Chapter 27 - Aftermath

Izuku's eyelids fluttered open to the sterile white ceiling of the infirmary room. The faint hum of a fluorescent light overhead mingled with the distant murmur of footsteps in the hallway. His head felt heavy, and a dull ache pulsed behind his eyes. Blinking a few times, he turned his head slowly—and there, sitting quietly beside the bed, was Momo.

Her usually composed face was marked with concern, brows furrowed gently as she watched him. "You're awake," she whispered, relief washing over her tone.

Izuku tried to speak but his throat was dry. "Momo… what happened?"

She reached out, lightly squeezing his hand. "You passed out during the ball throw test. You pushed yourself too hard. The teachers were worried—not about magic, but about the way your energy surged… it was wild, uncontrolled."

Izuku swallowed hard, the weight of what had happened settling in. "I didn't mean for it to go like that… It just… happened."

Momo nodded understandingly. "I know. We trained together, remember? Sometimes your magic spikes unexpectedly. You're still learning how to control it. But that's why I'm here—to help you. You're not alone in this."

He looked at her, grateful but troubled. "I'm scared, Momo. If that energy bursts out again, it might hurt someone. Or worse, expose everything we've been trying to keep secret."

Her eyes softened. "We'll figure it out. Step by step. You don't have to carry this alone."

The infirmary door slid open quietly, and Aizawa stepped in, eyes heavy with tiredness but sharp with concern. "Midoriya," he said gruffly, "that display… your energy was unpredictable. It's dangerous if you don't learn to control it."

Izuku nodded, swallowing his anxiety. "Yes, sir. I understand."

The teacher sighed, looking toward Momo briefly. "Good that you're here to support him. You two need to watch each other closely. This isn't a quirk like the others. It's different, and that makes it unpredictable."

Momo simply gave a small, resolute nod.

As the day wound down, Izuku lay back on the infirmary bed, thoughts swirling. The excitement and nerves of the first day at U.A., the pressure of the upcoming trials, and the weight of his secret magic all pressed on him. But with Momo by his side, there was a flicker of hope.

Tomorrow was a new day—a chance to learn, to grow, and to face whatever came next together.

Aizawa rubbed his tired eyes, his expression grim. "That kid's energy… it's wild. Unpredictable. Like a live wire with no insulation."

Present Mic, ever the contrast, shrugged with a wry smile but a serious glint in his eye. "Yeah, and it's got a tendency to flare up when you least expect it. That kind of raw power can be dangerous — for him, and for everyone around him."

Another teacher, a stern woman with sharp eyes, added, "But you have to admit — the distance he threw that ball? Exceptional. If he can control it, he could be a real asset."

Aizawa's gaze narrowed. "Control. That's the question. Right now, it looks like he's barely holding it together."

They fell silent, the weight of responsibility settling over them. U.A. had accepted many students, but Izuku's strange energy signature was unlike anything they'd seen before. They had to watch him closely — for his sake, and the safety of others.
