Mr Patton, already awake, stirred quietly, ensuring everything was in order for their grand departure. The family had prepared themselves the night before, taking long showers to save time in the morning. Now, they quickly dressed and gathered in the kitchen for a hearty breakfast.

Lady Lydia efficiently served a meal of freshly baked bread, cheese, and fruit, accompanied by steaming cups of tea. The family ate in silence, their excitement and anticipation palpable. As they finished, Mr. Patton stood, his eyes scanning the room to ensure they hadn't forgotten anything.

Alright, family, let's get moving, he said, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "We've a long journey ahead of us, three days to be exact."

With final checks complete, the Pattons set off, their caravan loaded with luggage and supplies. Mr. Patton was joined by his trusted assistant, Jasper, a skilled driver who had worked with him for many years. Together, they drove the carriage, their banter and easy camaraderie evident as they navigated the winding road.

As they journeyed, the family chatted excitedly about the wonders they would see in the city of Dartons, the mainland .

Olivia giggled with her mother about the fancy dresses they would wear to the royal gathering, while Drae and Matt stared out as they rode ahead, exploring the surrounding countryside.

Lady Lydia kept a watchful eye on the family, ensuring everyone stayed safe and happy.

Jasper, a rugged man with a kind face, proved to be a skilled storyteller, regaling the children with tales of his own adventures on the road. Mr. Patton smiled, happy to have Jasper's expertise and company on their journey, made it easy.

As the day wore on, the family stopped for lunch at a quaint roadside inn. Lady Lydia unpacked a basket of sandwiches, fruit, and cheese, while Mr. Patton and Jasper took care of the horses. The children ran about, playing games and laughing, their joy infectious.

After lunch, they continued their journey, the road unfolding before them like a ribbon. As the sun began to set, none regardless of the journey ahead the curfew in the country still stood, they arrived at a charming old guest house, where they would spend the night.

The family was delighted by the warm hospitality of the proprietor, Mrs. Jenkins, and the promise of a hearty dinner, they looked in awe and wove through the corridors in excitements.

They all settled for the night and had a quick sleep as they were to arise very early in the morning.

The next two days passed in a similar fashion, with the Pattons stopping at guest houses and inns along the way. They grew more excited with each passing mile, their anticipation building as they neared the city of Dartons.

The went in through the gate.

As the Pattons arrived at the castle, they were greeted by a group of guards in formal attire. The guards bowed respectfully and led the family through a paved path, lined with neatly manicured gardens and ornate fountains. The sound of retiring chirping birds and gentle rustling of leaves filled the air as they walked.

As they turned a corner, the Pattons saw a large courtyard filled with horses and carriages, other guests. They spotted their own caravan among the others, and Mr. Patton nodded in satisfaction. The guards led them to a designated area where they could disembark.

Mrs. Patton with Olivia, Drae, and Matt in tow followed a liveried servant through a grand entrance. They were led into a magnificent building that seemed to shine with an inner light. The fires and candles illuminated its radiance, casting a warm glow over the opulent decor.

The servant bowed low and led them to a set of rooms that seemed to stretch on forever. The Pattons' eyes widened as they took in the grandeur of their surroundings. The entire region designated to them was twice as big as their house, and they were told this was the commoners' guest house.

This is incredible, Mrs. Patton breathed, her eyes shining with wonder. I've never seen anything like it, not even as the baron's daughter, everyone turned back at her but she shooked it off seemingly as a visitation.

The servant smiled, his face creasing with pleasure. Welcome to the castle, Lady Patton. I trust you will find your accommodations satisfactory, please another would read on the guidelines of castles guests after you have relaxed. He continued, soon a pass card would be administered to the Pattons.

As the servant showed them around the rooms, the Pattons couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. The furniture was intricately carved, and the tapestries on the walls depicted scenes of hunting and feasting. The rooms were filled with the scent of fresh flowers, and the sound of soft music drifted through the corridors.

This is more than we could have ever expected, Mr. Patton said, his voice filled with gratitude. Thank you for your hospitality.

The servant bowed, his expression formal. "It's our pleasure, sir. Lord Harrington has instructed us to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. You will be attending the grand gathering tomorrow evening, and we have prepared a special dinner for you tonight. Lord Harrington was who gave the card issuer so knowingly they were under him.

As the servant departed, the Pattons explored their new surroundings. Olivia and Matt ran from room to room, laughing and squealing with delight. Drae examined the intricate carvings on the furniture, his eyes shining with curiosity, the famous architecture carved this she spoke lowly in delight, Lord Bran

Mrs. Patton smiled, watching her children with a warm heart.

I'm so glad we're here she said to Mr. Patton. This is going to be an adventure they'll never forget.

Mr. Patton nodded, his eyes filled with agreement. Indeed it is, my dear. And we're grateful for Lord Harrington's hospitality and a one time shot to take us up the ladder and you back to your pinnacle or further.

As they settled into their rooms, the Pattons couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. They knew that the next few days would be filled with wonder and adventure, and they were eager to explore the castle and its surroundings the very next morning.

The sound of a gong echoed through the corridors, signaling the start of dinner. The Pattons were escorted and given an entrance pass the made their way to the dining hall, their stomachs growling with anticipation and for Drae just pure hunger. They were led to a grand table, set with fine unique ceramics and crystal glasses.

As the night wore on, the Pattons retired to their rooms, feeling grateful and content. They knew that this was just the beginning of their adventure, and they were eager to see what the next day would bring. They couldn't wait but patience is key they say.

The next morning, the Pattons were up early, eager to explore the castle and its gardens. Mrs. Patton, Olivia, Drae and Matt followed their appointed tourist guard, Sir Edward, as he led them through the grand halls and corridors. After the first ten minutes of sight seeing and long historical stories.Drae, however, had other plans.

As they walked through the castle, Drae lagged behind, her eyes scanning the walls and furniture with a curious gaze. Suddenly, she spotted a door that seemed slightly ajar. Without hesitation, she slipped through the opening and found herself in a vast library.

The room was filled with shelves upon shelves of books, their leather bindings creaking softly as they seemed to stretch up to the ceiling. Drae's eyes widened as she breathed in the musty scent of old parchment and ink.

She felt like she had stumbled into a treasure trove. She wondered why they'd leave the Library unguarded but anyways it was their lifestyle, wandered around in awe.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Patton, Olivia, and Matt followed Sir Edward through the gardens, marveling at the beautifully manicured lawns and vibrant flowers. The sun shone brightly overhead, casting a warm glow over the scenery.

As they walked, Sir Edward pointed out various landmarks and shared stories about the castle's history. Olivia listened intently, her eyes shining with fascination. Matt, on the other hand, seemed more interested in the birds and squirrels flitting through the trees, he dashed over but no one paid him kind since he was still on sight and not ruining anything.

Mrs. Patton smiled, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and the company of her children. She was grateful for the opportunity to spend quality time with them, away from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives. Though she didn't suffer and leaves averaged, she wouldn't deny she didn't miss her maiden life.

As they explored the gardens, Mr. Patton had earlier excused himself, heading into the main city to attend to some business matters. He kissed Mrs. Patton on the cheek and promised to return soon before they all went for their tour.

Have a wonderful day, my dear, he said, smiling. I'll join you for dinner tonight.

Mrs. Patton nodded, watching as Mr. Patton disappeared into the crowd. She turned to Sir Edward and smiled. Shall we begin our tour?

Sir Edward bowed, his expression formal. Of course, Lady Patton. There's still much to see and explore.

As the day wore on, Mrs. Patton, Olivia, and Matt visited the castle's chapel, the great hall, and even the kitchens. They met the castle's staff, including the cook, who showed them the intricacies of medieval cooking.

Drae, meanwhile, remained in the library, devouring book after book. She read about history, science, and literature, her mind expanding with each new discovery. The librarian, a kind old man named Mr. Jenkins, smiled as he watched her absorb the knowledge. Not aware someone watched on at her

You're a true scholar, young lady, he said, jerking her to reality she was startled he went on to her patting her shoulder. Do not fright I'm glad to see you're making the most of our library, it's indeed unusual to see a lady in our library especially one not accompanied by a governess. I would love a new scholarly recruits that's if you are willing or guardian wishes.

She just stared on at him which he continued.

Are you mute perhaps, what is your name.

I am not mute she snapped but quickly apologized with her head bowed.

That's fine my dear, it was rude of me to assume such, you must not be from around here ?

I'm not she said deadpan, my name is Drae Patton.

Also an usual name .

That's not a country common name is that a short for something.

Thinking sharply she just said hydrangea.

Hnmmm was all the old man said, Ahh don't let me interrupt your reading, go on dear.

Looking at the man retrieve, they man was off, she couldn't place it, his iris seemed sort of slit but she pushed it as the though the stress of looking through pages.

As the sun began to set, Mrs. Patton, Olivia, and Matt returned to their quarters, tired but happy. They found Drae sitting in the common room, surrounded by books and papers.

Ah, Drae, we've been looking all over for you, Mrs. Patton said, laughing. What have you been up to, we began to worry but the guard says he saw you go to the library.

Drae looked up, her eyes shining with excitement. I've been reading, Mother. I've discovered so many wonderful books.

Mrs. Patton smiled, shaking her head. You're a true bookworm, Drae. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, hope you caused no trouble?

No was all she said and continued her reading.

Olivia rolled her eyes, I wonder if she'd become the country's diplomat or scholar, atlas she can only settle for a governess.

That's rude, yes my baby would be a great scholar

Or a measter, snorted Olivia.

Stopped that now young lady, Mr Patton arrived just in time.

As they settled in for dinner, Mr. Patton returned, looking tired but satisfied.

I've had a productive day, my dear," he said, kissing Mrs. Patton's cheek. How was your day?

Mrs. Patton smiled, her eyes sparkling. It was wonderful. The children enjoyed the tour, and I learned a lot about the castle's history. But I believe who had the most was our dear Drae, she had gathered the entire Dartons library.

Mr. Patton nodded, taking a seat at the table. Ahh that's my girl, I'm glad to hear that, ensure to return them tomorrow or whenever you are done said Mr Patton

Tomorrow we must prepare for the royal gathering on next moon which is a day after, and I'm looking forward to it, hopefully we all are.
