Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: Star Luo City Oscar and Dai Mubai Make Their Move

Davis's talent was indeed quite good. In the original story, during the Soul Master Tournament four years later, he was only twenty four years old yet had already reached level 49 soul power just one step away from becoming a Soul King.

However, at that time Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing had both already used immortal grade herbs, with their strength and talent improving rapidly day by day. Coupled with Tang San leading them like a cheat code, they were able to defeat Davis in that battle.

Nevertheless, Davis's talent was still impressive. He might not have been in the very top tier, but he was definitely at least solidly in the second tier.

But in Oscar's eyes now, all of that didn't matter. Whether in strength or talent, he was certain he surpassed Davis.

Ignoring Davis's mockery, Oscar and Dai Mubai followed Zhao Wuji out of the Star Dou Great Forest and headed toward Star Luo City.

Since Davis had appeared here, it meant that in Star Luo City there should only be his fiancée Zhu Zhuyun left. If that was the case, Dai Mubai's plan to take Zhu Zhuqing away might become easier.

Of course, they had to act quickly while Davis was away from Star Luo City. Otherwise, if Dai Mubai were discovered there by Davis, things wouldn't end so easily especially since Star Luo City was Davis's home turf. As the crown prince, with overt support, the people Davis could mobilize would be far more than just a Soul Sage.

Interestingly, when Zhao Wuji led Oscar and Dai Mubai out of the Star Dou Great Forest and into the nearest small town to rest, they spotted two luxurious carriages. There were no obvious markings, but from the details, Dai Mubai immediately recognized them as belonging to his elder brother Davis.

These two carriages were guarded by only two Soul Elders and were parked at the entrance of the small town.

When Oscar heard Dai Mubai say the carriages were Davis's, he took advantage of the quiet night to secretly dismantle a few small yet important parts from the carriages things that wouldn't be noticed immediately but would cause inconvenience. He also stuck several thin pins into the seat cushions.

These little tricks wouldn't cause Davis any major harm, but they were enough to disgust him and delay his return Oscar considered that payback enough.

When Dai Mubai learned what Oscar had done, he felt gratitude and also satisfaction. After all, being able to annoy Davis was always a pleasure.

Davis had indeed been unpleasant to him before, mocking and ridiculing him every few days. Before Dai Mubai left the royal palace for Shrek Academy, Davis would suppress him nearly every week or two, making his life miserable.

After finishing their little sabotage, the three set out toward Star Luo City under Zhao Wuji's lead. Because they traveled at full speed, they reduced the originally fifteen day journey by a third, arriving in just ten days.

As the capital of one of the only two empires on the Douluo Continent, Star Luo City's grandeur and magnificence ranked among the very best in the world.

Its city walls were built to the same standards as an imperial capital towering 80 meters high, more than 30 meters thick, entirely constructed from granite.

A city of such massive scale was no easy feat to build; just the city wall alone would have required immense wealth and manpower.

When Dai Mubai once again saw this city where he had lived for more than ten years, he couldn't help but feel moved. But his only thought now was to take Zhu Zhuqing away as soon as possible.

Of course, he vowed that he would return one day openly and in glory.

Oscar, too, was amazed at the sight. Though the Douluo Continent had hundreds of millions of people, there were only about a hundred thousand soul masters.

Yet they could still construct such monumental architecture, proving this world had its own way of operating.

The soldiers on the walls and at the gates were clearly different from those of the Heaven Dou Empire. Even the gate guards had impeccable military bearing and discipline, without arrogance, treating ordinary people politely while strictly fulfilling their duties.

This was rare. These soldiers, though ordinary humans, had been carefully selected and held high status within the empire.

To be so disciplined even toward commoners was a testament to their rigorous training. It was no wonder the military strength of the Star Luo Empire far surpassed that of the Heaven Dou Empire.

Although Dai Mubai was a prince, he had rarely left the palace in over ten years. Unless someone knew him personally, they would have no idea who he was.

As for his blond hair and hetero chromatic eyes yes, they were unusual, but with so many people on the continent, as long as Dai Mubai didn't identify himself, the guards would never guess his true identity.

Thus, the three entered Star Luo City with ease. Zhao Wuji and Oscar, using details Dai Mubai had given them, worked out a plan to rescue Zhu Zhuqing.

Though Zhu Zhuqing was occasionally pressured, like Dai Mubai she wasn't confined, and lived with relative freedom.

They just needed to figure out her daily routine to find a chance to approach her and take her away.

Even though Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing had not met many times and weren't very familiar, he still knew a few places she might appear.

After three days of observation, Dai Mubai finally found an opportunity to approach Zhu Zhuqing though she was accompanied by a Soul Ancestor–level guard.

When Dai Mubai confirmed her whereabouts, he led her and the guard into a quiet alley.

Oscar was already waiting there. Once Dai Mubai brought Zhu Zhuqing and her guard over, Oscar blocked the guard while Dai Mubai had Zhu Zhuqing take a Swift Wind and Rain Swallow Sausage before leaving the alley.

At this point, the guard realized something was wrong. His two yellow and two purple soul rings rose as his Nether Civet martial spirit enveloped him.

"Kid, what are you trying to do taking our young lady? I'll have you know that our Third Miss is the fiancée of the empire's third prince. If you dare touch anyone from our Duke's Mansion, you'll face consequences you can't imagine," the guard said coldly to Oscar.

Oscar, seeing the guard hadn't recognized Dai Mubai, had an idea. "Oh, I know. But I'm with the crown prince. Given His Highness's relationship with the emperor, do you think a runaway third prince still has a chance?"

He smirked. "The Third Miss isn't going back. Why not work for us instead? Become an inside man for the crown prince he won't treat you badly."

The guard frowned. "Do you know the consequences of harming the Third Miss?"

Clearly, he wasn't going to compromise, or he wouldn't have resorted to threats.

Oscar was unfazed. "Do you think the crown prince would dare act now without a reason?"

When words failed, the guard's soul power surged and he suddenly vanished, reappearing before Oscar a black shadow lunging in with his fourth soul skill, Nether Flash. This skill, from a Nether Panther spirit beast, allowed instant movement within five meters, but at a heavy soul power cost.

He clearly underestimated Oscar, thinking him too young probably only around level 30. Planning to subdue him and force him to reveal the Third Miss's location, the guard attacked fiercely.

But Oscar had been prepared. As soon as he sensed soul power fluctuations, he summoned a sky blue jade sword to his left hand, revealing two yellow and one purple soul ring, while his right hand hid a sausage.

He raised the jade sword just in time to block the guard's claw strike. The guard was shocked not only had Oscar reacted instantly, he'd blocked the blow without even using a soul skill.

What's more, the guard felt a stinging sensation in his claws upon contact, yet Oscar didn't budge an inch.

Before the guard could recover, Oscar launched a counterattack with precise sword techniques. The guard, lacking a weapon, could only parry with his claws, each clash bringing that same sharp sting.

A Soul Ancestor of level 45 should have easily overwhelmed a Soul Elder, but Oscar's physical strength was close to that of a Soul Emperor. His jade sword wasn't a martial spirit but an external spirit bone that had undergone one evolution, equivalent to a ten thousand year spirit bone, boosting his attack power and strength by 50%.

With such advantages, plus sword intent woven into every strike, Oscar quickly gained the upper hand.

"Frost moon Sword Technique, Third Form: Frost moon Blossoms!"

The guard sensed danger and unleashed his third soul skill, Nether Slash, meeting Oscar's attack head on.

Seeing Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing already gone, Oscar decided to finish things quickly. His jade sword turned icy blue, unleashing:

"Twin Frost moon Sword Technique, Fifth Form: Three Feet of Ice!"

The guard, drained from his earlier attack, couldn't use his fourth skill in time and had to block directly. He was shocked to find his claws instantly frozen, the ice spreading up his arms.

An icy blue sword was suddenly at his neck, the chilling aura freezing him solid within five seconds into a human shaped ice sculpture.

Oscar spared his life, melting a tiny hole near the nose for him to breathe, but the guard would need considerable time to thaw and recover.
