Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 - Ears and Tails (3)

"Thankfully, no one is staring at us this time." Dermis pronounced with his calm voice.

"Yes...." I said while looking around.

Around us, there were many shops and guards, although this place wasn't as glamorous as the previous one. It was still gorgeous and busy. On the top, there were patterns formed with ice and water magic, patterns used during festivals and celebrations. They probably had a festival not too long ago.

Dermis grabbed our attention and declared.

"Let's split up. Me and Kyoko would go to the right. Tremious take the front and back. Ororon and Aniel, the left. Meet near the fountain before sunset."

"Alright, come Ororon."

He grabbed my sleeves and bid his goodbyes to the other's, I was definitely given the upper hand. With Ororon, it would be a little easier to gain information.

As we began cutting through the crowd and slipping towards any space we got, my shoulder bumped into someone.

"Sorry."

"No worries ma'am"

"...."

A voice to be smitten with, I quickly moved my face to catch a glimpse of him, but I failed to do so. Only his wide back was getting smaller and smaller as he moved forward. A black top hat and a black robe that covered his entire body till his knees. A face mask that covered his face, a mask that was painted black at one side and white on the another, being separated at the middle by a golden stroke, two holes punched at two different colours for his eyes to see.

Moments such as this are frequent. Nevertheless, if fate intervenes with us, I would see him agian.

A modest pub stood in front of me and Ororon, pubs have many customers, and the workers here get the chance to interact with many. They would contain large sum of sources. The fire magic filled the whole pub, resulting in Ororon and I breaking into a huge sweat.

"Missy, no kids allowed" a thirsty tone followed through from my side, and it was from a woman dressed in explicit attire. I hurriedly closed Ororon's eyes and laughed shakily.

"S-sorry, but i can't just leave him."

"Sweatheart, we aren't allowed to serve tiny guests. It's not in our rules."

"Aha- we don't need no service! Thank you!"

With that, I ran for my life along with Ororon.

"Aaa....what a place."

"I can wait outside, Aniel."

"Uh? No, you don't have to. We will just go somewhere else."

"It's okay, Ororon's a good boy, I will put still."

There was no refusing this boy. I feared what if I missed some crucial information. I nervously spoke again.

"Promise me you will stay here.."

"Yes!" He smiled radiantly

"And no following strangers, if someone bothered you. Just scream very loudly. "

"Understood." I patted his head and made my way again inside the sweat drain chin pub.

"Looky looks, the missy is back. She must have missed us lots...do you prefer to talk to a man or me"

"I just need some information."

"Sure, many require that, but love that still requires the pay."

"I will pay well, give the information."

"Sweat!! Ladies! We have a VIP guest~"

Within seconds, many women came towards me and escorted me to a room. I was sitting alone for a while before another woman came in and greeted me. She was the most prettiest woman in the whole pub and again with the outfit.

"How much is the pay?" I blurted out.

"Depends on the type of details you want."

"A lost person."

"Is she important or well known."

"Probably not."

"Then 300 coins."

I handed her the 300 coins I received from Malvis as a payment. And her lips curved happily.

"This woman." I placed the portrait Kyoko drew on the table whilst talking.

"Hmm...is she married."

"No clue, but she has a son."

"The boy outside?"

"Yes...."

"Her complexion seems to look similar to the ones in the Felous Frill Kingdom."

"Why do you think that."

"Her nose is very slim, and her eyes are also quite narrow."

"Anything else?"

"Mmm. Nope! Just that"

"W-what! Just that caust me 300 coins??!!"

"Yes," she said with a wide smile.

"Unbelievable."

"I'm not returning the money."

"I can tell!!"

I clicked my tongue and stombed my feet angrily before barging outside of the pub. I ruffled my hair in annoyance. I just got scamed with my own consent.

"Ororon, can you believe what happened!! Ororon? Ororon??"

He wasn't outside the pub. He couldn't be seen near it. I looked around whilst trying my hardest not to panic.

(Tomb!!??)

[On your right]

I ran across my right and still couldn't see him.

[Straight and there]

In an alleyway, Ororon stood helpless in front of five bulky men, pointing their weapons at him. My veins popped out, and blood rushed towards every corner of my body, fuming me with rage. Swiftly, I took out [Starlight's Tomb] and jumped towards them, hitting one of them with a kick.

Their eyes registered me, and now their weapons were pointed towards me as they started gritting their teeth at me.

"Oi woman, who are you!"

"How dare you touch me?!!"

The man i just kicked spitted out some blood before rushing towards me with his giant axe. I grabbed the end of my spear and slid under his axe, dodging it, and from his blind spot, with the end of [Starlight's Tomb], I jabbed him in the stomach, leaving him on the ground groaning. The other men got flustered and rushed forward with their daggers and blades. It wasn't a big deal for me to take care of them. They were just some mere humans. !!!

My eyes caught the other end, where Ororon struggled in the grip of a man who pointed his knife on his neck. Ororon, fully drenched with sweat, cried out to me.

"Aniel!!"

"Ororon!"

"That's right, missy, back away!" They snarled and giggled while I desperately searched a way to save my boy. I gritted my teeth, and my head started pounding, ears ringing, and breaths lightning.

"Let's him go."

"Nope, we won't."

"What do you want then?"

"Give us everything you have."

I gulped down my saliva and met Ororon's eyes once again, tears streaming down his face, and he desperately called out to me. I everted my eyes and started looking for all the coins I had.

'Swishhhh'

Out of nowhere, like a force of nature an entity appeared, the golden stroke on his mask glittered. He darted forward bravely and swiftly without any hint of fear. His speed was unbelievable, taking down every man on sight in an instant. His arms steady with every swing of his sword. He didn't pause, his focus unbroken as he leapt for the final time. His movements were like a performance. With grace and solitude, he took them down as if he was dancing like a Swan.

The men fell to their knees, and Ororon was broken free. He rushed towards me, and I embraced him with tears in my eyes. A sense of relief filled me up, and I quickly pointed my eyes to meet his. Thankfully, he didn't disappear like the last time.

"Who- are you?"

He bowed his head lightly and spoke with a husky voice.

"Are you hurt, miss?"
