Andrew and Asriel both jumped slightly, clearly surprised by the deep voice of someone, who from how it sounds, heard everything. They turned their heads to see an elderly man with a goatee, in long white robes with black magatama decorating the collar, floating in a lotus position. Behind him was a black shakujo and nine black orbs, none of which reflect any light. His eyes were light purple and had many rings, on his forehead was another red 'eye' and two horn-like protrusions. Anthony noticed that as soon as the old man approached, water met the brown earth below them, forming a small bank where ripples in the water fell. His anxiety grew.
Asriel, in a moment of courage spoke before Anthony,
"Greetings Elder, excuse me, but who are you?"
Anthony also gave his greetings clearly having the same question as Asriel. Hagoromo, noticing their wariness tried to calm them,
"Please, calm down young ones, my name is Hagoromo Otsutsuki, known to others as the Sage of the Six Paths, we are speaking in the realm of the dead, known as the Pure Land. Before my death I moved my conscious SOUL here, where I watch over the world of the living. From your earlier conversation I can confirm that this afterlife is not the one of either of your worlds, in short, you have gone to the wrong afterlife, this is an unprecedented occurrence and for it to occur twice at once is almost like fate itself brought you here."
Anthony and Asriel realized quickly that if what Hagoromo says is true they would never see their families and friends in the afterlife. But surprisingly there was no questioning it, they felt that nothing could be done, so they stopped worrying about it. Hagoromo seeing how quickly the two got over that hurdle was both impressed yet saddened, 'These poor boys, everyone deserves to see their families in the afterlife, even though the SOULs in the pure land remain in stasis and allow me to extract Chakra from them, their memories are still there, their conscious is still there, sitting at their own campfire with their loved ones. The fact these two ended up at the same campfire is another improbability. They deserve a second chance, even if they reject the offer of guardianship.'
Hagoromo after his internal monologue decided to speak,
"Anthony Renjiro, Asriel Dreemurr, I have a question for both of you, and after that question, a request. Would you hear this old man out?"
Anthony and Asriel looked at each other, Anthony who was still anxious, had accepted death, felt there was nothing left to lose, and spoke first,
"Hagoromo sir, please call me Anthony, what did you want to ask?"
Anthony said this in the way he would speak to his Japanese grandaunts and granduncles when he was young. He didn't know why yet, but felt a strange sense of danger, instinctively acting extremely respectful. Asriel did the same, though this time it was mostly his upbringing and child-like nature that made him respectful, he loved hearing Gerson's stories, he was like a grandfather, and Hagoromo carried himself similarly.

Hagoromo smiled, but internally he raised an eyebrow,
'Where is that music coming from? Is it one of the boys before me? Do they hear it too? No matter, I will find out shortly,' he thought.
"My question is as follows, if I told you I could resurrect you now, or give that chance to a loved one, who would you choose, and why?" Hagoromo finished.
