Chapter 140 - Chapter 137: Short Hair, Perfect for Backshots

The room was silent, every gambler frozen as the two women stepped further inside.

The blonde's presence was unmistakable. A tall, voluptuous woman with sharp amber eyes, her massive chest straining against her green haori, every step radiating raw confidence.

The legendary Tsunade Senju.

"Oi oi… that's…" one of the gamblers whispered, paling instantly.

"The Legendary Sucker…" another muttered, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

"B-baka, don't say that where she can hear you!"

Indeed, the very same woman who was both infamous and admired across the Land of Fire. A genius of medical ninjutsu. One of the Legendary Sannin. And also… a notorious gambler whose luck was famously abysmal.

And right behind her trailed a younger black-haired woman, carrying a piglet in her arms with a helpless sigh.

"Lady Tsunade… please, don't cause a scene again…" Shizune muttered softly, her tone anxious as ever, though it was clear she was used to this routine.

Tsunade ignored her, her eyes narrowing on Obito. A smirk tugged at her lips.

"So you're the so-called Legendary Jackpot, huh? Tch. Sounds like a load of crap to me. Let's see if that nickname holds up when you're playing against me."

The crowd went wild.

"W-what?!"

"This is insane! Jackpot versus the Legendary Sucker?!"

Shizune pinched the bridge of her nose, muttering under her breath.

"Why… why again?" She didn't know how many time she had said this.

But Tsunade only stepped closer to the table, radiating that dangerous mix of arrogance, beauty, and undeniable power that made men tremble in equal parts fear and awe.

Obito didn't flinch under her smirk. He simply looked at her calmly for a moment, then gave a slight shrug.

"Well… I'd love to," he said evenly. His masked finger then drifted toward the group of gamblers who had been causing trouble earlier, still lingering nearby with sour faces.

"But as you can see, some people are very eager to… settle things with me first."

Tsunade glanced briefly at the men, then waved her hand dismissively.

"You guys can have him… after I've had my turn."

Obito's eyes narrowed slightly, his brow twitching behind the mask.

…Why does that sound so damn sus?

The group that had been glaring at Obito earlier Kimokara with his crooked teeth, Nakishi with his ridiculous mustache, and a few other regulars... exchanged nervous looks before puffing up their chests again.

"Tch… this guy thinks he's hot shit…" one of them muttered.

"Oi, let's drag her out back too and teach her a lesson," Kimokara smiled lewdly as he eyed Tsunade's hot body.

"Don't back down now! We got the numbers!"

Their voices carried that typical gambling-house thug bravado, loud enough for the whole room to hear.

But before any of them could take a step closer—

Crack!

Tsunade's fist shot forward in a blur, slamming straight into Kimokara's jaw.

The man was sent flying across the room, crashing into a table and scattering dice and coins everywhere. The crowd gasped, silence swallowing the house in an instant.

Nakishi and the others froze, their bravado evaporating as they scrambled to scoop their unconscious friend off the ground.

"Oi oi oi—Kimokara! You alive?!"

"Shit, grab him and run before she kills us too!"

They bolted out of the gambling house, dragging the limp body of their comrade with them, leaving only overturned chairs in their wake.

Tsunade dusted her hands together with a loud clap, as though brushing away dirt. Then she placed one hand on her hip, the other over her lips as she let out a loud, confident laugh.

"There you go. Now you owe me too!"

"It seems I have no choice... but I hope you lose you won't use violence on me," Obito said casually, as if he were actually afraid.

Tsunade's amber eyes narrowed into slits. She planted both palms on the table and sat, folding herself into the chair with that same dangerous confidence that made men sweat. Shizune hovered beside her, clutching the piglet and already white-knuckled.

Obito slid into the opposite seat with the same lazy composure. The room hummed with anticipation, everyone wanted to see the so-called Legendary Jackpot face off against the Legendary Sucker.

The dealer shuffled, the dice glinted, and the first round began.

Tsunade threw the dice with the vigor of a woman determined to overthrow fate itself. The entire table leaned forward.

Click. The dice tumbled—then settled.

"Ah—" Tsunade's smile faltered. "What—no way." She slapped the table, cheeks flushing. "Again?"

Obito watched without expression. He set down a small stack of coins with a faint clink.

Round after round, Tsunade's luck imploded in spectacular fashion. She would bet, grin, throw—and the dice would refuse to cooperate. Cards turned against her like traitorous companions.

Every roll, every flip, every spin somehow landed perfectly in favor of Obito.

"Wha—this is impossible!" Tsunade barked on the third round, slamming her palm so hard she nearly sent chips flying.

She tossed another pile of money forward, chest heaving with indignation and competitive heat. "Come on, you bastard—lose!"

Obito's hands never hurried. He placed his bets like a man with nothing to prove, yet somehow every card and dice bend to his favor. The dealer counted, the piles of coins shifted, and the space between Tsunade's stack and Obito's grew flatter and then vanished.

Shizune kept whispering frantic updates beside Tsunade, "Lady Tsunade, maybe stop—" but Tsunade only glared at her and reached for more ryo.

By the fifth round, the crowd had gone from stunned to hysterically entertained. Someone started a running commentary.

"Oi, she's literally pouring her savings in!"

"She's going to bet the pig next!"

"No, she's going to bet the black haired girl next to her!"

Those words made Shizune break out in cold sweat.

"Legendary Sucker indeed...she sucks everything away!"

Tsunade's face flushed darker, but she refused to relent. She called for even higher stakes, slamming down magnificent piles of notes, jewelry, and a moment later...handing over a sealed pouch that probably contained half of her gambling debt to the villagers of Konoha combined.

Obito accepted each bet with the same calm motion, and each time, the house cheered when the Jackpot hit.

Finally, there was that long, dreadful beat—Tsunade reached for what looked like the last sack of money she had with trembling fingers. Her jaw tightened. Shizune actually tried to grab her wrist.

"Tsu—please, that's—" Shizune pleaded.

Tsunade smiled confidently, "Shizune, I promise... I'd win this time. Shut up and watch." She shoved the sack onto the table like a gauntlet.

A hush settled. Tsunade threw the dice as if she could will the universe to obey. They skittered, spun, then clink—and landed with the kind of cruel finality that felt like fate itself slapping someone in the face.

"Ah—no… noooo!" Tsunade howled, leaping up so fast that her chair toppled. She planted both hands on the table and pounded it like a furious child. "Curse you! You rotten—this table is rigged!"

Obito's single visible eye gave a tiny, amused flicker. He gently pushed the last of the winnings toward himself and bowed his head as if giving thanks to the dice gods.

The room erupted: some patrons cheered the spectacle, others muttered prayers that Tsunade wouldn't come after them for the debt. Shizune gathered Tsunade's scattered belongings and the piglet, mortified and apologetic.

Tsunade, chest heaving, stared at her empty hands and then at Obito. For a wild, angry second she looked like she would explode—then she sucked in a breath and forced a crooked grin.

"You—this isn't over," she growled, voice trembling between fury and embarrassment.

"You'll pay for this later, you bastard."

Obito shrugged, voice small and polite, "If you'd like, we can play again."

"Huh?" Tsunade narrowed her eyes at him.

"Didn't you just help me drive away those troublesome guys earlier? Here, this should be enough," Obito said calmly as he pushed forward the pile of money on the table.

Just when Tsunade opened her mouth to say something, Obito continued.

"But… you see, I'm getting bored of this simple game. How about raising the stakes a bit? Wouldn't that be interesting?"

"What are you getting at, you bastard..? Just go straight to the point if you don't want me to punch you to hell." Tsunade waved her hand carelessly, already annoyed. She didn't like cryptic talk.

Obito tilted his head slightly.

"How about this...everything I've got here, and also my freedom, in exchange for…" He paused, then turned his eye toward Shizune.

"Her."

The words dropped like a bomb.

Tsunade's fist instantly shot toward his face. It stopped just inches from his mask, the wind pressure blasting across the gambling house.

Tables shook, glasses shattered, and half the people inside screamed and bolted out the door. Within moments, only Tsunade, Shizune, and Obito were left standing in the ruined silence.

Tsunade took a deep breath, her voice low and dangerous.

"Do you know what you're talking about? If you don't want to die, you'd better take back what you said."

Obito raised his hands in mock surrender, his tone lazy.

"My, my, so serious. Here I thought you were serious about gambling… but it seems you're just playing house."

Obito stood up casually, brushing dust from his cloak. He turned his back on the table, walking toward the door with the same relaxed steps as if nothing here was worth his time.

"Well… I guess I expected too much. The granddaughter of the First Hokage, one of the so-called Legendary Sannin… and all she can do is play with dice and run when things get serious."

The room went still.

Tsunade froze, her teeth grinding. Her fist clenched on instinct, nails biting into her palm. That one line jabbed at everything she hated being reminded of.

"W–wait!" she snapped, her voice harsher than she meant. "I agree!"

Shizune's eyes widened in shock. "L–Lady Tsunade?!"

But Tsunade didn't look at her. Her amber eyes burned holes into the masked man's back.

Then, after a long moment, she tilted her head slightly, giving Shizune a quick wink. The message was clear.

If things turn bad, we run.

Shizune clutched Tonton closer, her heart racing.

This guy… whoever he is… there's no way he can stop Lady Tsunade-sama, she told herself, though unease gnawed at her chest.

--

They both sat back down at the table.

Lucky for them, even though the other gamblers had already fled, the dealer tripped and fell, getting stepped on in the chaos. Unable to escape, he was forced to stay...so the game continued.

Just as the dealer began setting the dice, Tsunade glanced at Obito, her voice serious.

"Before we start… why her?" Her eyes flicked toward Shizune.

Obito tilted his head slightly and looked straight at Shizune.

"Well… if I have to say, I fell in love with her at first sight."

"Bullshit," Tsunade snapped instantly, a scornful look twisting her face.

Shizune's cheeks flushed, though, and for a brief second she actually found herself staring at the masked man curiously.

Obito didn't let the pause hang. "Well, she happens to have short hair… which made me want to have her body." He said it casually, without even a hint of shame.

"You really have big guts, saying things like that in front of me." Tsunade's tone sharpened, eyes narrowing. "Which village are you from?"

She thought to herself, This guy clearly knows who I am… and still dares to talk like that. He must be really confident in himself. Her easygoing side slipped away, replaced by a guarded seriousness.

Obito gave a small shrug. "Well, I live for myself and gambling. Whether I win or lose will show how much worth I have."

The way he said it made the room go quiet for a beat. Even Tsunade blinked, surprised by the sheer conviction in his tone. She wasn't sure if it was true, but if it was… it was something.

The dice rolled again.

Round after round, Tsunade's losses piled up, the same hopeless spiral as before. By the end, her stack was gone.

But this time, she didn't slam the table or scream. Instead, she smiled faintly, a dangerous glint in her eyes.

"Shizune."

The younger woman nodded, already clutching Tonton tight.

Boom!

Tsunade's fist came down on the table, shattering the wood into splinters. Dust exploded through the room as the dealer screamed and ran away.

By the time the cloud cleared, both Tsunade and Shizune were gone.

Outside, they darted down the street, Tsunade laughing as her sandals struck the ground. She glanced behind them, scanning with her chakra. Nothing.

She exhaled in relief, her grin widening. "Hah! See? He didn't follow. Guess he was scared of me, after all! Hahahaha!"

Shizune, still tense, frowned. Her nerves hadn't settled, but Tsunade just clapped her on the shoulder.

"Relax. We're..."

Before Tsunade could finish her words, a voice rang out from behind them... a voice that made them freeze in place.

"'…Fine?'"
