Chapter 2 - Taking the First Steps

"Do you remember what happened?"

Liu Feiyang closed his eyes. The screeching tires, the drunk driver's glazed eyes, the green signal ignored. And before that—his sister Yan'er smiling on the hospital bed after a year in coma, his hands trembling as he held the university acceptance letter.

His voice was low. "Yeah. I remember everything."

She looked at him for a long time, then spoke. "You did well. You carried your sister's burden, survived alone, studied by day and worked by night. You gave everything for her happiness. And now..."

The void shimmered slightly as if reality itself was holding its breath.

"I want to give you a choice, Liu Feiyang."

She raised a hand and space twisted behind her. A projection appeared—vast mountains, strange stars, ancient temples, flying cultivators, spirit beasts roaring beneath blood-red moons.

"Doesn't this look familiar?"

His eyes widened. "...That's Martial Peak."

She nodded. "Or as it's truly known: Fractured 3000 Realms"

He stared at the vision, stunned.

"It exists? That world—my favorite manhua—it's real?"

'Also, what does she mean by fractured?'

"In a way," she said. "Almost exactly how you remember it. Same principles, same trials, same opportunities. But there are... elements never written, truths hidden in its very origin. The story you've read was just one layer. The reality is deeper. And broken."

"Broken?"

"Yes," she said. "The Fractured 3000 Worlds is not the way it was supposed to be—far from it. It is just a small fragment of what could have been. You will discover everything when the time comes."

"You get two wishes. But they must be within the confines of that world."

He didn't even blink. "The first one—I want my sister Yan'er to live a full, happy life. I am dead but she is still alive, and just woke up from her coma. She has her whole life ahead of her, and I cannot watch her struggle like I did, not after loosing 4 years of her precious life. She deserves happiness."

The administrator closed her eyes, lips barely moving. "Granted. But you still get two wishes, Liu Feiyang."

He blinked. "I just used one."

"That was not a wish for yourself. The rules permit two personal requests." Impressed by the character and nature of our protagonist, she decided to reward him in this form.

He took a breath. "Then... I want a system. One that lets me learn, adapt, and fuse martial skills and secret techniques from any style."

"Too greedy," she chuckled. "I will allow it, but only for martial arts and secret techniques from the opponents you have defeated. It won't work on bloodlines, divine souls, or other gifts."

"That's fine."

"Very well. But... I've added another feature. You'll uncover it when the time is right."

"Second wish..." He paused, thinking deeply. "I want the most powerful bloodline and talent in that world."

"You can't have both. In your manhua, they're used interchangeably, but in that world, they're not the same."

"Bloodline it is then. I'll grow my own talent."

She smiled. "Granted."

Before the light could take him, Liu Feiyang turned, his voice unsteady.

"Can I… can I see her one last time?"

The Administrator's gaze softened, her hand waving gently through the space between worlds. A shimmering portal opened beside them, revealing a quiet orphanage room.

Inside, his younger sister was lying on her hospital window, looking towards the window. Hopeful. Still waiting.

"She's been waiting for you," the Administrator whispered. "She doesn't know you'll never return. But don't worry. A kind couple, unable to have children of their own, will soon adopt her. They'll give her the life you always wanted for her."

Liu Feiyang started, clenched his fists, heart cracking, eyes fixed on her small figure. His eyes glistened slightly, but no tears fell. Just a deep ache behind them. "Thank you... for letting me see her, for one last time."

The Administrator nodded, but her expression turned unreadable. "Whether it's truly the last time… depends on you."

"What?" he asked, turning sharply. "What do you mean by—"

But before he could finish, the sky above cracked open, and a brilliant column of light struck him. His words died in his throat as his body began to dissolve into glowing particles, rising toward the light like a river reversing upstream.

"It's time."

His breath caught. For a moment, grief and confusion clouded his eyes—then, slowly, he smiled.

A second chance… 'I will find it on my own.'

And then he was gone.

She remained alone in the void, gazing upward with something between hope and grief.

"Nothing was ever a mistake," she whispered to herself. "It was just... the least cruel way to tell him. That his destiny was never to stay."

She looked toward the fading trails of his soul. "Maybe this one... will not only inherit my Master's strength... but his character too."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When he opened his eyes again, everything was clear—both his past life and this one had merged.

Suddenly, a blue screen flickered before him and he sat up to check it out.

[System Activated]

His breath hitched. "FOUR!?"

[Affirmative.]

He blinked at the screen in disbelief, then moved on. "System, How did i get four of them when i was only promised one? And what are they?"

[Searching...]

[No Information Detected.]

"Well, who am I to complain for getting more? But there must be a reason behind it too. For now, explain the features."

[Feature Explanation: Fusion]

[This system allows you to copy, absorb, and merge secret arts and techniques from opponents you defeat, outside those which are dependent on Special Physique or Bloodlines. The system will only activate if the opponent is defeated in combat. Techniques will not transfer if the opponent surrenders willingly, dies by another hand or if the system deems that the host did not contribute enough in opponent's defeat.]

[It's limitations are

1. If the system recognizes the techniques as incompatible then there will be drop in the grade of the resulting technique based on the degree of incompatibility.

2. If the techniques used for the fusion have difference in grade then the grade of the resulting technique will be more towards the lower one to maintain the stability and efficiency of the fused technique.

3. Combining techniques of the same grade will not result in a enhancement of the grade of the technique but improvement in other aspects such as versatility, flexibility, efficiency etc.

4. Requirements such as bloodline, special physiques or gender might also be applied on the resulting techniques but it can be removed during the fusion process if the host wished it though it might result in a drop of grade, efficiency or power of the resulting technique.

5. You can only acquire one secret art or technique from your opponent, based on your choice. Defeating the same person twice will result nothing.

6. You cannot perform more than two operation on a single technique.]

'Yup, she really did try her best to make sure I won't abuse it. Heh, but it's not like I can still do everything I have in my mind. Moving on to the the Map.'

Another window opened.

[Map: Activated. It leads the host to any minute energy signals released by owned/unowned treasures, rare materials, hidden inheritances, and secret cultivation locations within a certain range tracked by the system depending on the strength of the host.]

"So, its range can be increased, huh?"

'I don't know that I shouldn't be cocky but this world might just be cake walk for me. Hehe' He laughed inwardly at how lucky he was.

Still catching his breath, Liu Feiyang remembered the most important question and asked, "System... what happened to the original owner of this body?"

[You are the original owner. The previous memories were suppressed, not overwritten. You merely reclaimed yourself.]

A wave of relief passed through him. "So I didn't steal some innocent's life..."

He laid down on the bed again, taking in the reality of his new world, smiling. He was really happy about his second life, because unlike the saying of his previous world, the possibility were truly endless.

He raised his hand towards the ceiling. "I can have anythingggg. Literally anything I want, if only I can work hard for it, and even then I will be having a incomparable advantage above all others, huh? Fascinating."

He then suddenly stoop up and looked around the room, trying to find something to write with.

"I need to record everything I remember from the manhua before I forget anything."

[Basic Feature Enabled: Memo]

A notebook icon appeared on the screen.

[Recording started. Please begin input.]

Liu Feiyang smiled faintly, then sat cross-legged on his bed.

"Alright, let's start with the major arcs… I can't afford to forget even a single piece."
