Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: Land of Snow

"So much killing intent!"

It seemed the Land of Snow wasn't just home to White Zetsu—it also concealed many experts. This place was nothing like a sparsely populated country.

Ye Liang looked off into the distance, hardly able to believe his senses.

In recent years, he'd taken numerous bounty missions, developing an acute sensitivity to even the faintest traces of murderous intent. The killing aura in the Land of Snow couldn't simply be described as "much"—even calling it an ocean wouldn't be an exaggeration.

"Miss Kazahana," Ye Liang suddenly asked, "may I ask if there's any important festival coming up in your country recently?"

"A festival? Oh right! Long ago, our nation was often invaded by thieves. Later, a group of samurai defeated them, and the king established an annual martial festival called [Shang Wu Jie] (Martial Valor Festival) every autumn in gratitude. It's almost that time again now."

"[Shang Wu Jie]?"

Ye Liang's eyes flickered slightly. If that were the case, it made more sense.

Most ninja relied on chakra as their foundation and generally didn't emit killing intent themselves. But samurai were different—they refined killing intent to enhance their sword techniques!

If a large group of samurai had gathered here in the Land of Snow, then all this killing aura would finally make sense.

"All right, I've got it. Let's get moving!" Ye Liang returned to his seat inside the carriage.

Soon, they arrived at the Land of Snow.

Before them stood towering city gates carved with [Qilin] statues.

Before they could even enter, a line of soldiers marched out, led by a general.

"Let go of Princess Kasuka, or the soldiers of Snow shall execute you immediately!" The commanding general blocked the carriage path directly, looking fierce and imposing. Without waiting for Ye Liang to explain, he immediately issued orders.

"Click!"

A row of weapons was drawn.

"Oh geez, Miss Kazahana, seems like your country's hospitality leaves a lot to be desired," Ye Liang, serving temporarily as the coach driver, remarked awkwardly.

Kasuka Kazahana stepped out of the carriage.

"Lay down your arms! Master Ye Liang rescued me—he is our honored guest and must not be treated disrespectfully!" she commanded sharply.

After all, Ye Liang's power spoke for itself.

He had single-handedly wiped out an entire Iwagakure Village—a feat no force in the Land of Snow could ever hope to match.

Kasuka deeply respected Ye Liang—before him, she hadn't dared so much as breathe loudly.

"Princess, these are extraordinary times. Our borders frequently suffer invasions from those white freaks. Even though he is your savior, everyone must still undergo inspection," the general immediately argued back.

"You!" Kasuka almost choked. Her royal status as a princess had just been openly defied—how intolerable!

"Forget it. If you insist on checking, we'll cooperate," Ye Liang waved dismissively.

"But Master Ye Liang, how could you allow yourself to be humiliated like this?"

"No problem. I don't hold grudges."

"Grudges?"

Kasuka blinked in confusion—had she just misheard?

The soldiers who approached Ye Liang after seeing his cooperation carried themselves like hardened veterans, but the moment they got close, a sudden chill crept across their necks.

What was going on?

The soldiers felt a chill run through them. As they had just passed Ye Liang, it was as if they had brushed past an ice cellar.

Must've been an illusion.

The lead general approached—he was a city gate commander who had long been overlooked by the Land of Snow. Now with White Zetsu's attack, he immediately seized the chance to assert his authority.

Take today for instance—he had just put the princess in her place!

Haha.

Once she learned her lesson today, tomorrow he'd show her who truly held power.

A sinister grin spread across the lead general's face.

"What's going on? Why are we stopping?" Deidara stepped out from the carriage, clearly displeased.

"Hey, who are you exactly? Got a problem?" He eyed the advancing general and questioned.

The latter nearly collapsed in fear!

"N-No... nothing at all!"

The general, previously lost in lewd fantasies, was now shaking in terror.

"So terrifying! This kid doesn't even look that strong, yet he exudes such horrifying killing intent!" The general's heart pounded wildly.

The people of the Land of Snow didn't judge by ordinary standards. Practicing the Way of the Samurai made them highly sensitive to murderous intent—especially what they sensed coming from Deidara.

Before their eyes appeared the faint silhouette of a giant white bird hovering behind him!

Such might likely rivaled even their national War Chief!

"Nothing really. Just wanted to check who else is on your carriage?"

The general chuckled awkwardly.

"Then this is for me?"

Suddenly sticking his head out from inside the carriage was Itachi Uchiha. He peered out with a vacant gaze, asking blankly.

"No one! There's absolutely no one else!"

The general panicked again.

Itachi Uchiha was even more formidable!

Judging roughly, his murderous intent equated to at least two War Chiefs—utterly shocking!

Behind Itachi emerged the ghostly outline of a grinning red skeleton, faintly looming over the soldiers.

A demon!

Good heavens! Where did the Princess find these people?!

All soldiers simultaneously gulped audibly.

"And do you want to inspect mine too?" Ye Liang smiled while asking, easily guessing the situation from the soldiers' reactions.

"You?"

The city commander eyed Ye Liang suspiciously.

This man radiated absolutely no murderous intent whatsoever, appearing completely ordinary from afar. Yet suddenly, the general detected something amiss!

Even an average civilian inevitably bore traces of bloodshed—having slaughtered chickens or dogs during daily life, they would carry some residual killing intent.

Absolute absence was simply impossible!

Instantly realizing something was wrong, the general concluded:

This man was concealing his presence perfectly!

Such a feat could only be accomplished by someone legendary—the revered Samurai God, Mifune!

Could this person actually have reached the level of Mifune?

Suddenly feeling like he'd stumbled upon something he shouldn't have touched, the general composed his expression and slowly extended an inviting gesture toward Ye Liang.

"Honored Guest, welcome to the Land of Snow! We, the City Guards of Snow Country, will spare no effort to serve our distinguished guests. I would gladly lay down my life for you, Sir!"

With one command from him, rows of soldiers knelt before Ye Liang with deep bows.

Kasuka Kazahana standing nearby was completely stunned!

Her very own soldiers defied the princess' commands—yet bowed low before this complete outsider!

What kind of situation was this?

Kasuka had already made up her mind to return and report him to the king immediately.

The charge? Treason, maybe!

Snow fell steadily, and the Snow Capital grew restless that night.

"You know about the Martial Valor Festival? Princess Kasuka Kazahana is trying to claim the throne and actually summoned a divine samurai!"

"What? Where did you get this information?"

"One of today's City Guards is a distant cousin from my extended family."

"Reliable?"

"Guaranteed!"
