Chapter 8 - Chapter 6 - A New Companion

"Even titans fall.

But sometimes… someone else stands up for you."

Scene 1 — The Graveyard Battlefield

Shojiro Momo knelt in the ruins of Tokyo.

A broken god among corpses.

Burned skin.

Muscles torn apart by their own power.

Blood pooling beneath him.

Vision flickering between red and black.

He had unleashed 99% of VYTHRA.

An overdrive never meant to be used that early.

And now?

He was dying.

Scene 2 — The Last Enemy

The final wave of demons surged toward him.

Nyghouls shrieking above, acidic wings slicing air.

Rendracers twitching like possessed insects.

A Colossal Berserker, four arms and a crown of bone, roaring behind them.

Shojiro couldn't move.

He had nothing left to give.

Shojiro (internal):

"My body's failing. My soul's cracked."

"...Is this it for me?"

He dropped to both knees.

The demons closed in.

Scene 3 — A Silhouette in Gold

Then—

light.

Not holy light. Not divine.

But something else.

Precise. Mechanical. Brilliant.

One of the Nyghouls exploded mid-flight.

A Rendracer twisted mid-run — torn apart by invisible filaments.

The air shimmered as dozens of high-frequency blades tore through the swarm like paper.

Shojiro's hazy eyes caught a shape:

A tall figure, coated in obsidian nanosteel armor.

Glowing blue circuits ran across his limbs.

His right hand was a modular gauntlet, reshaping mid-motion.

His face was half-shadowed by a cracked helmet.

His voice cold, clear.

???:

"Target class: Overrun.

Executing sweep sequence... Complete."

Scene 4 — The Unknown Savior

Shojiro stared, eyes unfocused.

Shojiro (faintly):

"...Who…?"

The figure stepped toward him. Looked down. Analyzed him.

No words of comfort. No recognition.

Just a flicker of a scan across Shojiro's chest — the faint rune of Yggdrasil glowing beneath blood.

The figure narrowed his eyes.

???:

"...So you're Chosen too."

Then, calmly, he raised his arm again as the second wave charged — activating a second-stage Overlink.

Dozens of demon bodies were vaporized in an instant.

Scene 5 — The Last Thought

Shojiro felt it.

> Safety.

For the first time since dying.

For the first time since the world ended.

He felt someone else carrying the weight.

And just before unconsciousness took him…

> "I don't know who he is…"

"But maybe I'm not alone in this hell."

Fade to black...

"The man who saved me…

Was supposed to be dead."

Scene 6 — Lab of Light & Steel

Shojiro's eyes fluttered open.

White ceiling.

Cold air.

Sterile lights.

And silence.

His entire body felt numb, wrapped in pressure.

He tried to sit up — and immediately groaned as pain screamed through his spine.

Where… am I?

He was shirtless, wrapped in regenerative mesh. His muscles twitched like they were still recovering from VYTHRA overdrive.

Shojiro's head tilted.

A blurry silhouette stood in the far corner of the lab — half in shadow, arms crossed, leaning against a console.

Scene 7 — The Smartass in the Shadows

Shojiro (hoarse):

"...Who... the hell... are you?"

The figure stepped forward slightly, but didn't reveal his face just yet.

???:

> "Damn, you woke up fast.

That Yggdrasil bond must be juiced."

"Or maybe your dumbass is just too stubborn to die."

Shojiro narrowed his eyes.

The silhouette chuckled.

???:

> "Also—seriously, man.

You weigh like 600 pounds.

I had to carry you here like a dead body stuffed with protein powder."

Shojiro blinked.

???:

> "Did your Primordial forget to teach you how to use the damn Yggdrasil healing node?"

"Or were you trying to set a new national record for 'Most Dramatic Near-Death Pose in Demon Hellscape'?"

Shojiro blinked again. Slowly.

Then his eyes widened.

Scene 8 — Recognition Hits

The figure stepped fully into the light.

Jet black armor with blue neon trims.

A glowing gauntlet morphing into different tools.

Messy dark blue-black hair.

And those eyes: calculating, tired, dangerous.

Shojiro didn't need him to speak another word.

He knew exactly who stood before him.

Shojiro (whispers):

"...No way."

"You're… Karl Mitsubishi."

The man raised an eyebrow.

Karl (smirking):

"Didn't think I'd still be on Google, huh?"

Shojiro's jaw clenched in disbelief.

Shojiro:

"You were the scientist.

The one working on that nanite-based car… the one that could transform into a mech.

You were famous. Worldwide.

Then you disappeared."

Karl shrugged.

Karl:

"Yeah. I kinda… fell into my own invention.

Died. Got rebuilt. Now I kill demons. Funny how life turns out."

Scene 9 — Shojiro Processes the Truth

Shojiro looked down at his own body — pulsing with micro-healing pulses, the scars of battle still faintly burning.

He looked back up.

He'd just been saved by Karl Mitsubishi — the greatest tech innovator of his time.

A man who died… and came back as something inhuman.

And for the first time since reincarnating

Shojiro smiled, blood still on his teeth.

Shojiro:

"...Guess I'm not the only freak around here."

Karl (grinning):

"Not by a long shot."
