Chapter 23 - Devil's Whispers

The whispers began before the first bell rang.

A rumor spreading like fire soaked in gasoline.

"Boss threatened his own uncle in public."

"It was because of that scholarship boy."

"He lost it completely—there were witnesses."

"I heard his uncle was trembling."

"They said he nearly pissed himself!"

By midday, the entire school was drowning in the heat of it. Students stared at Sea like he was some kind of forbidden fruit dipped in poison. Teachers exchanged glances in the staff room. Even the janitor paused and asked, "Is that the boy the devil is obsessed with?"

Sea walked the hallways like a ghost, shoulders heavy with the weight of curiosity and judgement. His name rolled off everyone's tongue like a curse and a prayer at the same time.

He wanted to disappear.

He wanted Boss to disappear.

And just when things couldn't get worse—

Boss's aunt stormed into the school.

Wearing designer heels sharp enough to kill and sunglasses too expensive for daylight, she walked into the principal's office like she owned the building.

She didn't knock.

She didn't ask.

She demanded.

> "I want to know why the heir of this family is threatening his uncle over some... random boy! I want names. I want details. I want blood!"

The principal tried to speak, but she shushed him like he was her personal assistant.

> "Where's the boy? Sea, right? The delicate little distraction."

"He's ruining my nephew. That boy is either very dangerous or very dumb."

The secretary swore she heard her mutter something about "getting rid of him quietly."

And then, quietly, another storm brewed.

Boss's parents were informed.

His mother, refined and quiet, paled at the news. His father, however—stone-faced and boiling inside—sent only one message:

> "If your son can't control himself, maybe we'll have to control the situation instead."

But Boss? Boss didn't care.

He didn't deny it.

He didn't hide.

He looked straight at the camera in the school's hallway—dead center—and smirked.

Like he knew they were watching.

Like he wanted them to watch.

Like a devil ready for war.
