Chapter 44 - He's an elder

Arya woke up to Alfa staring at her. He had this sad expression, as if he wanted to say something, but was thinking about how.

Arya yawned and sat up in bed. Both looked at each other, not knowing what to say.

Alfa finally broke the silence, "Morning, love."

"Morning," Arya replied, then saw that Alfa still had the look. "What's up?" She asked, not knowing if she really wanted the answer.

"It's just... the elders are coming again. They still want to know your answer to the last question they asked you!" Alfa said, his eyes lowered for a moment, then he looked at her, straight into her blue eyes, and said, "I want you to answer them honestly. My father also needs to know how he made people feel. How people still react to his long done violence."

Arya stared at him. She had thought that he would tell her not to say anything or just lie and say she liked everyone and wished everyone a long life. But here he was, saying, "Be honest."

"But... wouldn't that hurt him and this pack?" Arya asked.

"Almost every new Luna says the same thing. No one likes my father, and the reason this question was added was so that my father realizes that what he did wasn't good. It wasn't power. It was simply destruction."

Arya saw something in Alfa's eyes, something that she hadn't seen before. Was it anger? Was it hate? She couldn't tell.

Arya held his hand. "If you are fine with this, then I will say it."

"Get up and get dressed. They will call you in a few hours. Oh, and Vivien is getting released from the hospital in a few days. You will have to arrange somewhere for her to stay," Alfa said, smiling and walking out of the room.

Arya took this as her first luna project. She smiled and got up, freshen up, and got dressed in a white blouse and black loose pants.

She looked at herself in the mirror and, for the first time since been marked, stared at the still raw red wound on her neck, near the shoulder.

She slowly touched it. It felt raw, but she didn't feel pain. She felt Alfa enter the sitting room and everyone bowing to him.

She quickly removed her hand from her neck, and instantly, the feeling was gone.

Arya quickly combed her hair and then applied some face toner, then walked out of the room to the dining area.

No one was there. She went into the kitchen and found a few servants there, who immediately bowed to her.

"Can we help you, luna?" One of them asked.

"Actually, I was looking for something to eat. Is there any food?"

"We can make you a sandwich if you like," another offered.

"That wouldn't be necessary. Show me the ingredients, and I'll whip it up," Arya said, smiling. "And can one of you show me where the coffee is kept. I really need some."

The servants looked at each other, then at their Luna. They were all used to doing things for everyone, especially the alfa and luna.

"I know what you're thinking, but I love cooking. You won't get into trouble," Arya said, sensing the tension.

"But luna..."

"Ok, I want to eat a sandwich, but I'll make coffee myself. I don't like others making coffee for me."

The servants sighed in relief. One of them showed her where the coffee was kept, and the other started to prepare the sandwich.

"Mmm. This is so delicious," Arya said before taking another bite of her chicken and egg sandwich.

"Thank you, luna," the servant who made the sandwich said.

'Aria, where are you?' Alfa mindlinked.

'Kitchen. Eating a sandwich.'

'We're waiting for you; the elders of the council. Come here!'

Arya stood up, took the last bite of her breakfast, and then went towards the sitting room, coffee in one hand.

She drank while walking and finished the cup before reaching the meeting.

Everyone was sitting on the sofa, discussing something. Every elder she saw the day before sat there.

Arya bowed and sat on the seat reserved for her, beside her mate.

Elder Franklin looked straight at Arya. "Luna Aria, I asked you a question yesterday. Let me repeat that question, If there would be one werewolf who you could wish death upon, who would he be and why?"

Arya took a deep breath and felt Alfa's hand on hers. She looked at Alfa, her mate. He nodded.

Arya looked back at elder Franklin and, without hesitating, answered, "Kane." There was silence. Arya kept staring at the elder as she continued, "During his time as the alfa, he conquered many packs, including my father's; the Moonstone pack. He is the reason I never got to know my father's family. He is also the reason I couldn't come to my grandpa's funeral. He is the reason I never knew who I truly was, a werewolf. He is the reason my family lived in fear all these years. If I were to wish death upon someone, it would be old alfa Kane," Arya said, her eyes still on Franklin.

The elder who didn't say his name slowly stood. "Aria, what is it about your fathers family that you want to know about?"

"Everything," Arya said, turning to look at him. "Despite having so much power, why couldn't the pack be saved? What was so threatening about that pack that Alfa Kane had to wipe out everyone? Who were their alies, and why couldn't they all stand up to Alfa Kane? How can the werewolf council allow a werewolf to alie with a vampire without banning him? Should I continue?" Arya asked, staring him straight in his brown eyes.

She didn't know who this guy was or who he thought he was, but he was really getting on her nerves. In reality, all the elders were.

She also wanted to know who her parents were, their personality, and their interests... she wanted to meet her paternal grandparents, know about them. Learn from them.

"No. We have heard enough."

"Thank you. Is there any other questions? Arya asked, as the elder sat back down.

"You also blame the council for not stopping elder Kane?" Someone asked, but Arya mind stopped at what her last two words were 'elder Kane.'

Kane was in the council. A member.
