"What UN?"
Two words. Quiet. Certain.
"There will be no UN after today."
Silva's voice carried the weight of absolute conviction.
"Do you know why the United Nations was really created, Dr. Varen?" He didn't wait for an answer. "Not to save the world. Not for peace or cooperation or humanity's advancement. Those are pretty lies we tell ourselves."
His expression hardened.
"The UN was founded so the victors of World War Two could legitimize their dominance. So the Allied powers could control global resources, dictate international law, and call it justice. A framework for the powerful to remain powerful while pretending equality."
He gestured dismissively.
"Every international body, every treaty, every agreement... they exist to manage competition between predators. To prevent total war while ensuring advantage for those already on top. Charity has nothing to do with it."
Silva's eyes glinted.
