Kelly watched as the two abominations walked toward her.
Slowly.
Their intelligent eyes gleamed with cruelty as they studied her.
Kelly knew exactly what they were doing. They were sizing her up, looking for the quickest way to kill their prey without giving her a chance to struggle.
The crowd that had gathered held their breath. No one moved. No one spoke. No one wanted to risk drawing the attention of two Havocs. Two calamities.
But whatever composure the teenagers had managed to hold onto shattered the moment one of the monsters pulled its head back and wailed.
The air rippled. The sound alone cracked the molten ground beneath them, lava bursting out and shooting upward like a geyser.
The world burned.
It melted under a torrent of lava and sludge, turning into nothing but a wasteland of flames.
