A couple of days passed.
The investigation continued.
Amelia and Lars followed Mrs. Vivian everywhere — from her office building with its mirrored glass façade to the cafés where she held business meetings, to the private gym she visited in the evenings. They rotated shifts inside the car, took notes, photographed unfamiliar faces, and logged vehicle plates.
The threatening emails had stopped.
Completely.
Had the stalker realized he was being watched?
Everything seemed relatively calm. For Mrs. Vivian, these past days had felt peaceful — almost normal.
Had the harasser grown tired?
Or was he waiting?
On the morning of February sixth, Lars and Amelia were in the apartment where they were staying. Pale winter light filtered through the curtains. The heater hummed softly.
They were having breakfast at the small dining table — toast, scrambled eggs, and black coffee. Amelia had her laptop open beside her plate, reviewing notes.
