Jason's phone rang.
It was a voice he hadn't heard in over two lifetimes.
"Jason?"
Elena.
His first love.
His first betrayer.
She sounded nervous, unsure. "I heard what you did to HelixCore. I want to talk."
Jason stared out over the city skyline from his penthouse, the same building Elena had once broken up with him in. Back then, she had left him for power, for status—for Callahan.
He didn't speak.
"Jason," she said again. "I was wrong. I miss—"
He ended the call.
Vivian stepped in from the shadows. "You're not letting her back in… are you?"
Jason's eyes were hard. "No. I just wanted to hear her lie one more time."
