Chapter 1 - The Emberstone Ceremony

In this world, everything changes the day you turn fifteen.

Not because of age, or tradition, or law — but because of the Emberstone Ceremony.

Every child, on their fifteenth birthday, is brought before the Emberstone. It's the moment that decides the rest of their life. The moment their future is locked in, forever.

They place their hand on the stone… and it glows.

The color it shows becomes their Embermark — the sign of their power, their status, and their worth.

No one escapes it.

No one can change it.

The Ember Colors

There are seven known Embermark colors:

Brown — Weakest. No power. Often ignored.

Orange — Low potential. Manual labor, basic service.

Red — Average strength. Common in soldiers.

Blue — Capable. Used in squads and combat roles.

Green — Rare. Skilled and gifted individuals.

Silver — Very rare. High-ranking warriors, elite class.

Violet — The highest. Almost mythical. Only two people in the entire world bear this color.

The Authority

Over all of this stands a single organization — the one and only power that rules the world: the Embermark Authority, or EMA.

There are no kings.

No presidents.

No governments.

Only the Authority — and their word is law.

They control the Emberstone Ceremonies in every region. They decide who rises, who falls, and who vanishes. Every clan, every city, every person obeys them. Not just out of fear, but out of respect.

Because the one who leads them… is not ordinary.

He is the Director.

Director Ansh.

He holds a Violet Embermark, the rarest of them all. And in all of history, only one other person has ever held the same color.

But no one remembers their name.

No one dares to..

The sky above the Emberhall was clear, but Ryu's heart raced like a storm. Today was his fifteenth birthday. Today, he would learn what color his Embermark would be.

The hall was silent as he walked forward, his footsteps echoing off the stone walls. Only two people were allowed in the chamber: the examiner, and the one to be tested.

The examiner stood quietly beside the great Emberstone — a towering black monolith that pulsed faintly, like it was breathing.

"Place your hand on the stone," the examiner said, his voice calm.

Ryu nodded, then raised his hand and pressed it against the stone's surface.

For a second, nothing happened.

Then—light.

A deep, glowing violet spread out from beneath his palm, filling the room with a color few had ever seen. The examiner's eyes widened in disbelief.

But before either of them could react, something impossible happened.

Two men appeared out of thin air.

No sound.

No warning.

They were just… there.

The examiner immediately dropped to one knee, head bowed. He didn't need to ask who they were.

One of them was the man who ruled the world — Director Ansh, the leader of the Embermark Authority.

The other... no one knew his name. But those who did speak of him in hushed whispers. The second bearer of the Violet Embermark.

Ryu stood frozen, unsure whether to speak or stay silent.

Ansh's sharp eyes scanned the room. Then he pointed directly at the other man and said quietly,

"BSDK, Tu yaha kaise?"

("How are you here?")

The second man smirked slightly and replied,

"Jaise tu aaya, waise hi."

("The same way you came.")

Ryu couldn't understand their words. Neither could the examiner.

But the moment passed quickly.

Director Ansh turned to the examiner and spoke firmly, "No one is to know what happened here. Not about us… and not about the boy's Embermark."

The examiner bowed again, lower this time. When he raised his head—

They were gone.

All three of them.

Ryu.

Director Ansh.

And the unknown man.
