Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Hunter

Coruscant, Sith Temple

The Seventh Sister and the Fifth Brother bowed their heads toward a holographic projection. The entire room was filled with heavy breathing.

"Huff—ha! Huff—ha!" The heavy breathing sounded like the footsteps of death approaching a dying heart time and again.

"Useless trash! I no longer see the meaning of your existence! Your use of the dark side of the Force is a desecration!" The Sith Lord's ruthless words echoed from the projector.

The two dared not utter a word in response.

"Master, during this mission, we encountered a Force user wielding a lightsaber!"

The Seventh Sister couldn't help but speak up.

"A Force user? Hmph! Even a random Force user could make you look so pathetic. You were trained to eliminate them!"

"I'm sorry, Lord Vader! We also found evidence of a Force user on Tatooine. Please let us make up for this failure!"

"Remember your fear, Imperial Inquisitors. Otherwise, I will personally help you remember it slowly!"

The communication was cut off, and the holographic projection vanished from the room.

The Seventh Sister clenched her teeth and let out a furious growl.

"Let's go to Tatooine."------Lango used a crane to lift a large container off the ship and slowly lowered it to the ground.

He strained his ears, listening carefully. It sounded like a beast was growling inside the container.

That's strange. Is someone transporting a monster to Coruscant? Could it be a pet for the upper class?

You city folks sure know how to have fun. If I were you, I'd definitely get a fluffy one.

A loud bang interrupted Lango's daydream. The contents of the container were hitting the walls!

Lango turned his head to look at the owners of the cargo. They were several Trandoshan warriors. He suddenly remembered what Amir had often said about lizards. Those creatures with reptile-like heads must be what he meant by lizards! Why did they call me a lizardman?

Something was wrong!

The Trandoshans behind him heard the noise, exchanged glances, and raised their electric batons, closing in on him.

Lango's hand slowly moved toward the inside of his shirt.

In an instant, several real lizardmen moved and activated their electric batons. The air was filled with the sound of electricity.

Lango pulled the thermal cutting dagger that Amir had given him out from under his shirt. The blade of the dagger was filled with red electricity, giving it a high temperature. If moved slowly, it could cut through ordinary alloys.

Gripping the dagger in his right hand, Lango lowered his center of gravity, his skin turning red.

Six Trandoshan warriors charged at Lango, swinging their electric batons. These lizard men were natural hunters who loved to hunt. Some even bought slaves to keep in their private hunting grounds for hunting games.

Now, Lango had become their prey.

"Since you noticed something unusual, I'm afraid I'll have to apologize."

Facing the swarm, Lango leaped onto the container to break free, then charged toward the weakest point of the encirclement.

There were two lizard-men in that direction. Lango lunged toward the weaker-looking one, his dagger emitting an intimidating red glow.

Seeing Lango's relentless charge, the lizard man hesitated momentarily. He stiffened and swung his electric baton forward, but Lango dodged the blow and slashed his dagger across the lizard man's wrist.

"Chi—"

The lizard man's right hand fell to the ground, along with the electric baton.

The other lizard man took advantage of the situation, lunging toward Lango and nearly stabbing him in the stomach with the baton.

Lango dodged the attack with a quick backflip and fled.

The lizard men were no longer in sight. It was a pity that he hadn't received his reward yet. Lango sighed helplessly.

He walked to the container at the exit, bypassed it, and left the rented port, finally safe. There were imperial patrol teams on duty outside; no one dared cause trouble under the empire's nose.

Just as he passed the container, an electric baton suddenly darted out from a crack and pierced his calf. In an instant, the current capable of paralyzing giant beasts surged through his body.

Lango stumbled and fell to the ground.

Looking at the twitching Farlin man, the Trandoshan who had ambushed him laughed and said, "A top-tier hunter must learn to hide!"

The surrounding lizardmen echoed his words.------Amir slowly regained consciousness, his mind clearing as he found himself in the simple yet comfortable cabin of a spaceship.

He climbed to his feet, stepped out the door, and saw Veronica emerge from the adjacent room.

"I thought you'd take the spaceship and bring me to join the rebels."

"Hmph, not for now," Veronica said, turning her head away. "Jax sent you a message. You should go back."

"Alright."

Amir left the spaceship, mounted his cola, and headed down to the lower levels. It was still early morning, and the area around the port was sparsely populated.

He took a detour to the area where Lango usually hung out, but he didn't see Lango.

Back at the shop, Pierre was still repairing the machines as usual. They hadn't noticed anything about yesterday's riot.

The terrifying thing about the empire was that they controlled all media and books. The citizens under their rule could only know what the empire wanted them to know.

Any negative news about the Empire was strictly censored. Over the past decade, the empire had gone to great lengths to erase the existence of the Jedi Order. Now, most people had forgotten what the Jedi looked like and knew only that they were traitors convicted of treason.

In the Inner Ring, the core area, people just wanted to live peacefully. This was also the area the Empire controlled most tightly, with no pirate threats or riots. People did indeed live relatively securely.

Additionally, the Empire constantly broadcast videos and audio of its military suppressing rebellions in other regions. Through brainwashing, the Empire made the residents develop a strong sense of trust in it.

Amir thought of Kaiyin again.

Like Kaiyin, who had also grown up on Coruscant, Amir felt a strong sense of belonging to the Empire before joining the military. As a child, he dreamed of becoming an Imperial pilot.

However, after entering the Imperial Academy, Amir learned of the Empire's atrocities on the Outer Rim planets, and the truth gradually came to light.

The Empire had slaughtered entire races for resources and treated species like the Wookiees as slaves for centuries.

Kaiyin began to doubt the Empire, but the indoctrination he had received since childhood was difficult to shake. He still clung to the fantasy that, after graduating, he could go to the Outer Rim to help eliminate pirates and criminals.

Amir knew these were nothing but fantasies. Under his influence, the largest slave trader, Jabba, collaborated with the Empire, and there might be their hideouts on Coruscant.

Though he bore some responsibility, Kaiyin ultimately defected.
