Chapter 14 - Healing, Slowly but Surely

However, when he returned to check on him, Li Shen had apparently tried to move from the bed and he was found asleep again on the floor.

It seemed like his awareness was slowly expanding outward, and with it, his anxiety.

As much as Somnus disliked it, he realized Li Shen probably needed someone else to talk to besides himself.

Someone he could confide in.

Someone to be by his side.

"…As always, or should I say, even without his memories, Your Majesty still goes disturbingly overboard when it comes to Del Delatia," one of them muttered.

At that, Somnus's perfectly shaped eyebrow lifted slightly, as if to say how dare you.

"Of course I do. Whether he's Del Delatia or not doesn't matter. He is everything to me. I've said it before—I would gladly throw away the throne just to stay by his side. Do I really have to keep saying it for you to understand?"

In the Goa'uld Empire, the one known as the Dominator of Arcane Magic, Del Delatia, was undoubtedly seen as a being equal to a god. But to Somnus, before anything else, he was simply one person—the only one—and someone he could never truly reach. Someone he deeply desired, but could never have.

That was exactly why...

"In this situation, where a god has fallen, I can't hold myself back anymore. I'm sorry, but I'm going to go all in and make him mine. Just consider me already dead."

That bold declaration from their emperor left the three subordinates in stunned silence. After a long pause, they all quietly held their heads in their hands, unable to find a word to say.

...

It was a beautiful day today. The sky was clear, the weather perfect.

Li Shen found himself once again seated in the massive, ridiculously grand garden that was supposedly still considered part of his own estate. Though, really, calling it a garden didn't do it justice—this was more like a personal paradise.

From where he sat, he had a full view of the lush landscape, all while lounging in a building that looked too polished and solid to simply be called a gazebo.

As for the seating arrangement?

He was currently sitting right on Somnus's lap, at a round table made of some expensive-looking white marble.

He was eating lunch while soaking in the undeniable reality that he was now living in another world.

Surprisingly, as long as Somnus supported him like this, sitting down didn't make the pain in his lower back any worse.

That had to be a good sign. Yes—he was healing.

Slowly, but surely. Progress!

And on top of that!

The "Li Shen's Chair," known for its incredible stability, even came with an automatic feeding feature!

One after another, the delicious mini sandwiches were placed in front of him right on cue. Each bite was amazing. He had no idea what the ingredients were, but they tasted good, so who cared?

Oops. He had definitely started using food as a distraction from the overwhelming situation.
