Lyra and Kael exchanged a cautious glance, their hearts racing with anticipation. They slowly made their way towards the hallway, trying to locate the source of the noise.
As they turned a corner, Lyra saw a figure in the distance, walking down the hallway. "Kael, look," she whispered, nodding towards the figure.
Kael's eyes narrowed as he watched the figure, trying to determine if it was a threat or not. "Let's follow it," he whispered back to Lyra. "See where it's going."
Lyra nodded, and they crept down the hallway, trying to stay out of sight. The figure led them to a door at the end of the hallway, which it opened with a keycard.
As Lyra and Kael watched, the figure slipped inside the room, closing the door behind it. Kael motioned to Lyra, and they crept closer to the door, trying to listen in on what was happening inside.
"I think I can hear voices," Lyra whispered, her ear pressed against the door.
Kael nodded, his eyes locked on the door. "Let's try to get a look inside," he whispered back.
Lyra nodded, and they carefully made their way around the room, trying to find a window or a way to peek inside.
As they reached the window, Lyra's eyes widened in surprise. Inside the room, she saw a group of people in lab coats, huddled around a console. They seemed to be discussing something in hushed tones.
"What are they doing?" Lyra whispered to Kael.
Kael's expression was grim. "I don't know, but I think we need to get out of here. Now."
Suddenly, the console beeped, and the group turned to look at it. Lyra's eyes widened as she saw the screen display a message: "Signal acquired. Preparing for transmission."
