiting you and doing normal sibling activities! But I refuse to concede any more!"
"Okay. Deal."
"Yaaayyy!!" Alice's squeal rang out so joyfully that it almost shook the reinforced chamber walls.
"Now we just have to get Mother to agree."
"Leave that to me, big brother." She winked at him.
"… Alright." Kaiden was simply too tired to argue anymore.
He rose to his feet, and then, after a pause, he extended his hand toward the transparent wall separating them.
Alice's breath caught. Her eyes went wide, shining like twin stars, before she strained forward in her restraints as if trying to cross the barrier herself. She couldn't, of course, but it didn't matter. She closed her eyes with a blissful smile, humming happily as he mimed gentle headpats on the other side of the wall.
"Hang in there, sister," Kaiden murmured softly.
"Mmnnn~" Alice purred like a pampered cat, melting at the imaginary touch.
Kaiden lingered only a moment longer before turning on his heel and leaving the chamber. The heavy doors groaned shut behind him.
…
"Your little sister is wild, dude," Rae chuckled as soon as he stepped outside.
"I'm tired."
"Hahaha! I bet. Alice Ashborn makes even me look like a saint. Anyhow, let's go back. I'm sure your ladies will be happy to cheer you up," she winked while patting him on the back.
Just like that, Kaiden's visit to the secret, awakened prison facility had concluded.
Now, it was time to move forward.
And move forward they did.
Valhalla's Sinners did not stop streaming. Not for a day.
The moment they went live, the hate came crashing in.
Every broadcast was a battlefield. The chat scrolled with venom.
"Fraud!"
"Who did you sell your soul to get your powers?!"
"Free the women, coward!"
The like-dislike ratio looked like a massacre, and every video upload bled with comments so toxic it was as though the entire viewerbase had declared war on them.
And yet, the Sinners kept going.
No matter the venom, no matter the sneers and threats, they streamed every single day. Their voices never faltered, their performances never slowed, their smiles never disappeared.
Because they understood one thing: the moment they stopped, the haters would feel like they were winning, adding even more motivation to continue the hate train.
So they pushed on.
One day bled into the next, then another. A week passed, and a full cycle of firestorms endured.
And on the seventh night, Kaiden found himself seated in Luna's "gamer girl throne," a ridiculously plush neon-lit couch covered in far too many pillows. A blanket was draped lazily around them both, cocooning them in cozy warmth.
Luna sat snugly in Kaiden's lap with a controller in hand. Her tongue was peeking out at the corner of her lips as the TV screen exploded with gunfire and neon chaos. Kaiden was playing alongside her in the match, his own controller held loosely, but his head kept bobbing forward, eyes fluttering shut as exhaustion gnawed at him.
It didn't take long for them to lose.
"For fuck's sake! These corner-hugging clowns! Imagine loading up a game and being like 'I'll spend the next five hours sitting in the corner and camping! It's gonna be so much fun!'" Luna launched into a cute little curse spree. But when she glanced over, she didn't see frustration reflected back, only Kaiden's head dipping forward, half a second from nodding off entirely.
Her expression transformed in an instant. A giant, loving smile broke across her face, radiant and warm. All her annoyance at the game vanished.
Kaiden felt her shift in his lap, her perky butt pushing against him as she set her controller aside and turned around to face him. She leaned in close, letting her purple hair spill over his chest as her eyes glittered with mischief and love.
He didn't need prompting. Even drained, even seconds away from sleep, Kaiden was always ready to embrace his girls. His hand slid down, cupping her soft curves and massaging her delicious butt with a squeeze.
"Touching my butt is an instinct to you at this point, Kai!" Luna giggled softly, then leaned in further until their lips met. The kiss started tender but quickly deepened, becoming a long, unhurried exchange filled with warmth. They didn't close their eyes; instead, they kept staring into each other, love and trust flowing freely between them.
For Kaiden, the weight of exhaustion melted away in that gaze. The world could despise them, the haters could rage, but right here, wrapped in a blanket, in Luna's arms, in her kiss, he felt untouchable.
