Chapter 9: Of Green Goliaths and Global Escapes
The news cycle, ever hungry for the next big thing, had quickly moved on from Iron Man to the elusive "Green Goliath." Bruce Banner. Adam watched the grainy footage of the Hulk's rampages, the frantic reports of military pursuits, and General Ross's perpetually furious face. "Poor Bruce. Can't a guy just get a quiet cup of coffee without turning into a giant rage monster? And Ross… he's like a dog with a bone, but the bone is a gamma-irradiated scientist."
May, ever the compassionate one, looked concerned. "It's so sad, isn't it? That poor man, constantly on the run. He just wants to be left alone."
"Indeed, May," Adam agreed, nodding sagely. "But General Ross seems to have a different opinion. He seems to think the best way to help a giant green rage monster is to… make him even angrier. Brilliant strategy, really. Top-tier military thinking."

A System alert flickered. [MISSION ALERT: AID BRUCE BANNER'S EVASION FROM MILITARY FORCES AND PREVENT UNTIMELY CAPTURE. REWARD: 600 WISH DAYS. ACCEPT?]
"Six hundred wish days? For helping a guy avoid a perpetually angry general? That's a steal. And honestly, it's just good karma. Plus, the pranks I can pull on Ross… oh, the possibilities."
"Accept," Adam thought, a mischievous glint in his eye.
The news showed a military convoy, heavy with tanks and Humvees, tearing through a bustling city street, clearly in pursuit of Banner.
"Too fast, Ross. You're going to cause a pile-up. Or, rather, I am."
[WISH GRANTED: BRUCE BANNER'S ESCAPE VEHICLE ENCOUNTERS UNEXPECTED GREEN LIGHT AT EVERY INTERSECTION. COST: 25 WISH DAYS.]
On the news, a beat-up taxi, presumably carrying Bruce, zipped through a series of green lights, seemingly defying the laws of urban traffic. Behind it, the military convoy hit a string of red lights, screeching to a halt with a chorus of angry honks. Ross, visible in the lead Humvee, slammed his fist on the dashboard.
"He's getting away! How is he hitting every green light?!" Ross bellowed.
Adam chuckled. "Because the universe, General, is on Bruce's side. Or at least, I am."
Later, a report came in about a remote surveillance operation. General Ross was on a data tablet, reviewing feeds, looking utterly focused.
"Let's give him a little something to remember this chase by."
[WISH GRANTED: GENERAL ROSS'S DATA TABLET TEMPORARILY FREEZES ON A PICTURE OF A KITTEN. COST: 15 WISH DAYS.]
Ross, mid-sentence about "containment protocols," suddenly stopped, staring at his tablet. The grim tactical map had been replaced by a fluffy, wide-eyed kitten wearing a tiny knitted hat. Ross blinked. He shook the tablet. He tapped it. The kitten remained, staring serenely.
"What in the…?! My tactical display! It's… it's a cat! A kitten! With a hat!" Ross roared, his face turning an even deeper shade of crimson. His aides exchanged bewildered glances.
Adam snickered, earning a curious look from May. "What's so funny, dear?"
"Oh, just thinking about how sometimes, the most serious situations can be… unexpectedly adorable," Adam said, trying to keep a straight face.
May smiled, shaking her head. "You're a strange one, Adam. But I suppose that's why I like you."
Adam leaned back, content. He was helping Bruce, annoying Ross, and keeping May amused. All in a day's work for a sarcastic, wish-granting landlord. "Next up, the grand finale. Harlem. And a very angry, very green, very large problem."
