Thanks to Logan's spiders sticking to everyone's wrists just before they got tossed through the Red Portal, the students now weren't completely blind out here. The spiders were tiny Creations of Logan and as they integrated into the watch they acted like mini radios, letting them at least text and send short voice clips to each other. It was nothing fancy, but on a planet where beasts could tear your head off in a blink, it was a blessing.
Honestly, Logan should never have been able to contact them at all. Not across planets. Not with this cheap tech. But because the military had built interplanetary relay stations using the Green Family's gifted tech, and because Logan was just stubborn enough to keep trying, somehow he made it work.
Getting the signal tuned on an abandoned beast planet was another headache altogether, but he did it. And right now? For local communication, the spiders' radio waves were more than enough.
The moment Logan connected them all, every student felt some relief. Knowing someone else was alive out there meant they weren't dead yet. The new mission was simple — meet up as soon as possible.
The hologram spat out a rough map so everyone could see each other's locations.
Where Quinn stood, about 500 meters away, he could see a huge dome. Probably the only thing on this planet that wasn't wrecked. It looked solid, untouched, almost like even the beasts didn't want to mess with it.
After talking things through the group chat., they split roles.
Erin and Amy were in the north.
Vorden was toward the east.
Ray dem… south. Surrounded by three Death Bats, based on the terrified voice clip he'd sent.
Sarah and Michael were somewhere close to Vorden.
Erin and Amy were safe for now and they decided to head to the Dome, and as for Vorden, he was told to meet Sarah and Michael first, since they were close.
But the real problem was Ray Dem.
Everyone heard that clip.
The kid was panicking, whispering like he was scared to even breathe. Wings beating around him, air being sliced. Three Death Bats. That's basically the same as writing your own will.
Nobody wanted to go.
To them, going to help was basically suicide.
And honestly? They weren't wrong.
When Quinn said he was going to help Ray they all thought that he was talking crazy — even Vorden.
For Vorden he knew Quinn had an ability. But in his mind Quinn was just a Level 2. Sure, he was fast and weirdly calm, but a Level 2 vs three Bat like creatures was too much?
That'd be writing your own death report.
And there was another problem.
According to Vorden each military facility had a guard door with specific password and to break one of those doors was a hard task on itself
But Quinn had stated he could do something to open the door without actually breaking it down. Nobody knew how he was going to do just that but from the claims of Quinn they could only believe.
So If he didn't come, Only solution was to break the door but that would attract too much attention and the worst scenario was breaking the door would breach the safely of the place itself then the only safe place could become safe no more.
That's why half the group didn't want him to go.
And the other half… honestly… didn't want to be the ones going instead.
They all were powerless and no different from ordinary humans.
But Quinn didn't say much. He just looked at the map, looked at Ray Dem's blinking signal, and made his final decision.
"I'm going to get Ray Dem," Quinn said.
The group chat exploded.
Vorden: "Dude no. You're just Level 2 Quinn, even I wouldn't go there alone."
Michael: Quinn! wait! How come you can use the ability, when all of us can't ?
Erin: "No offence! by the time you reach there Ray Dem would be basically dead already. You going just makes two bodies."
Amy: "You're the only one who knows the dome code. Don't be stupid Quinn! Maybe you can use your ability but this is total madness."
Michael: "Bro… at least wait for backup?"
Sarah: "This is insane, Quinn, this is not like the time you somehow pulled a stunt during the 2nd year bullying, the beasts here are even worse you won't survive a second alone. Sometime you need to be logical & not delusional, and Ray is not even answering.
It's true, he also deserves to be saved but at this state we are just as hopeless as him. so please!"
Quinn just listened quietly, letting their panic burn itself out.
Then he said, "I'm the closest. If I don't go now, he dies. It's that simple, and if you guys are forgetting, Ray is also in the same chat as us."
Vorden gritted his teeth. Quinn could almost hear it.
"Quinn… you're gonna get yourself killed."
"Then keep the others safe until I come back. I promise I will be alright Okay.
We'll rendezvous near the dome" Quinn said.
The roles were finalized.
Vorden would move to Sarah and Michael and meet with others later near the Dome.
Erin and Amy would start heading toward the dome, staying hidden.
And Quinn would move towards Ray.
Ray's voice clip flickered again, weak, like it was fading.
Quinn didn't wait anymore.
He turned south.
The sky above him felt heavier.
The wind carried something like a warning — that low, humming pressure right before a predator locked onto you.
Vorden's voice came through one last time, quieter this time.
"Quinn… I'll Come to you soon once I can keep the others safe so survive till then."
"I will," Quinn replied.
Then He ended the chat.
