Chapter 1 - Prologue

"Huff, Huff.... How did things go so wrong," a figure on his knees said, while staring at a towering beast glooming above him. It was over forty feet tall with red obsidian scales running down from its head to its tail. Spikes protruded from its arms and legs making it look as though it was surrounded by a thick layer of spiky armor. Its large mouth, laced with sharp jagged teeth made the figure below it look tiny and insignificant. One of its eyes was closed with blood leaking from it, the other though shone with fury.

"Why do you look so surprised!" A sharp voice echoed, "Did you really expect to win!" It chuckled maniacally.

The figure looked up, his eyes squinted as he stared at the figure with pale skin sitted above the large beasts head. He looked around, five bodies littered around him, not dead, but on the verge of it.

The figure sighed softly, before slowly standing up, "What makes you think you've won!" He chuckled lightly, "As long as I'm still standing, this fight isn't over."

His aura suddenly spiked, the ground began shaking slightly, his eyes glowing brightly as the air around him suddenly began to boil.

"Ohhh! What's this! A final resort, your kind has always been good at that!" The figure on the beast remarked, mockery clearly laced in each word.

The figure below sighed softly once more, his eyes closed as a crimson aura suddenly burst forward. It was so intense it caused the ground to tremble. The towering beast that stood above him shivered slightly. The energy felt cold yet hot at the same time.

"You must be really crazy resorting to such methods, do you really plan on sacrificing your life just to beat me!"

The figure gritted his teeth, his eyes burning red with anger, "I don't care about all that! But now, I am really mad— it's time to end this once and for all."

Five years and three months ago

Humans, since the beginning of time had always had one flaw that stuck to them no matter how much they evolved— greed. As long as something that was beneficial to them was found, they would try to covet it to make it theirs and theirs alone. That was what led to the demise of the earth as a whole.

It didn't happen immediately though, it started slowly. Humans began to increase in population, earth almost became to small for the whole population to live there. They also began making quick advancement in technology thanks to a newly discovered mineral called Xelarthite.

It was an amazing substitute for literally every mineral in the world. The best part— one only needed a bit of it, and it could still power a whole city for days.

After finding out so many uses for this mystic item, humans as usual— became consumed by greed and began destroying the earth in search of this material.

As such, the earth became— inhabitable, causing a mass relocation to a much larger planet that could contain them— Planet Aetherion.

The planet was large and peaceful as well— too peaceful in fact. And that was the harsh reality of the world they had come to.

It turned out the humans weren't the only ones inhabiting the planet. Beasts— mutated creatures with superhuman strength. Worst of all, they were being controlled by vile creatures. The humans decided to name them Demons.

Humanoid creatures with horns and pale skin, they were not stupid like the beasts, but had intelligence close to that of the humans.

An all out war ensued between the demons and the humans. It was a massacre— their technology stood no chance against the demon's superhuman abilities.

The humans were utterly defeated— driven close to extinction.

That was until a human began to develop traits— traits that granted them abilities. It started with just one, and it spread like a virus to the rest. Whether it was a blessing, or a curse, they didn't know. But it helped them greatly.

They were able to fight back against the demons. Each confrontation was more deadly than the last, but they pulled through.

The demons at some point left the planet— no one knew their reason for falling back or losing the war intentionally but one thing was sure, the humans were at peace again.

They decided to call those abilities, Specialties. Those who had the abilities were referred to as specialists. Even though the demons still sent troops to terrorize the humans once in every two to three years, the humans were always able to answer back and defend themselves thanks to those specialties.

The humans were able to rebuild back their old population, with 95% having specialties.

And I ended up as part of the unlucky 5% without one.
