Chapter 13 - The Silent Blades

Kraken was no longer just a base. It was evolving into a machine — one that needed sharper tools.

We had strength. We had structure.

Now we needed a unit that could slip through steel doors, steal what couldn't be bought, kill without a trace, and vanish like smoke.

Cain called it plainly:

"You need knives that don't rattle in the drawer."

We built Shadow Cell.

The Shadow Cell – Covert Action Unit

Unlike Red, Blue, or Gray, Shadow Cell was not seen. They weren't listed on manifests. No names, no call signs in open comms. They existed in coded black files Specter kept offline, only accessible through retina and biometric encryption.

We didn't recruit mercenaries. We chose ghosts.

Here's who Cain brought in:

1. Nyra – The Crow

Former Mossad operative turned freelance handler.

Master of false identities, poisons, and deep cover.

Known to the underworld as "The Crow" for her long-cons.

Specialties: embedded infiltration, password/identity cloning, and covert removal of VIPs.

Specter called her "a walking breach."

2. Kasem – The Engineer

Iraqi-born tech saboteur, ex–black project hacker for a Saudi contractor.

Blew up a corrupt intelligence node from inside — walked out before the building finished burning.

Expert in data extraction, security bypassing, logic bombs.

Cold, methodical, silent. Never smiled.

3. Boone – The Breaker

American ex-Delta Force, dishonorably discharged for "independent action."

Tall, broken-knuckled, full-sleeve tattoos. A walking contradiction: soldier, killer, poet.

He doesn't talk unless giving orders or final words to targets.

Specialties: door breaching, silent takedowns, field execution.

Together, they formed the Shadow Cell.

Their mission?

Steal classified data and tech.

Create new access pathways for Specter's network.

Eliminate targets when diplomacy fails.

Create chaos that looks like accidents.

They operated off-island often — burner planes, encrypted comms, black-sat tracking by Specter. When they returned, they stayed in the Deep Cells under the mountain — a soundproof wing of the base known only to Cain, myself, and Specter.

No one else crossed that threshold.

Green Squad Expansion – Research & Recovery

While Shadow Cell operated in the dark, Green Squad evolved in the light — handling biomedical, trauma care, and rapid recovery. With that came two essential additions:

1. Dr. Yu-Min Tae – BioSystems Specialist

Former South Korean military researcher in regenerative bio-materials.

Fired after refusing to sell experimental tech to a private contractor with Hydra ties.

Brought in by Cain under academic pretense — now Kraken's lead on trauma gel, bio-stims, and nerve weave recovery.

Quiet, surgical, brilliant.

2. Dr. Mateo Silva – Genetic & Environmental Scientist

Once led a UN-affiliated task force on sustainable off-grid medical systems.

Blacklisted after whistleblowing on pharma-lobby corruption.

Now monitors Kraken's isolated medical lab, helps create field drugs, and monitors mental health of long-term base operatives.

They both wear the Kraken emblem like everyone else. But unlike the squads above, they're not warriors.

They are the mind and the scalpel behind the beast.

Their lab sits half a mile under sea-level — a dehumidified core behind six bulkheads and full isolation protocols. The rest of Green Squad escorts them during field tests, compound development, and missions requiring extraction or field medicine.
