Luis enjoyed the feeling of being the absolute head of the household. Looking at his mother-in-law and his aunt's expectant eyes, a sense of vain pride welled up from within.
Luis clinked glasses with them and asked, "Sure, has Minda been helping out lately?"
"Yes, she's very eager, coming twice a day. Her own daughter isn't even that filial."
Talking about this, Ruth felt especially proud. She took a big gulp of wine and said, "When we wanted to change the circuit, she immediately called the property management's electrician over, and she even had them check all our pipes and wires."
Luis found it both amusing and exasperating, thinking, 'What are you so happy about? You're the big boss of the property management company. You're just used to living a poor life and haven't adapted yet.'
Luis didn't do anything rash. He started listening to their business plan, showing great seriousness and respect, which helped them relax considerably.
