Chapter 20 -  Chapter 17: Result and an Unexpected Request

Morning sunlight streamed through the windows of Tazuna's house, painting the wooden walls in hues of gold. The soft clatter of dishes and the faint murmur of conversation filled the home. A gentle breeze stirred the curtains. It should've been an ordinary morning in the Land of Waves.

But it wasn't.

Two figures stood in the open hallway, gazing out toward the distant bridge under construction. Neither of them was the same as they had been yesterday.

Naruto stood silently, eyes closed, his presence calm and profound. He had grown taller—170 cm, his once boyish frame now tempered into that of a young warrior. His muscles, though lean, rippled with quiet power beneath a fitted blue daoist combat robe. A white over-robe draped gracefully over his shoulders, etched with delicate Yin-Yang symbols woven in golden and silver threads. A dark blue sash cinched his waist, and black combat boots grounded him like a mountain rooted in heaven and earth. Twin jade wrist guards gleamed faintly, catching the morning sun.

His crimson hair now flowed down to his shoulders, tied back with a golden cloth. His eyes, once mischievous and loud, now shone bright with warmth, carrying a gentle nobility that inspired peace and awe.

He was no longer just Naruto.

He was something more.

Beside him stood Sasuke—his rival, his brother in battle.

Like Naruto, Sasuke had also undergone change. He too stood 170 cm tall, his physique honed to precision. His robe mirrored Naruto's in style but was darker—deep blue beneath a flowing black over-robe, Yin-Yang sigils in the same sacred threads. A silver sash bound it at his waist.

His black hair fell elegantly to his shoulders, tied with silver cloth. But it was his eyes that told the story. Cold. Focused. Sharper than ever. As he channeled chakra into them, his irises shimmered, revealing two distinct tomoe in each eye… with the faint outline of a third trying to emerge.

Even his skin had changed—smooth as polished jade, emanating a chilling spiritual grace. His very presence seemed to echo with an ancestral nobility, refined and austere.

They stood in silence.

Naruto breathed in and slowly exhaled, his breath forming a visible golden mist. As he spread his senses inward, he felt the surge of transformation within him.

My meridians… vast, open. Qi flows like a river in flood season… My bones… golden, sturdy as divine iron. Blood pulsing with vitality… My internal organs… feel forged in celestial flame. And Kurama…

In his mind, he reached inward.

 You there, Kurama?

The familiar rumble echoed back, but softer now. No longer full of disdain.

"I'm here. Tch… It's strange. I feel everything you feel. Every breath, every twitch of muscle. Our souls are… intertwined."

Naruto chuckled softly.

Looks like you're stuck with me.

"Heh. Maybe that's not such a bad thing anymore."

Sasuke was equally stunned by the transformation.

He clenched his fist slowly, feeling the power coiled within.

I've grown. Stronger. Faster. My chakra flows like threads of silk—refined. Precise. My blows… sharper. Even my Sharingan... it's evolving. I can sense chakra threads around me... I can see fluctuations in the air itself. But… even so…

He glanced sideways at Naruto.

He's a step ahead. That footwork… That grace. That pressure. What is he?

Behind them, standing by the table, were those who had witnessed the transformation's aftermath: Kakashi, Sakura, Izuna, Tsunami, and the old bridge builder Tazuna.

Kakashi stared silently, his single visible eye filled with disbelief.

They're not genin anymore. No… not even close. That pressure… it's like standing before a sacred mountain and an endless void. One shines like the sun, warm and radiant… the other cold and noble, like the full moon over a still lake.

What in the world is this "master" of his training him to become?

Sakura's cheeks flushed as her eyes moved between Naruto and Sasuke.

 So... beautiful...

It's not just their looks... It's like... they're glowing from the inside. They feel like divine beings who've descended to walk among mortals.

I… can't believe this is the same Naruto who once begged Iruka-sensei for second helpings of ramen...

Even Tsunami, the graceful widow, blushed, turning away in embarrassment.

Tazuna scratched his beard, staring wide-eyed. "I don't know what the hell's in your food, but I need some of that."

The mood lifted with gentle laughter, and breakfast proceeded—though every pair of eyes kept stealing glances at the two transformed youths.

After the meal, Naruto stood and nodded toward Sasuke.

"It's time we tested this."

They made their way to the nearby clearing, the scent of earth and dew still clinging to the morning air.

The two took their stances.

Naruto's posture was open, relaxed—but every inch of his frame radiated lethal precision.

Sasuke's stance was rigid, refined, and sharp—the Uchiha style made flesh.

They exploded toward each other.

Fists met.

The air cracked like thunder.

A shockwave rippled through the trees, scattering birds into the sky. Leaves and petals were thrown in all directions. Their bodies blurred—impossibly fast. Every strike, every block, felt like titans clashing in human form.

Naruto weaved through Sasuke's blows with serpentine fluidity, his strikes landing with unerring control. Sasuke activated his Sharingan, trying to match pace.

Their silhouettes vanished and reappeared in rapid bursts, like gods dancing amidst lightning.

Finally, after dozens of exchanges, Sasuke dropped to one knee, panting.

"I… yield," he muttered.

Naruto helped him up, offering a calm smile.

"You did well."

The two returned to the tree, where Sakura sat, towel in hand. Kakashi lounged high above, half-lidded eye watching all.

Sasuke looked at Naruto long and hard.

"You said this isn't taijutsu…"

Naruto nodded. "It's not. It's martial arts. A discipline of the body, Qi, and breath working in harmony. Even if your Sharingan copies the movements… it won't replicate the essence."

Sasuke swallowed his pride. "Then… teach me."

Naruto's smile faded, replaced by a hesitant, apologetic look.

"I can't. My master—he forbade me from teaching anyone."

Sasuke lowered his gaze. The silence between them stretched. Then, slowly, he rose, walked forward, and knelt before Naruto.

"I am not begging you," he said, voice low. "But I will kneel before your master. I want power—not for revenge, but because I've seen what I can become. I don't want to walk alone anymore."

Naruto's eyes widened.

He saw not pride, not arrogance—but something else. Humility. Desire. Brotherhood.

He nodded. "I will ask him tonight."

That evening, Naruto sat alone in his room, the jade pendant held in his hand. He exhaled and let his consciousness drift. Light wrapped around him, drawing him into the pendant realm.

A realm of stars, of swirling golden mists and floating mountains, unfolded before him.

There, standing above a stone platform amidst cosmic winds, stood Yin Long—his robes flowing like a celestial emperor, his presence ancient and unmoving.

"You came," Yin Long said, eyes sharp. "Is it time?"

Naruto knelt, bowing deeply. "Master… Sasuke seeks your guidance. I made a promise—if he came to me with sincerity, I would ask."

Yin Long's eyes narrowed. "I am no teacher to the world, Naruto. Master for a day, father for life. I do not offer that bond lightly."

Naruto bowed again, deeper. "I see him as a brother. He is prideful—but today he knelt before me. I believe… if you do not guide him, he may be lost to the darkness of power without purpose."

For a long moment, Yin Long was silent.

He turned away, gazing at the vast stars of the pendant realm.

"I once had a brother," he said softly. "Yang Huo. We fought side by side for centuries. But he chose the Dao of Fire and Rage. I chose the Dao of Void. Our paths… split. I never saw him again."

He turned back. A small smile tugged at his lips.

"Very well. Bring the boy tomorrow."

Naruto's heart soared. "Thank you, Master."

---

The next morning, the table was silent.

Then, Naruto placed down his cup and looked at Sasuke. "He said yes. Tomorrow, I'll bring you."

Sasuke stood, eyes burning. He extended his hand. Naruto took it.

Kakashi, watching from across the room, narrowed his eye.

Who is this master of yours, Naruto? What kind of being has the power to change the very nature of chakra… and now the very fate of two boys?

He spoke. "Naruto… will you ever tell me who your master is?"

Naruto stood and looked at Kakashi, his expression serene.

"No," he said softly. "Not yet."

And with that, he and Sasuke stepped out into the morning mist, walking side by side toward the bridge—the sun and the moon, together again.
