Chapter 30 - “Burning Mercy”

> "He touched what belonged to me.

Now I'll touch what keeps him breathing."

—Boss

---

The city was burning—and it wasn't just metaphorical.

The first building belonged to a man who once did business with Boss's uncle. The second? A secret warehouse used to store surveillance tapes. Now ash.

Boss moved like death in a tailored suit—methodical, furious, relentless. His uncle's name was already a curse in his mouth, and now, everyone tied to that man was a walking target.

Nick tried reasoning. "If you keep this up, there'll be a body count so high even your father won't be able to clean it up."

Boss didn't flinch. "Let him try. Let them all try."

Sea's Side…

Sea woke up again, cold sweat clinging to his skin. His body ached—bruises marked his ribs and wrists. His mouth tasted like blood and metal. The ropes had cut his skin.

There were no windows.

But there were voices.

Two men arguing outside the door.

"Why is he still alive?"

"The boss said he's valuable. A message."

"Then why isn't he broken yet?"

Sea's heart pounded. Valuable. For who? He tried to crawl closer to the crack under the door, but his legs gave out. He sobbed quietly. Not from fear… but from how much he missed him.

"Boss…" he whispered. His voice cracked like shattered glass.

---

Elsewhere…

Boss stood in front of his uncle's estate. Smoke trailed from the lit cigarette between his lips, but he wasn't smoking—it was just there, burning, like him.

His uncle came out, confused. "What the hell are you doing here—"

He didn't finish the sentence.

Boss stepped forward, eyes wild and animalistic. He held a gun, but he didn't raise it—he didn't need to. His presence was the weapon.

"Where is he?"

"I have no idea what you're talking—"

Boss grabbed him by the throat, slamming him against the marble wall. "I buried better men for less."

His uncle's face turned pale. "I-It wasn't me! I just ordered surveillance, not this! I swear—!"

Boss let go.

Then shot him in the leg.

"Wrong answer."

---

Meanwhile, at school…

Everyone had heard the rumors.

Boss Park went rogue.

Someone took his pretty boy, and now hell was paying interest.

Some girls whispered that Sea ran away. Others said he was sold. One thing was clear:

The Devil was hunting.
