Chapter 10 - The Start of the Payback?

[Yes,] the system replied. [Wives at that, not just a wife.]

Koul's eyes glimmered with joy, as if all he'd had to endure ever since coming here was finally being washed away.

"You should've told me that first!" He yelled, happy and mad at the system.

If I'd known I got wives, then I wouldn't have been so bitter and full of anger after what I went through, ugh.

"Wives, I can't believe I got wives!" He muttered enthusiastically, radiating happiness.

I was starting to think in the corner of my mind that it might be hard to get laid after coming here.

Plus… I lost my life trying to get laid, ugh..

Tsk! Had I gotten laid and died after, I wouldn't be so bitter!

Wait! Don't tell me… have I transmigrated into some sort of stuff where I have an harem?

His face flushed red, heated smoke already escaping his nose.

No no, that would be too good to be true. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

[What's got you so happy?] The system tore him from his thoughts.

Certain that Koul's eyes were on it, the system's eyes trailed down toward Koul's lower half, precisely in between his legs.

[It's not like you have the tools to do anything with them,] it blurted.

Koul's brow twitched, the corners of his lips creasing with tension as he contained his anger, trying not to explode at the system.

This bastard might take the top of my killing list!

But to think I've got wives… wait, just how many?

No, that shouldn't be what I worry about. I'm sure they loathe me as well. If everyone does, they sure do.

Koul battled in his mind, wanting to hold onto a little hope that his wives saw him in a different light than everyone.

But remembering what the system told him about how he got them, he plunged into a deep sea of despair.

Who am I kidding? This is just dumb! Why would people I forcefully claimed to be mine harbor any good in their hearts for me?

I'm sure as hell they loathe me the most, eeee!! His heart dropped dramatically, weighed down by the mere thought of his wives hating him.

With his head lowered and eyes closed, he exhaled aloud.

"My wives," he said. "Show me to them"

Koul's eyes darted here and there around the hallways, trying to guess which side to take to start heading to his wives.

The pain clawing at him from behind had died down due to the new emotions bubbling inside him after finding out he had wives.

But after he demanded the system show him the way, the system went silent, causing Koul to look back to it in question.

"My wives' quarters, where are they?" He asked.

[Host, their quarters aren't in this building. It's an entirely new building outside on the east of the imperial grounds,] the system revealed.

[But,] it continued before Koul could say anything.

[You aren't allowed to meet them for now.]

Koul's brow raised, a feeling of disappointment and anger building up inside him.

"And why is that?" He asked, maintaining his calm as best as he could.

[It's just like how you couldn't leave that room. You were able to leave not because your depression was cured or your problem was solved, but because you broke the rule and suffered the penalty.]

Staaaaaaaaaare.....

"So I can't see my wives?" He asked, trying to fully grasp the situation and the odd rule whatsoever.

[Host, your dos and don'ts are limited and partially decided by the higher ups,] it continued.

Yeah, by those wicked bastards.

[There are things you can't do. Places you can't go and many more. You cannot leave the palace, but there will be more flexibility as time goes on.]

Koul remained staring silently at the system, his face only reading the same question he had asked before: 'ok so, my wives?'

[As for your wives, no, you can't see them,] the system said and paused, staring at Koul as if waiting for a reaction.

But Koul simply stared, the disappointment taking place inside him.

After a moment, the system continued.

[But there's a way,] he said, igniting hope within Koul once more.

[You cannot leave the palace to go meet them, at least for now, but it's a whole another thing IF they come to see you,] the system said, emphasizing the 'if'.

Koul's new hope immediately crushed just as fast it reignited.

Sigh! Why would they come see me when they loathe me? That's out of the question and possibility.

Just as he slowly got overwhelmed with sadness and disappointment, an idea lit up in his head.

He fired his gaze toward the system, eager to speak.

"But what if I just order someone to summon them for me? The rule is that I just don't leave the palace, right? So that should be okay?" He asked, waiting impatiently for the system to respond.

[You can't,] blurted the system.

[The only allowed way is if they themselves willingly come meet you,] it informed.

A loud sigh escaped Koul, feeling all the ways blocked.

[Or…] the system continued, piquing Koul's interest and anticipation yet again.

Or….. he followed inwardly.

[If you happen to coincidentally meet them in the palace.]

For a moment, Koul's hope sparked but it died just as soon.

"Do they even come to the palace? Why would they come? Tsk!" He clicked his tongue in irritation and resumed walking.

"At lest tell me how many they are," he said to the system floating alongside him.

[That, I cannot tell, host. As I don't have the accurate number.]

"Tsk! You're so useless!" He cussed and swung his arm to the side toward the system, intending to hit it.

And surprisingly, the system with a round shape akin to a cctv camera, fit right into his palm.

Koul paused, turning to look at the system in his grasp, slowly tightening his grip.

I can touch it?!

His mind immediately swarmed with his previous thoughts about starting his payback with the system.

This is a chance! If I could just…

His eyes lit up, darting between the system and the wall.
