Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Nothing Goes as Planned

William was experimenting, he tried to move stats from the goblin, the number did move from the goblin to his status bar...

But there was a problem—the stats were overlapping with his own, rather than being additive. Since his own stats were higher than the goblin's, there was no increase in his stats. However, it wasn't all bad when it came to skills. He could essentially take away the skill without any issues.

"My stats increased significantly this time... insane, my luck is at its peak now. Well, I've been lucky lately, maybe that's why." Pondering over his incredible stat growth, William sighed, "I guess my class wasn't so bad after all. I was envious for no reason."

Although he wasn't a warrior, his stats resembled one, and he could easily pose as a warrior if he wanted to. If his theory was correct, he would gain another skill at level 10, and he was eager to see what it would be.

"Why is my skill the same as before? Shouldn't there be two more added from the goblin?" Indeed, there should have been, but they were nowhere to be found. Something even more unusual caught his attention—Exploit now had "Codex of Exploit" written beside it. Curious, William clicked on the interface to investigate further.

A new window appeared:

Exploit: 1

Mana Bomb: Hijack a mana system, escalating to gain ownership of the target.

Hacked Target: A limbless Goblin.

Stolen Skill: Poison Maker, Track.

Stolen Item: Poison pouch, Dagger.

William examined the window carefully, trying to figure it out, and finally reached a conclusion.

"The Codex of Exploit not only stores exploits but also the exploited targets, including their skills and items. That's a clever way to organize. But how do I use the stolen skill?" William attempted to transfer the skill from the Codex to his interface status window, but he couldn't.

Frustrated, he muttered, "What's going on? Why can't it move like stolen stats?!"

Eventually, he had to abandon his relentless efforts.

He theorized that, unlike stats, skills require innate talent or rely on proper transfer and utilization by others. The reason was simple: he couldn't do it because he didn't have a class that could accommodate it.

In the future, he might be able to temporarily borrow a class and set up a provisional system—a kind of adaptive framework designed to simulate the ideal conditions for mastering it. This virtual system wouldn't just mirror the class's core traits; it would allow skills to be transferred, contextualized, and applied as if they were truly his. Through it, he could witness how the class functions in real time, testing its synergy with his own traits before making it permanent.

At the moment, he needed to create a backdoor; building a rootkit was out of the question. It was an impossible task given his limited knowledge and time, and any second now, the goblin's earlier groans might draw a monster's attention.

He quickly planted a rudimentary backdoor and stuffed the limbless goblin into a bag before heading deeper into the forest. An ogre arrived at the spot where William had been moments ago, scanning the area for the creature it sensed nearby. Unable to find any trace, it roared in frustration, the sound echoing through the forest. The roar sent shockwaves through the ground, causing William to nearly stumble as he ran.

"Phew that was close." William disappeared into the darkness of the forest.

Three men were on a quest to gather herbs for a healer. One of them, clad in armor resembling a lion, approached an old man at the counter. "Hey, old man, we'd like to take this quest," he said, handing over a torn piece of paper from the quest board.

As Alex glanced at the paper, he chuckled and commented without judgment, "Isn't this overkill? Three men for herb gathering?"

Suddenly, a hand shot out, grabbing him by the collar. "Listen, old man, it's none of your business. Just register the damn quest," snarled Eren.

Eric quickly intervened, prying Eren's hands off Alex. "What are you doing, Eren? Unhand him! Have you gone crazy?" Eric, being much stronger, easily pulled Eren away.

Eren grumbled, "This old fool is the crazy one. Just do your job, old fart."

Bran watched from the sidelines, clearly amused by the scene, but chose not to interfere. Alex hurriedly registered the quest and signaled to Eric. Eric shielded Alex as he led Eren away, while Bran, still smiling, followed behind.

Three men entered the forest, heading toward Mount Obelisk. The one-eyed orc resided there, but they had no intention of confronting it. They were there because of a rumor about a nearby den rumored to hold treasure. It was said to have been discovered accidentally by a scout while accompanying Jonathan's group to observe the orc and analyze its habits. During this mission, a scout stumbled upon a den filled with weapons and skill books. Unfortunately, someone provoked the orc, which chased the scout to the den and devoured him on the spot.

The orc then never left the den, not only Jonathan's and his group plan was foiled to observe it, also the orc now sat at the treasure pile.

The three men were not foolish; they had a plan to steal the weapons and skill books by tricking the dim-witted brute.

Eric, with his tanker-type class, would aggro the orc, while Eren used his skill, Murderer's Gaze, to distract it further. Bran, equipped with his Lion Roar skill, would deafen the orc. Their goal was to annoy the orc like persistent flies, forcing it to abandon its den. The grand plan was to make the orc so uncomfortable that it would leave in search of a new resting place.

Maybe they were foolish.....
