Rowen and Shade went into the Cloths Shop.
The moment they stepped inside, the atmosphere shifted.
The shop was quiet and polished and clearly catered to the upper district. Soft light reflected off clean floors and neatly arranged racks. A few customers were already inside well-dressed women and men browsing calmly.
Attention shifted quickly to Shade and Rowen.
Most of the looks settled on Shade.
She stood straight and composed, her refined features clashing with the oversized, worn clothes she wore. The contrast was impossible to miss.
Rowen and Shade stepped farther into the shop.
Before they could move more than a few steps, an attendant approached, his gaze sweeping over them once before settling on Shade's worn clothes.
"This shop serves upper-district customers," he said flatly. "If you're not here to buy, you shouldn't be inside."
Rowen felt irritation rise in his chest.
Shade shifted beside him, her expression tightening as she opened her mouth to speak.
