'A follow up quest?'
Axton looked at the blacksmith and nodded. He was interested.
Who wouldn't be?
How else was he going to get stronger in the game?
"I'm glad that you are interested," Iron Buck said. "The hunter needs help with a problem that has disturbed him for a while."
'The hunter?' Axton thought, still confused.
"Since you are interested, I will contact him on your behalf."
Axton was still shrouded in confusion with everything that Iron Buck was saying.
The blacksmith said some words but none of it made sense to him.
The mystery surrounding this follow up quest made him second guess his decision of taking it up but it was already late for changing of mind.
Iron Buck excused himself briefly and came back a few minutes later with a paper in his hand.
On it were some details, including how he would find the location of this hunter person.
Axton thanked him and left.
On stepping out of Iron Buck's shop, the first thing that Axton did was to find a secluded place to sit and look at the new Grade 3 items that he had gained from completing the blacksmith's quest.
One after the other he removed the items from his backpack as they shone with elegance and power.
…
[Enchantment Armour]
Grade : 3
Perk : Defense +10
Skill : [Enchantment]
…
Axton's eyes grew extra wide.
He got another skill in addition to the basic skill that practically every player had.
His heart was filled with excitement as soon as he noticed the [Enchantment] skill glaring at him.
*Click*
Axton impatiently clicked the [Enchantment] skill to see what it had to offer him.
…
[Enchantment]
Skill Grade : 3 Star (Lv. 1)
Description : Releases mana that spreads across a 5 meter radius to enchant anyone that is caught within it. Enchanted victims are immobilized for 30 seconds. (Cool down : 1 minute)
Drawback : Consumes 5 mana points to use.
…
"That's a fire skill though," Axton pointed out, "...as long as I have mana, that is."
With the [Enchantment] skill in his arsenal now, Axton had stepped up above a greater percentage of players in New Eden.
******
There are three known methods of acquiring skills in New Eden.
The first method was to do quests and gain skill books as rewards for a job well done.
The second method also tied back to do quests but not absolutely. It majorly had to do with gaining items that granted skills just like the [Enchantment Armour], either through quests or on one's own.
This method came with a restriction as only items of Grade 3 and above can grant skills but that was still not a guarantee.
The last but not least was through monster drops of skill books.
Just like items, skills in New Eden are also graded into 12 ranks.
Basic, 1 star, 2 star, 3 star, 4 star, 5 star, 6 star, 7 star, Legendary, Mythical, Sacred and finally, Divine.
Items or weapons had the possibility of granting a skill of corresponding rank to the item. For example, a legendary item has the probability of granting a legendary skill, even though this was also not a guarantee.
"Enchanted victims are immobilized for 30 seconds," Axton read out an excerpt in the skill's description.
"A skill that makes an enemy not move for almost a minute is crazy overpowered! I guess I hit the jackpot with this one!"
[Battle God] can help him increase his attack power but it was not an omnipotent skill as it had his own weaknesses too.
Regardless of how strong [Battle God] made him, it offered no advantage to his HP or his defense, meaning that Axton was still vulnerable if an enemy's attack managed to hit him.
Now, with [Enchantment], he was gradually building a plan against that weakness.
He thought of the possible ways he could apply [Enchantment] in actual battle and a smile unknowingly crept up his face.
…
[Flash Sword]
Grade : 3
Perks : Attack +15, Agility +1 (Additional agility perks when using sword skill)
Skill : [Flash Sword Attack]
…
Axton had received yet another skill with his flash sword weapon.
…
[Flash Sword Attack]
Skill Grade : 3 Star (Lv. 1 )
Description : Allows you to attack a target at 3x your speed for 30 seconds. (Cool down : 1 minute)
Drawback : Consumes 5 mana points to execute.
…
The [Flash Sword Attack] was also a powerful skill from what he read.
With his attack having climbed to about 11 points since entering level 2, an additional 15 points to attack stats was not a small rise.
Just at level 1 rank of the skill, it was already giving more than Axton's base attack stats.
With an additional speed perk as well, it made certain that Axton would deliver death swiftly.
…
[Speed Boots]
Level : 1
Perk : Agility +10
Skill : [Flash Step]
…
[Flash Step]
Skill Grade : 3 Star (Lv. 1)
Description : Allows you move at a speed of 200% your base speed for about 30 seconds. (Cool down : 1 minute)
Drawback : Consume 5 mana points.
…
Axton's heart finally gave in to the pressure and skipped several beats as he finalised his read on the skills.
There was no way this was legal!
Axton was sure that if other players heard this or saw his character layout, they would think he was cheating.
With [Flash Step], his agility could reach 24, meaning that he could take on people or monsters a few levels above him despite being just a level 2 player.
He was extremely excited!
Despite not having boosted his agility stats when he leveled up, Axton would not need to worry about that anymore with [Flash Sword Attack] and [Flash Step] coming to his rescue.
However, in all this overpowered aura of his, Axton still had one major obstacle that stood against him.
The giant wall called Mana.
Warriors did not basically rely on mana and because of that, when compared to a class like mages, warriors had lower mana levels.
If he didn't have enough mana to execute all these skills, he was no different from the normal players around him.
He would have to find a way to circumvent this loophole.
