Chapter 1 - World of Remnant: Cyberware

?: Humanity continues to grow despite it's harsh environments and it's hostile attitude to the Grimm and to their fellows...In the past when Dust first arose; Humans began to use it in their weapons and their clothing but as the age continued and their ability to enhance their technology expanded, it opened up into something new: Cybernetics…

Man-Made enhancements used and implanted into a person's body to augment whatever they could, it all started as a method of prosthesis and to allow humans to work how they normally would but with Atlas being the forefront of their technology, it allowed individuals to enhance themselves without the need for Dust or for Semblances; Specialised eyes to act as scopes, reinforced tendons to allow Huntsmen and Huntresses to maneuver greater distances in both height and speed but it's greatest achievement was an accidental one.

By allowing their technology to excel further into manipulating people's minds and the technological world around it to act as their own puppets; Some noblehearted individuals would act as heroes to rescue others from trapped buildings and for soldiers to help in the events of a Grimm attack…While the less scrupulous would manipulate others for money or power. It makes no difference at all, in the end...

That avarice and ambition good or bad, that higher climb to be a legend will drive anyone insane and destroy each other.

Ozpin: Atlas was always the forefather of technological advancements: The CCT Towers that spread communication globally, the development of robotics and the eventual branch off into the uncharted territory of Cybernetics.

This latest achievement was what made both the Atlas Military and the Schnee Dust & Cybernetics Company into the most prolific of Cybersoftware. They were able to incorporate everything to make the way of life for the modern person more palatable; Whether it was the simplicity of a Cyberdeck to incorporate luxuries like Scroll communications and being able to become more savvy by hacking into technology without the need of a console like in prior times.

Over time and with the more that Cyberware became widespread across Remnant, it became a regular occurrence that some of the more younger applicants to become Huntsmen and Huntresses will be equipped with some form of Cyberware or a specially upgraded weapon to coincide with their enhancements. It may aid against the Grimm but for how long? Because too much of anything can turn even the most sweet fruit into a horrific poison…And how long until no one on the planet will remain Human?

Qrow: Cyberware? Heh, you certainly know the right things to ask about. Atlas always had to be the first ones out of the gate and when the first bouts of Cyberware started to go around, everyone was happy to have the entire world at their fingertips in a much easier way than a Scroll could provide.

There isn't a single person in the main kingdoms who hasn't gotten the chrome dip to keep up with everyone else; You need a hand with defense if an Aura Shield can't cut it? Get some Nano-Plating, You could go the musclehead road and implant a pair of Gorilla Arms on your body…Or if you're the more hedonistic type, you could slip a few extra lien to your local ripperdoc and get some downstairs hardware to make your...Anyway, moving on.

The big kicker about this is that one thing everyone seems to forget about these days is tolerance; An average person could fit a booster or a stronger set of lungs and it'd do no harm but you let too much of that stuff pile up inside of you and bam!

You either short circuit your body or you become a prime target for the law as a CyberPsycho when your brain turns into an overcooked pile of grey matter, though don't worry about that too much: The SDCC always prides itself to make sure that never happens, they've got the right people to come see you when it does.

The world of Cyber-Tech continues to grow and you will always hear whisperings about new projects and secret new tech from both above and below the retail line…Though I'd take that with a grain of salt; Putting too much cyberstuff in your system will roll the dice on your body but the theoretical stuff you hear about in Ripperdoc rooms? You'd be surprised no one fully fried their brain yet…Or turned full Cyber.
