Chapter 7 - The Calm After the Chaos Episode 7

"Bringing some random people to act as your witnesses won't make your lies true, Dad!"

"So you think I'm lying?" Mr. Vincent asked coldly.

"Then why would you kill him?" she snapped through her tears. "Did you even care to ask me first? Do you even care about my feelings, or is this all just about your pride? Your ego? You killed my husband and now you're trying to justify it with some disgusting story! You ruined my whole life just for your ego!"

She was crying uncontrollably now. The tension in the room was unbearable.

This was getting out of hand—so I finally stepped in. "We have proof," I said firmly.

I pulled out my phone. Ana followed, doing the same, and showed them all the footage we had captured that day.

"We were going to confront him today, but Mr. Vincent showed up before we could. He caught him red-handed."

"If you still don't believe us, you can check the CCTV footage. It's been going on for a week. That new intern? She doesn't even have proper qualifications. He hired her purely for his own enjoyment."

After seeing all that, she went completely silent for a while. Mr. Vincent, surprisingly, looked at us with a slight expression of shock. After a long pause, she finally spoke.

"I need some time alone… Please don't come to my room or try to disturb me," she said quietly before leaving.

Mr. Vincent didn't stop her—he understood. It must be incredibly painful to hear not just one, but two life-shattering truths at once.

Once she was gone, he turned back toward us. And the very first words that came out of his mouth nearly gave us a heart attack.

"Good job," he said with a small smirk. "I didn't expect you three to be this much of a help. Bringing you here was definitely the right call."

"You're welcome, sir," I replied, still trying to calm my racing heart.

He nodded and continued, "You must be hungry—none of you even had lunch. Wait here till dinner. My driver will drop you off afterward."

He called his cook and asked them to prepare a proper meal. Then he turned back to us again.

"Now, since your boss is… no longer around," he said with a meaningful pause, "I already have someone in mind to replace him. A good guy—young, smart, around 28. He knows the business world well."

We all stared at him, wide-eyed. A new boss already? None of us were expecting that.

I asked him, "New boss?"

He said, "Yes. And you can be his secretary."

Hearing that, I couldn't hold my smile back. "Thank you so much, sir!" I said.

He simply smiled and replied, "No need for that."

Honestly, he was much kinder than we expected.

He even remembered that we hadn't had lunch yet—even though it wasn't really his concern, he still noticed and remembered that small detail. Now here he is, treating us to a meal, making sure we get a safe ride back home, and on top of that, assigning us a new boss who's supposedly kind—and letting me keep my secretary position?

I think we judged him too quickly. And not gonna lie… I've imagined killing Mr. Liam multiple times myself—so I really can't blame him.

After we finished dinner, Mr. Vincent leaned back slightly and asked, "Do you guys have any office chat group or something?"

"Yes, sir," I quickly replied.

"Good," he said. "Let everyone know the office will reopen next week. And tell them a new boss is taking over, so they better be ready."

I nodded obediently. "Understood, sir."

With that, our little dinner meeting came to an end. We stood up, thanked him once again, and made our way toward the car waiting outside. The driver opened the door like a total gentleman and dropped each of us off at our apartments one by one.

As I stepped out of the car, I couldn't help but think—what a wild day this has been. From a murder to a new boss and now... a strange sense of calm.

After entering my room, I collapsed straight onto the bed, my body too exhausted to even move. Everything that happened today felt like something ripped out of a dramatic movie—chaotic, intense, unbelievable. I didn't even have the energy to freshen up, but somehow, I managed to drag myself to the bathroom and clean up a little before lying down again.

As I rested my head on the pillow, I suddenly remembered what Mr. Vincent told me: to forward the message about the office update. Forcing myself to sit up, I grabbed my phone and typed his exact words into the group chat.

Within seconds, replies started flooding in—questions, reactions, emojis. I didn't have the strength to reply, but thankfully, Mira and Ana stepped in and began answering everyone's doubts. I put my phone on silent and went offline.

Oh, and one more thing—Mr. Vincent had told us to keep everything about the murder a secret. He'd already wiped the CCTV footage clean. Not that he was afraid of anyone—his power alone could silence an entire courtroom. His business empire was a huge pillar of the country's economy. No one could even dream of questioning him. He just didn't want the employees distracted by gossip or fear, so we were instructed to say that Mr. Liam had been transferred to another branch.

That's exactly what Mira and Ana told everyone in the group chat—and surprisingly, people believed it without much hesitation.

As I finally turned off my lamp, another realization struck me.

"Wait… do we actually have a whole week off?" I whispered to myself, a sleepy smile tugging at my lips.

"Finally… I can rest."

And just like that, I was out cold—drifting into the kind of deep sleep only chaos survivors earn.

"Little did we know, one of us was about to meet their love interest — and trust me, nothing about their relationship would be ordinary."
