Lynn watched Lwandile from across the room.
He was calm. Always calm. Like nothing could ever break him. But she saw the way he avoided eye contact when she closed the door.
> "You heard everything," she said quietly.
Lwandile didn't answer. He just nodded, wrapping the bandage tighter around his arm.
> "I didn't tell him about you," she added.
He smirked. "You didn't have to. Men like your father don't guess. They know."
Silence.
Lynn walked over and stood in front of him. He didn't move.
> "I never meant for you to get pulled into this," she said.
He looked up at her, his voice lower now. "You think I didn't know what I was getting into?"
She blinked. "Then why stay?"
> "Because I made my choice the night you kissed me and didn't mean to."
Her heart thudded.
He stood slowly, his face inches from hers now.
> "You think this is still just business?" he asked. "Because if it is, tell me now. I'll walk."
Lynn swallowed hard. She was never the type to admit weakness. Never the type to need anyone.
But in this moment…
> "I don't want you to walk," she whispered. "I don't want to do this without you."
He stepped closer. His breath was warm on her cheek.
> "Then stop pretending you don't feel it."
She turned her face to him — slow, unsure — and their lips almost touched again…
But her phone buzzed.
A message from Sindi, her loyal assistant:
"Boss, I just overheard something. Thabiso is planning to cut you out completely. Tonight."
Lynn pulled back.
> "Change of plans," she said, eyes sharpening. "We hit them first."
Lwandile grinned. "Now that's the Lynn I fell for."
